Rick Steamboat
I'm sure its been discussed here and there but lets talk about it with me. Steamboat was awesome at Wrestlemania, and Raw... should he continue this excursion into the ring? He was the same guy at WM 25 that he was at WM 3 it seemed, and he and Jericho were really really awesome and what a dream match that was. Would you like to see his feud with Jericho continue unto Backlash? Maybe an old school 2/3 falls match could be pretty cool and add some spice to Backlash.

He needs a bit more conditioning for the ring, but he looked ridiculously good in both matches he's had.
I'd love to see him get one more run. |

It was quite incredible watching this fat, bald, old man pull out such athleticism.

What was the Raw match? I must have missed that, but his Wrestlemania appearance was great! I really wasn't expecting him to pull off half the stuff he did!

Absolutely.
When I saw him doing moonsaults I was marking out, I could not believe it. I doubt if he has a run, it won't last long. Possibly a few months. But I would absolutely love it. |

Still pissed that they cut from Ricky skinning the cat at WM.
Steamboat is the man, plain and simple. His feud with Savage is legendary. His TV title feud with Austin is still one of my all time favorite programs. He's the only person I can think of who has been a face his entire career, and yet he was never stale. I hope he does come back for a little while longer because A) even the most jaded wrestling fan has to like the guy and B) as talented as he is, he has always been overshadowed by the big names in front of him and it's time he gets his moment in the spotlight. |

I fully expect Steamboat to get a nostalgia run. Kinda like that of Tatanka, Duggan, Animal, etc. Only difference being that Steamboat has much more ability at present that the 3 I mentioned may have ever had.

He is on the list of the awesome WWF/E superstars to have never been the Heavyweight Champion in the WWF/E.

Steamboat was smart enough to walk away when his back was injured. Hopefully he's smart enough to leave this little foray back into the ring at that, and not piss all over his legacy, or risk further injury. He's one of the greatest performers to ever grace the squared circle. Let's leave it at that. There is no doubt that in his prime, he would own 99% of the current roster, but he's not in his prime. He looked great in two outings, I seriously doubt he could perform at that level consistantly.

Besides. Vince would probably make him come to the ring in a clown like dragon outfit, breathing fire, or some such bullshit...

I was hoping they might give him a month or 2 on TV but judging by last weeks RAW, with him involved in the finish and then Cena, Rey, Punk and Jeff waiting for him on the ramp while he celebrated alone in the ring made me think they aren't intending to. Plans can change at any time though.

I agree with McLegend. He had a nice little comeback. There's no need to extend it further.

As much as I was amazed by Steamboat at Wrestlemania/Raw, I think I want it to end there. In fact... that's the reason I want it to end there. Because it was amazing, and I don't want that memory tarnished.
Maybe have Jericho/Steamboat once, and end it there. Give them a good 15-20 minutes on a PPV, and let Steamboat go out with one last blockbuster performance. Either way, I don't think a "legend run" would do his career any favors. |

Y2J/Steamboat match given 15 minutes or so on a PPV and then call it a career.

I would also point out, while he may be able to pull out some good shit, he may not want to be able to do anything more long term in that capacity, and we really don't know if he could physically hold up to it.

we don't need to see an in-ring return by steamboat, so i'd prefer that we didn't. like everyone's said, he looked phenomenal in his recent showings, but i'm perfectly fine with leaving it at that.

I don't really care, but I think it'd be best if he faced Jericho at Backlash for his last televised match.

If Ricky Steamboat feels up to occasionally performing in the ring, then I say let him do it. Who are we to say that Steamboat can't go consistently? The man knows what he is a Hall of Famer for. He says he feels at about 80% and has obviously been staying active. If Steamboat can't go in the ring, Steamboat won't go in the ring.
I genuinely marked out for Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania XXV, and there is just something awesome about an old guy doing the stuff Steamboat is doing. Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels and Finlay are all guys we thought it was over for, that have still wowed us with performances over time. It's a decision that Steamboat really has to make for himself. |

Who says it has to be jammed down our throats? Is it jamming it down our throats if he maybe wrestlers one match every once in a while?

I love Steamboat, and his matches on Wrestlemania and Raw were really good. For me he stole the show at Wrestlemania. But...I don't want him to come back. I want to remember how great he was back in the day and how much I loved seeing him wrestle a couple more times. More than anything I want his comeback matches to be a lesson to younger guys about how a true professional does it. I think if he was given another run it would be botched anyway, so I'd rather just watch Wrestlemania 3, the Flair/Steamboat matches and the Austin/Steamboat matches and call it a day.

It would've been so much cooler if Ricky came back to fight Flair last year at WM.

Also, I have to believe we will see Ricky in the ring again - as hopefully one day he'll be in there with his son.

I'm not saying bring him back for a whole run, just a few matches. Namely with Jericho, however if Triple H turned heel anytime soon I think I'd really like to watch that match, for some reason.

Yea, I'd like to see him work off some ring-rust and have one last PPV match against Jericho one on one, with some time.
It'd be excellent. I don't want some nostalgia run that goes too long, and results on him working random tv matches and getting eliminated in Rumbles. Just an extension of his angle with Jericho, and one more match. |

Steamboat made Mania for me, and while I marked like crazy for the world's greatest arm drags, I have a feeling his sendoff was last week on Raw. I would love to see one more one-on-one match with him, but I doubt for one he gets it, and I agree with those who say he should be remembered for the 2 nights he stole the show one more time.
