RhodeIslandShawn has done some stupid things
WCW questions

I never watched WCW consistently and even when I watched it I didn't close attention to it. So, with that in mind, I'm wondering if someone can answer these questions.

First, Goldberg no-sold Sting's spear at the 1999 Halloween Havoc? Was that a shoot, and if so why did that happen?

Also, there's a video on-line that shows Vince Russo in the ring with Tank Abbott and Russo is swearing like a trooper and calling out Bill Goldberg. This was the 8/14/00 Monday Nitro. Was this because Goldberg no-sold Sting's spear at the 1999 Halloween Havoc, or what were the circumstances surrounding it?

Lastly, when Jeff Jarrett "laid down for" Hogan -- did Hogan really not know that was going to happen, and that Russo would go off on him on Nitro? Is it true that Hogan sued Russo after that because of the stuff Russo said?

If anyone can answer these questions, I'd really appreciate it. I've read about these things on-line but it seems like different web sites have conflicting information.

Apparently the the whole Hogan laying down thing was a work, but Russo's comments were shoot, hence the defamation of character lawsuit.

The whole thing with WCW at that time was that they were taking actual shoot occurences and turning them into storylines, thus confusing the fuck out of everybody watching at the time, as most of the fans were not part of the smark IWC and therefore had no idea who was no-selling for whom, and who was so-showing what, and what backstage politics were going on.

There was even a time when Buff Bagwell asked if he did "the job" correctly, clearly referring to laying down for the pin. They exposed wrestling as one big work in such a way that it ruined the entire company until their death in 2001.

It really was hard to even hear about, let alone watch.

it was more of a worked shoot, but Hogan got mad because Russo apparently went too far with it (big bald son of a bitch)

It terms of the Goldberg incident with Abbot, it may be from when Goldberg refused to do tht job to Nash. Here's from what I read. Goldberg , Nash and Scott Stiener wer fighting in a 3 way bout for the title. Nash went to go for his jacknife on Goldberg but Goldberg deadweighted it and walked out of the ring because he didn't want to do the job two straight times(I know, fucking dumb). Russo then put him in a match with Abbot with the stipulation being that there would be "no script"(stupid again). Steiner ended up taking the powerbomb and the announcers put Steiner over for being so professional for taking it.

How the fuck does Russo have a job in wrestling at all let alone, TNA.

as for the 1999 Havoc here's what happened. Earlier in the show Hogan laid down for Sting in the ring after he whispered something into Sting ear. This was one of Russo's stupid "shoots" where Hogan was mad the Russo was making him job to Sting so he laid down to get back at him. Sting then fought Goldberg later in the PPV and lost, but WCW held up the belt because it was "non sanctioned", and thus created that stupid 32 man tournament for the belt.
