Going to see Paul Weller tonight...

Setting off up the M6 to Blackpool () to see one of the best and longlasting, prolific singer/songwriters this country has ever produced.

It is at the Empress Ballroom. I saw The White Stripes there a few years ago. I believe the 'Jolene' video was shot from that gig.

So, Ill have a gig review much later on. In the mean time, i'm sure there are a few people who are really too sure, or actually don't know who he is, so here's some light reading/listening/watching options to pass the time and educate you....

The info...

Some vid's....

http://youtube.com/watch?v=3x6Ps99kZ9g&feature=related# - This vid is from one of the 3 gigs he played in New York last January, doing a 3 night retrospective of his career. Me and my brother went just to watch these gigs. Irving Plaza, for anyone who's interested. And it was fucking immense!

I even found a full acoustic gig. You should really check this out, its streamed and the quality is superb.

I loved the Jam, but I haven't liked much of what I've heard post-Jam. Also, while I like the Jam, I love the Buffalo Tom version of "Going Underground" more.

So yah, It was really good. He has changed the rhythm section for the first time in 15 years. they were ok, not as good as Whitey (drums) and Damon Minchella (bass) of old.

Lot's of tunes of his new double album played. Only really liked one. Play Butterfly Collector and Eton Rifles, from The Jam days. rare treats. And lots of obvious, and a few random ones from his solo days.

Good show all in all. Next gig..... Paul McCartney, June 1st.... at Anfield.

KK, There is so much, crossing into so many genres. Ill PM you my list of essential Weller songs.
