Saw the first, was mildly amused, never bothered with any sequels. Seems like they have a new one every year. Kinda asinine, IMO.

I'll see it. I enjoy 3 the most. Dunno if I'll see 5 in the theater. Only one I've seen in the theater is 1.

It's the new Friday the 13th/Nightmare on Elm Street. As long as they keep making money they will make more.

The ending of the first one was so forced. Yea sure it was shocking, but also incredibly stupid. Of course it's shocking that the dead guy was him there the whole time. It was for no other reason than a cheap swerve. It makes no sense past that motivation-wise or in any other fashion. He's there just to get up and provide a twist.
It also caps off a pretty awful movie.
It's Seven with severe brain damage and nothing of any meaning at the core.

I just think the whole series is garbage. Somehow, I saw 2 and 3 and was even less amused. 3 was total garbage, but 2 was actually better than the first.
Happenstance hasn't landed me in a room where the fourth is being shown and I hope it doesn't.

Don't try to rack your brain on it dude. I think the writing/preproduction process for each is shorter than the final runtime.

I love horror, and I even enjoy crappy horror. I just don't see the redeeming qualities in any of this and what absolutely drives me wild is how people eat it up and buy into the pretentious sense of importance or story they try to inject in to low rent twists and torture porn.
I hate Saw.

Aside from the second being an impressive sequel (it was ok but nothing special for me), I'd agree entirely with this.

I hate Saw.
I just looked it up on IMDB and Wikipedia, and I didn't know that there were that many different writers, directors, etc.

The timeline things just bugged the hell out of me after watching IV because you will see characters and the same ending from III in the middle of IV and the same thing happened in III with II. I don't think the films are great (hence why I only saw IV in theaters with a group of friends) but there is potential for some great stringing together of these films into something. I do understand why many hate the movies (some of the traps just get absurd). To me, it is just enough story to keep me interested but not enough of it to leave me fulfilled...I guess that is how they make money off of the sequals.

Dunno. I actually think the series does a good job of keeping a continuity between films unlike most horror franchises, that mostly ignore the previous film.

I've seen all 4, so I kind of feel obligated to watch this one, since I invested time (and even money on saw 3 and 4) into these movies. They're not the best horror flicks, but they're a cheap thrill.

The first one where the guy got off the floor, after all the shit that happend, was a big holy shit moment to me.

I'll probably go see it because its become sort of a tradition that everytime a new Saw film comes out, I go see it with my friend who I hardly see anymore.

I think the first Saw was a good film, it was something a bit different. Same with Saw II, they weren't gonna win any Oscars but they were decent. Saw III and IV gradually got more and more contrived though.

For anyone confused about the timeline, from what I can remember Saw happened first, then Saw II, then Saw III and IV happen at the same time but IV also has flashbacks of what happened before the first Saw.

Pretty sure Saw III picked up right after Saw II. Saw IV really takes place six months after Saw III, but some events happen right after and even during III.

The movies are getting progressively worse, and I just don't give a shit about the franchise anymore.

Oh, I'm not saying it was great by any stretch of the imagination. I kinda see sequels being traditionally poorer than the original, so when a sequel arrives that is somewhere between being on a par with the original and not being God awful I'm impressed.

How anyone can say that 3 was their favourite I'll never know! They seemed to replace any sense of plot or sense with a nice pile of "EXTRA SUPER GORE". That shit doesn't interest me.

I really think that from Saw II up is really one big movie. And in the middle of movies there are action scenes, theres talk, etc.

Take Bourne Ultimatum for example, that started as an action scene, then talk, then an action scene with talk, then more talk, then another action scene then a fight scene, then more talk...

Saw III is really the middle of the whole franchise. If you watch Saw II up and think of it as one big movie, Saw III is the gore/action of the whole series.

Saw has become the unseen, get it? - yinno, like I saw something?, I saw it, I seen it, and unseen is like, not seeing it? as in ignoring it?..no?

Perhaps I should watch 4 and see if it puts a new spin on 3!?

Because they do.

I will go on record as saying that Saw 1 had one of the most ludicrously stupid endings in the history of cinema. Saw 2 is my favourite, since it has a ton of Tobin Bell, who's easily the best thing in the franchise.

I love the Saw movies. They have a decent story, but like a few have said, the timeline gets annoying at times. I didn't even realize until the end of Saw IV, that it was taking place at the same time as Saw III. The movie starts like its the end of III, but the main storyline is during III.

But I will keep watching mainly to see the different traps they keep coming up with.

Low expectations by audiences is what allows this garbage to persist.

SAW is the "Nightmare"/"Friday the 13th" of this generation, and I am enjoying the ride so far. There are still things to be explained regarding Jigsaw's past and I think that could be interesting. I am also interested in some of the members of the returning cast. There will be twists... oh yes.
