Can get a 20GB HD for the price of the 4GB one, but after it's partioning it only has 14gigs and I can't use both HDs at the same time, unlike having a mem card and HD at the same time

That just made the 'bare' 360 an extremely attractive option, at least for a little while until you upgrade. Sweet item.

I made my own 120GB HDD so no need for these.

Besides, it seems so weird to use memory cards these days.

When I bought a 360 it came with the 20GB HDD, but then NXE came out and I wanted to make use of the install to HDD feature. Because I didn't want to shell out for the transfer kit, I just bought a memory card instead.

Only time I've ever used it actually.
