Persona 4

I got the True Ending on it last night, and am now thoroughly convinced that it's one of the greatest RPGs ever made. How they managed to top Persona 3, I'll never fucking know.

That's all.

Discuss, I guess.

I have been intrigued by the positive reviews on this series. Gonna pick up Persona 3 first tho.

Definitely a good idea. Persona 3 is an amazing game unto itself, but Persona 4 surpasses it in almost every conceivable way. It's definitely worth it to play P3 as well, though.

Be warned that the Persona series will spank your ass raw, though. Shit gets pretty hard, even on Easy.

Is persona 3 a sequel to the first two from a storyline perspective, or is it like other jap rpgs, where each game is it's own story?

I beat the original nes version of Final Fanstasy with 3 White Mages in the party. I'm ready for anything.

Each game is its own story. There's little shout outs here and there, but I never played a Shin Megami Tensei game prior to Persona 3 and I understand it all perfectly well.

Laughing

Just finished Persona 4 Golden and I have to say, it is my favourite JRPG of all time now. Persona 3 was great, but every little thing in this game is just right. Everything from the amazing soundtrack down to the best turn-based battle system in an RPG I've ever played is here. Hell, how can you not get pumped when one of the two regular battle themes kick in?

(Although admittedly, the Persona 3 battle theme for both male and female were better)

Got the Golden ending and am now playing through P4 Arena to fill in the blanks, which is a surprisingly fucking ace fighting game. Marvel V Capcom style with a hint of Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure? YES FUCKING PLEASE. Can't wait for P4 Arena: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold now. Fuck it, I might even get the Vita dancing game.

I really like the idea of Persona 4, but I found it to really, really drag, especially if you only have half an hour or an hour to devote to a session, you'd get absolutely nowhere. It had a great battle system, but it was overwhelmed with the slow pace of the dialogue and the daily schedule for me. I always keep an interest in the series, but I think P4 should have come to PS3, the pacing is really strange for a handheld game.

Red face

True, I've been quite happy to sit down for a long time with my Vita but it's obvious it's a PS2 port designed for consoles. The Japanese are almost exclusively handheld now with massive games like Monster Hunter and Soul Sacrifice being on there. Grabbing Persona 2: Innocent Sin after talking with other fans but giving P1 a miss. Persona 2: Eternal Punishment I may have to download since there is no official way to buy it in the UK.

Not sure why they didn't dump the original P4 on PSN for PS3 though, seems like a no-brainer now the emulation was there.

Really hyped for Persona 5, but I'm guessing it will be late 2015 before we see it in English.
