So, how is Jericho going to retain the World Heavyweight Title at Cyber Sunday?

I'm thinking he gets a steel chair, cracks Austin over the head, cracks Batista over the head, and calls out a referee he prepared earlier to count the fall.

Everyone just speculate on ways Jericho could beat Batista at Cyber Sunday.

Up down left right up left left right down.

Activate cheap non-finish title preservation mode.

They've had face special guest refs make the count for heels before, including Austin himself in the 6 Pack Challenge Match at Unforgiven 1999 for HHH.

Though the fact that HBK and Orton have ref powers for the night could make it interesting. If Jericho is going over I would be inclined to say Orton makes the count for him.

Actually, Randy Orton counting the fall in a referee shirt would be pretty cool stuff. I can see that happening.

I really doubt they'd have Austin play Jericho's game of countouts and disqualifications, though.

I wonder how serious Austin is about getting his "last match" at Wrestlemania 25. HBM or Orton would be likely opponents, and having run-ins with either of them that affect the Rattlesnake's ability not to be able to make the three count might be something that starts turning the wheels for that match.

This would be the perfect time to start the build, actually. Only problem is, I'd rather have Michaels as his opponent but I have a feeling the main event will be Michaels/Jericho.

Not that I'm complaining about the prospect of that match at Mania.

Xero, Michaels/Jericho at WrestleMania would also make me cum. People in here need to stop making me unrealistically cum.

Honestly, though, I have a feeling we'll be getting Batista defending the World Heavyweight Championship against John Cena at WrestleMania. Come on, it's the silver anniversary of WrestleMania, and it's the WWE's two Supermen battling each other. Don't tell me you can't see it. I also expect this will be where John Cena will win his first World Heavyweight Championship. It might be a chance for the WWE to start afresh with Cena as a main event player, but I doubt they will take it.

Randy Orton and CM Punk's heat has been toned down a bit, but Punk was going after the World Tag Team Championship to bide time until Randy Orton was ready to return. Punk and Orton could easily continue their heat into a WrestleMania blow-off, where Punk goes over the winner of the RAW main event at WrestleMania XXIV, and keeps building into a second run as World Heavyweight Champion.

Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker having a match at WrestleMania XXV, in Houston, the WrestleMania after HBK retired Ric Flair, just screams "too perfect" to me. If that match happens, pretty much the only guy on the WWE roster I can't find anything for, is Chris Jericho. This was years ago, but I remember once Stone Cold Steve Austin said that Jericho was his second favourite worker in the company (the other being Chris Benoit). Jericho versus Austin would be an interesting concept for a WrestleMania match, if you ask me. The only problem with it, in my opinion, is that Jericho and Austin don't really seem to compliment each other as major rivals on paper. I'm sure a proper story could infuse the combination with some appealing chemistry though.

For those of you too lazy to read, I suggested that WrestleMania could contain the following as matches:

* Batista vs. John Cena for the World Heavyweight Championship
* The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels
* Randy Orton vs. CM Punk

Which leaves Chris Jericho without anything major to do on the RAW side, so a potential Jericho vs. Austin match could start to be built to as early as Cyber Sunday.

I also called Batista vs Cena and HBK vs Taker months ago, after Mania XXIV. Not so sure about either of them now, with rumblings of a Taker vs HHH match (which I really don't want to happen unless there is no title involved) and Batista/Cena drawing disappointing numbers at SummerSlam.

I do still think that HBK vs Taker has a built-in storyline that writes itself, and with HBK/Jericho being stale right now, what chance does it have of headlining WrestleMania in another 6 months??

If Austin is really going to wrestle, I'd put him in there with "the Legend Killer" (or how about a heel CM Punk... Mr Straight Edge vs the beer swillin' redneck?)

I'd do that almost exactly except HBK vs Taker would be for some sort of Championship.

BTW, I believe you may be forgetting somebody by the name of Triple H. Trips and Jericho is a bit too obvious for my liking and if there's a belt involved it would get quite confusing. I would love to see Matt or Jeff step up to the plate against Trips at Mania. I've always been a bit partial to Matt so I'd give him the booking if it were me but Jeff is probably the more likely candidate. Or maybe it will finally be time for Shelton or MVP?

