Question - PS3 backwards compatibility?
Ok, I bought an 80gb PS3 bundle about 2 months ago. I've heard several people say "I would get a 20 gig, they took PS2 compatibility out of the 80." The thing is, every PS2 game I've tried in the system's worked without a hiccup. Games I've tried:
Arcana Heart Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistance Silent Hill 3 Soul Calibur 3 Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (Blew chunks, but worked fine with the PS3 guitar) (Yeah, I really like games with the number 3 in the title ![]() SO does anybody have any idea what's going on with this? Not that I'm complaining or anything, it just seems kind of odd. I downloaded a "PS2 system File" thingy from the Sony online store a while ago, but would that be all it took to restore PS2 functionality? A 6 meg DL? ![]() Last edited by My Final Heaven; 09-30-2008 at 07:09 AM. |

Anyway, I'm betting you have an older model. Do you have four USB ports or know the model number?
The downside with the 80s is that they all use software emulation to my knowledge, except the new one. |

Yeah, that is why I love my 60 gig.

Mine has 4 usb ports, so the chart explains it. BTW, The PS2 system file I downloaded lets you install games that used the PS2 HD, so I would be able to play Final Fantasy 12. Getting my ass kicked by monsters inside towns is soooo much fun.
