Stoned or just in semi tard mode froom the looks of it. Funny for someone that plays a person whos tech savvy in the show he doesn't seem to have much of a clue outside of it.

Also find it amusing that he once bashed meat as being "unhealthy" ( ) yet here is smoking away.

I'm glad we're in agreement that it was ass though. Such an awful movie. It was like watching a friend play a video game. Just loosely thrown together plot, as the characters walk from action sequence to action sequence.

The worst part about it was it's attempt to be dark and serious. If it's going to a shallow, effects-heavy popcorn flick, it should at least aim to be fun. That's why Terminator 3 is infinitely better, even if it's just as bad of a sequel at the end of the day. At least it wasn't depressingly bad

Even the action was lacking so that's not a saving grace. One, count them - one single light-hearted moment (Reese getting kicked out of the driver's seat) after the series' signature chase sequence fooled me into thinking this movie was gonna pick up eventually.

I waited and waited.

I blame a few factors:

- Christian Bale, in a sense, forced the movie to be more serious than it needed to be. By extension, The Dark Knight's success inspired studios abroad toward 'dark reboots'. As you said, T3 was fun. TS missed the fucking point. Yes the mythology was dire, but the past movies were still summer popcorn blockbusters. They just so happen to have high stakes. Even the show knew this.
- I totally figured we'd get two hours of Jim Cameron's brief glimpse of the future war. So much for that. McG had something to prove, I guess. Ironically his Charlie's Angels movies had the energy he could have gave to Terminator Salvation.
- What was Moon Bloodgood there for? What did she do? Weak sub-plot.
- And then you fucking kill the main character? Where's the moral in that? Fuck that, he was more interesting than Conner.
- Fucking promotions spilled the beans on his true make-up when the movie clearly wanted the twist. I know it's hard to hide things but... it was in the fucking trailer.
- Arnold could not save this. And what's with making the T-800 all boogey man now? In two movies the model was shown to be inferior to later models (including Marcus' in a way). And yeah, downplay decades of early intel with, "They're doing something new and different." Way to spit on Sarah Conner's legacy.

Couldn't stand the visual direction either. I don't know if they were trying to prove something by making it look like the middle east wars, or if they just didn't want to make the effort. Either way, the dusty, sunlit western look was boring as hell. Where was the world we saw in the prologues of T1 and T2?

That's just one of the things that was a no brainer

The whole love story subplot was a riot. She meets this robot and falls in love with him in the course of 5 minutes, and then risks herself to free him

T3 was fucking awful. salvation was infinitely better, if still absolutely nowhere near the first two films.

Salvation was quite a horrible movie from any perspective. T3 was fucking awful for a Terminator movie, but still some fun. It was total cheese. I would rather watch T3 than Salvation any day of the week.
Luckily I don't have to, since I can enjoy T1 and T2 and never watch either one of those movies again willingly.

Both of them are just fractions of what a proper Terminator sequel should have been, with Cameron at the helm.

i didn't mind the dusty desert fights although it was a bit stupid having it in daylight. it doesn't have to look like the flashbacks in T1 and 2 because that future was in 2027, i think the story went that skynet dropped a bunch of nukes at some point to block out the sun, post judgement day.

also having helen bonham-carter as skynet justifying itself to marcus, who was really one of its machines anyway was insulting and annoying.

also bale's batman voice making a return was shit.

otherwise it wasn't bad though. i wish they'd return the soundtrack to brad fiedels more metallic sounding stuff rather than all this orchestral nonsense though. takes a lot of the tension out, i find.

also post judgement day shouldn't be "fun" as in a lighthearted comedy terminator romp. watching arnie wear the star shades and "talk to the hand" in T3 made me want to punch things.

the most fundamental problem with Terminator Salvation was the characters. They were AWFUL. When the characters are more cold and boring than the machines, how are we supposed to care about the primary conflict on any level?

John Connor was more boring and machine-like than any of the Terminators ever were. This is the guy who we are supposed to believe had a Terminator for a best friend growing up, and is the savior of humanity, and you can't even like him.

Just a huge failure.

It makes you wonder what the humans would do after winning once and for all. Would they play it safe, and go back to living primatively? Or would they go back to using machines and destine themselves to progressing back to the same point?

Either way it doesn't make a difference. The future we see in T1 and T2 is like 10 years after the one in Salvation, tops.

Are we to believe that the nukes were dropped to black out the sun and the fallout would have cleared up by then? It's the same shit, they just went for a different visual cue.

Keep in mind the Terminator films made no qualms about laser rifles and most of the guns in Terminator used bullets.

The only thing I liked was the Terminator human guy. It's like the movie was supposed to be other things but spent a lot of time on him but I would have loved a movie devoted entirely to him.

Well Skynet was intelligent and self sufficient in the future so without humans they would just replace them and keep on doing their thing but in the TV series it seems like not all the robots wanted that. As for the Matrix the machines they are dependent on Humans. All they wanted was to just enslave them, breed them and use them as energy but some woke up and threatened their existence.

I have a theory that there will always be a John Connor no matter who Sarah Connor had sex with. Maybe he will look different if it was someone else like an Asian guy or Black guy but in the environment he grew up in and how his mother raised him which was to be the savior of mankind, John Connor the idea will always exist no matter who his father was. That's why the machines will fail unless they kill Sarah or young John Connor.