Also, I like the idea of Punk vs Orton... but Orton vs Austin is looking mighty good to me also. Rekindling the Legend Killer title might work out good. And If they build it right, Edge vs Austin could be pretty classic also. I could see Edge needing to prove to himself that he can beat one of the best there ever was. Maybe even a second appearance of 'Crazy Edge' would fit.

There are so many "big match" possibilities, with or without Austin. I kind of think Jericho/Michaels will be done by the time Wrestlemania rolls around. As I said in the another thread, I think it will conclude in a HiaC at the end of the year. Cyber Sunday, followed by Survivor Series buys time until the HiaC at Armageddon.

Smackdown - HHH (c) v. Undertaker
Raw - Jericho (c) v. Cena
Raw - HBK v. Austin ?
ECW - Matt (c) v. Jeff
MiTB - Rey, Evan Bourne, Morrison, Miz, Big Show, Finlay...could be two more this year
Diva's Match - who the fuck knows/cares
Interpromotional- Edge v. Batista?
Carlito/Primo v. Bam/Chavo? - Now I'm just making stuff up.

Jericho/Cena wouldn't be the BEST choice of Raw championship, but it doesn't need to be. My card is already way too top heavy in terms of star power at the top, so the WWE title match is basically filler compared to HHH/Taker, Austin/HBK and even potentially Matt/Jeff. I'd rather see Jericho as the challenger and winner in this, as I think it would have the best effect on the crowd.

Re: these WrestleMania match predictions.

There is absolutely no point putting Undertaker in a title match, because we know he will win. How many times will Mania end with Undertaker as the new champion? Three years in a row? Doubt it. Even if they plan to end the streak, most fans will assume Taker is going over, and that's fine a little lower down the card but how do they expect to keep selling Mania with Taker going for the title when there's no intrigue... he's incredibly likely to win, and even if he doesn't, 99% of the audience will have already assumed he will, and may choose not to watch on this assumption.

That's why I'd prefer Taker vs HBK non-title, with the match revolving around Michaels, having beaten Flair at XXIV, stepping up to another huge challenge.... ending the streak and cementing his name as "Mr. WrestleMania", with Taker looking to make it 17-0 (or whatever it is now). Or if they do go with Triple H vs Taker, they need to keep the title out of the picture.

Either way, HBK and Taker haven't wrestled each other in a match in 11 years, are WWE's two longest-serving iconic stars, and both are Texans battling in Texas. I'd wager the match would be great, the crowd reaction awesome, and the storyline of the match much more satisfying than "Taker is going to win the title again".

Plus, considering both men are WrestleMania icons, you feel more like if anyone would get the nod to go over Taker at this time, it would be HBK. I don't think Taker will lose the streak for years yet, but with an opponent like Michaels, you feel that there IS a chance that it could happen.

I would prefer the HBK/Taker match as well, Carl. I was pretty much making my predictions based on what brand everybody is currently on and what would be easiest to do right now (with the exception of MitB and the random interpromotional). I agree that Taker being the challenger three years in a row and leaving the champion is predictable. At least with HHH there would be some element of "maybe it's not going to happen because it's HHH," but in actuallity I would rather see HBK/Taker non-title. Especially if HBK were to turn heel and ride the wave of "I retired Flair last year, I can beat you this year."

The bell rings and Jericho pulls out an old superman tiffin box from his shorts. Batista the tiffin box collector demands for it. Jericho makes Batista lay down for the pinfall. The new owner of the tiffin box Batista! The crowd goes nuts as Batista is filled with tears of joys. The kids in the crowd chant Thank you Jericho!

That is what I think should/will happen. Especially if they cut-out the zombie theatrics as much as possible, and just make it two great wrestlers from Texas going at it in Houston at WrestleMania XXV.

The only other guy I'd like to see face The Undertaker, truthfully, would be The Brian Kendrick. Just to really play up the whole Zeke as back-up thing, and do the whole Legend vs. New Kid With Apparent Strategy angle. That'd probably be better for a WrestleMania XXVI thing, with Taker going through HBK one year, and then facing his student the next.

The difference is many people (marks and smarks) will believe "Mr WrestleMania" actually has some chance of defeating Taker. Nobody in their right mind would believe Kendrick had the remotest chance of ending the streak.
