A possibility regarding the World Championships

I was reading a prediction page for Night of Champions on another site. I had originally thought that Mark Henry was winning the ECW Championship to make sure the belt got back on Sci-Fi, but that site reminded me that the SmackDown!/ECW talent exchange still has weeks to go, and that they think Henry being added to the match is meant to be misleading. They think Big Show will win the ECW Championship, and at least for a moment, make all three World Titles the properties of SmackDown!.

It made me think -- could the WWE actually do something like this? Mark Henry is not Satan, but he's not ECW Title quality. Even if he does take the ECW Title back to "The Land of Extreme," it's possibly going to do more harm than good for the belt. It'd be better for the brand to have a monster with credibility (like Kane or Big Show) holding the belt. Henry can just be there to take the fall. I mean, if they really felt that Henry was a big enough star to hold the belt, you'd think they'd have moved him as part of the televised draft instead of Matt Hardy (who is the US Champion, and should technically be behind the future ECW Champion in terms of priority).

Big Show is still on SmackDown!, but to be honest, he doesn't really have a presence there. His involvement in the brand is very easy to overlook. He looked like a monster in the Battle Royal on RAW, and I think the WWE wants to do something more pressing with him. Being scenery on SmackDown! is not really that. I can just imagine SmackDown! starting next week, with Edge and Triple H both coming out with their title reigns still intact and arguing over who is the man on SmackDown!. "Weeeell, it's the Big Show." The ECW Champion walks out, and asks Edge and Triple H how on earth they could forget about him. It instantly reminds people that he is a part of the SmackDown! brand, and it puts the ECW Title on a level of importance that Mark Henry winning it would simply not do.

The angle would not last forever. Eventually a belt would end up going to RAW (probably via CM Punk and Money in the Bank), and the ECW Title would end up going back to SmackDown!, but it'd be a boost for SmackDown!, which is apparently high priority at the moment, while it was going on. Then I had another thought.

Something is not right. SmackDown! got the rub in this draft, and came out looking the best of all three brands. Even though Triple H is on it, I can't see that sticking. If all three World Champions are on one show, it'd be best to address that situation immediately. Everyone is wondering just which title will be on RAW after Night of Champions -- the WWE Championship or the World Heavyweight Championship? What if it is both? Hell, what if it is both of them and the ECW Championship?

Edge loses the World Heavyweight Championship to Batista, or retains the belt and then loses it to CM Punk in a moment of irony. Edge gets mocked by Triple H, and then in a moment of "if I can't be a World Champion on SmackDown!, no one can," Edge costs Triple H the WWE Championship to John Cena. Earlier in the night, Kane retains the ECW Title against Mark Henry and Big Show in a match where he seems to turn into the Kane that a lot of us know and love (the Kane that isn't a jobber to the stars).

This would probably lead to something more finalising for the World Titles, as there would be no logical way to get them back to SmackDown!. They'd probably be unified, with John Cena being "WWE World Heavyweight Champion" by the end of it, and appearing on all three shows as Superman, but it'd bounce back RAW considerably.

The title situation right now is very interesting, so my question to you, in summary, is basically this:

Can you see all three main event belts on either RAW or SmackDown! after Night of Champions?

Pfft

Gosh Noid good thread by the way. IMO, all the champions on one show would be one for the history books but it won't last long.

Maybe all 3 titles stay on Smackdown to "Boost" ratings for the new channel, although we are pretty far away from that.

I think a Big SHow/Edge/HHH champion of champions would be cool. That wasnt a bad angle with Booker, Cena and Show I think it was last year.

It could also really get over some new guys on Raw, who have to fight for the title to bring back to Raw.

Don't think he said anything about the Brand Split ending. Also I believe he said the whole Cena uniting the titles as a joke.

Um, yeah, that's not what I said.

See Impact!'s post for more information on how you just embarrassed yourself. Also take into consideration I didn't type in caps, don't use internet shorthand unless I am being extremely sarcastic, and I never once suggested it as something the WWE should actually do. Unifying the titles was more an inevitable situation to the flip-side of a possibility I think people are overlooking.

So yeah, a not-so-shining moment from a usually good poster.

I could see Kane keeping the ECW Title, Batista taking the World Title, and then Cena winning the WWE Title and having a big 3-way dance for the unification of all the "World" titles at GAB coming into play.

And then Jericho beats up CM Punk and steals the briefcase and signs his own name on the contract and beats the winner, because NOBODY ELSE WILL BE THE FIRST UNDISPUTED CHAMPION! NOBODY!!!

Here's my scenario. Edge definitely retains because he is marrying Vickie soon and marrying her without the big gold belt just wouldn't have as much heat.

HHH definitely loses because Raw is going to need something to feud over for Summerslam.

Mark Henry probably will win. See Kane v. Albert for the Intercontinental title.

With possibly a Randy Orton run-in during Cena/HHH so that the belt stays on his show.

KingofKings does not have that much rep yet (10+)
I would want to see all the belts on one brand, get a brand feud going running into summerslam which would be centred around HHH's belt, as he was moved from RAW.

HHH wins the match at summerslam against whoever from RAW, but CM Punk runs in and cashes in the money in the bank and wins the belt from HHH. The only thing with this is that if CM Punk would cash in the MITB like that, it would suggest he is a heel, because he is like doing it at an opportune moment, which is kind of like what heels do.

I would want to see Kane retain the ECW title! He has been jobbing waaaay too much as of late and its a shame becasue he could still be a big character (big mistake taking his mask off IMO).

Really interested in seeing how they run with this...in terms of storyline, there are really only 2 possibilities they can run with WITHOUT making the draft and the new rosters look meaningless:

A) Punk cashes in (he could even do so on Raw if he wanted to...since he can force a title match whenever he wants)
or
B) A tournament to crown a new champion of Raw while Smackdown's 2 titles get merged together in a HHH/Edge feud

Potentially, they could do a combination of the two, similar in 2005. There's a Raw title tourney going on, set to end with the main event of GAB. But Punk cashes in and wins the title after the Edge/HHH match...making the Batista/Cena (most likely) final a number 1 contender's match instead. I dunno.

Frankly I see them getting around this without using Punk...because I can very well see Punk being the first MITB winner to fail upon cashing the briefcase in, and from there he'll be strictly IC level.

Well, we know how it went now, but I would have agreed with you, Big Vito, regardless. CM Punk was the key to getting one of the SmackDown!/ECW titles to cross that border. Unless you wanted to see John Cena as a four-time WWE Champion, or Batista as a four-time World Heavyweight Champion.

I still wish Big Show were ECW Champion over Mark Henry. The ECW belt was just starting to get credibility by being around the waist of someone that had actually held a major WWE title before in Kane, and would have continued getting a rub by being held by Big Show again. Mark Henry has knocked the belt down to the status it was when CM Punk won it without holding a major championship to his name, but Punk has compelling talent which helps nudge him above Mark Henry. Plus, Punk was never the father of a hand on WWE television. Punk winning the ECW Title didn't exactly make it feel more like a World Championship, though. It more raised the question "Can we really consider this belt held by Bobby Lashley, Vince McMahon, Johnny Nitro and now CM Punk a World Title?"

Big Show should have won the belt, and then dropped it to say, John Morrison, Chavo Guerrero or William Regal. Morrison and Guerrero have been ECW Champion before, and beating a six-time World Champion would give them an actual rub winning it again, and William Regal at least has the 2008 King of the Ring behind him.
