This news would all explain why Chrono Trigger was never released for Virtual Console as part of the Hanabi festival. Square-Enix is expected to officially announce the release soon but, for now, take a look at some screenshots of the SNES original.

Heard the game is great so I may get this when it arrives here. I could have sworn it was released in the UK. I'm sure I saw it being played on a PAL SNES.

Is the game really as good as it's said to be or is it overhyped?

This is one of my 2 favorite games ever, tying with FF7. Enhanced CT with new dungeon is even greater than MM9 announcement. Hopefully this does well so theyll get off their asses and make me a damn CT4 already. Radical Dreamers and Chrono Cross are fine but I'M READY FOR MOREZZZ

Oh, Square Enix and their ports. No wonder they're barely supporting Nintendo's Virtual Console. They're making a crap load off their over priced ports. Hell, I wouldn't support the Virtual Console if I could sell millions of copies of a ported game for $32 more a pop.

I heard about the news probably as soon as it hit North America (gotta love GoNintendo.com) and everyone is crapping their pants.

I've never played Chrono Trigger, but I'm willing to try it. I'm sure it's over hyped, but it's always been talked about as one of the greatest games ever made by pretty much everyone.

The DS is becoming a great handheld for retro games or retro style gaming.

It's pretty much the 16 bit RPG, man. It set the bar pretty fucking high. Now if only they'd port FF7 to the DS, I'd be set.

Yea, the only 16-bit RPG that is in its league is FF3/6. In terms of English releases anyways. Seiken Densetsu 3 is pretty amazing, as is Tales of Phantasia and the original Star Ocean. If you've never played them, you should download the roms and get translation patches off of zophar.net, you'll be glad you did.

Edit: Also, I better get my PS3 remake of FF7 before they port the original to DS or I'll be PISSED. That damn tech demo teaser played too much with my emotions for me to settle for anything else. /fanboy response

This makes me a very happy man.

I don't know if I'd say it's the best game of all time or whatnot, but Chrono Trigger is a damn fun game--which is more than I can say for a lot of modern RPGs--and is more than worth your time.
