Underbelly
For the Aussies who've seen it

Fucking awol show, saw episodes 1-4 tonight, apparently it gets even better from now. The only problem I have with it is it doesn't pay enough attention to detail eg, the year is 1995 and there are brand new trams in the background, new cars, new passports, and they serve Pure Blonde in the bikie pub. But I love the old school mobiles and the old Telecom boxes and shit. Also the actors look ridiculously close to the real underworld figures, it's nuts. Great show.

Mate I have had the whole series for weeks - it's fucking awesome.

Also no one cares about the fucking trams cause you are the only cunts that have them and it's been banned from being shown in Victoria anyway.


Also the series is events from 19995 to 2004 (but still no Pure Blonde even in 04).


But it quite honestly shits on anything else I've seen on TV.



Wait until you see Derryn Hinch interview Carl Williams.

Gareth the funny thing is it's been banned from being shown in Victoria but practically anyone who wants to see it has seen it. the only reason why I've waited for so long is because my mate's old man wanted to go through it first before he let me borrow the DVDs and I couldn't be fucked downloading them. I'm glad I waited though cos I've just sat down and gone through them all in one hit.

For anyone else who cares, Underbelly is a TV series about the Melbourne gangland wars which have been going on for the last 12 or so years. It's been banned from being shown here because there is a criminal trial coming up for one of the underworld figures who is shown in the show and the courts fear that the jury for the trial may be influenced by what they'd see on the TV if they screened it. once the trial is over they'll screen it but everyone's already seen it anyway.

The birds in it are mad as well, fucking great set of cans on most of them especially the bird who used to be on Neighbours.

It's piss funny that a high court judge banned Channel 9 from broadcasting the show in Vic and more people have seen it via the internet anyway. Every Victorian I know has seen it, either by d/l themselves or by getting DVDs off mates etc.

I know a couple of coppers who watched it just to see if they were in it (fucking egomainiacs), they weren't, and they reckon half the cops in the Vic police service have seen it.

But guilty or innocent, Tony Mokbel will not get a fair trial when he returns from Greece, but he's still got 9 years to serve on drug charges anyway.

Mokbel may not get a fair trial but at least he got to put away that Neighbours bird
