Did Heyman pay for Taz's return to ECW in 2000?
Or did the WWF pick it up?
In fact, how did this all go down? I know Taz came in because of Awesome leaving for WCW and needing to take the belt off him, but how was this all arranged? ![]() Last edited by Xero; 03-18-2009 at 11:51 AM. |

It was a legal settlement, Awesome had to drop the belt to somebody of ECW's choosing and could not take it to WCW. ECW & WWF came to an agrement that it should be Tazz. Tazz didn't hold the belt for too long before dropping it to Dreamer but in that time Tazz and Triple H had the ECW champion vs. WWF champion match on WWF television.

Seeing as Tazz was under WWF contract, I think it was just a talent loan with the pay off for WWF being that they beat a WCW wrestler and maybe that they had another promotion's champion for a short while.

Totally forgot about that whole thing.
I remember ECW on TNN showed the re-cap of the match. Tazz showed up at an ECW show and tore Awesome apart. Then next week on Smackdown I think he challenged Triple H and got his ass kicked. If I am not mistaken, Triple H spit on the ECW belt afterward. I could be mistaken tho. |

Vince (to his credit) has a long standing working relationship with Heyman and loaned him talent on a semi-regular basis

Knew about WWE "loaning" talent to ECW but thought this may have been a bit different. Guess not.
As for ROH, aside from the Matt Hardy angle, where he made dates before he was resigned (assuming they fired him in the first place), I can't think of any other times they loaned ROH talent. |

Didn't they loan Mick Foley while he was doing that 6 man Championship match angle?

Pretty sure it was just a favor from Vince, seeing as the common enemy (both in general, and in this situation) was WCW.
It was good for everyone involved. And I disagree that Triple H "spat on the title" and "buried him". He beat him, yes, but it wasn't a squash. Also, what do you expect? WWF gave them a favor, and in turn they got a match out of it. Obviously HHH was going over, and he was their top guy, while Taz was lower on the card. It's not like the ECW was considered on equal status the WWF belt anyways. Tbh, I consider the fact that the match even occured to be a positive thing. I dunno, I hear people mention this as some kind of injustice and I just don't get why |

Because Vince McMahon even admits that he regrets doing it.

Mike Awesome really fucked up everytime an ECW wrestler gets signed to a different company they just fuck them over. I wonder why? Mike Awesome had the look Vince is so in love with plus ability.
