I hate when a band I love puts out a CD I cannot for the life of me get into
Like, their first 2 or 3 CDs will be AMAZING, then they'll release one that I just have no desire to listen to at all. Or they'll have an impressive catalog of music but just one CD sticks out that I don't feel at all.
Recently, Taking Back Sunday and Senses Fail's newest outings I'm really not feeling at all. They both sound similar to me, in the sense that I can't really pinpoint any individual songs. Senses Fail's is growing on me a bit though. My biggest and worst example of this is Jimmy Eat World. Absolutely adore Clarity, Bleed American (or self-titled, w/e), and Futures. Chase This Light did nothing for me though. Huge disappointment, because they are like one of my favourite bands ever. That CD just seemed really hollow to me. Dunno. Anyway, hbu. crossrine \_0__/ ![]() ![]() \__0_/Regards, road doggy dogg |

I want to check out both of those Senses Fail and Taking Back Sunday releases but I keep forgetting.
Maybe I can youtube the album right now. The thing I like about Senses Fail (now) is that they have that backup singer/guitarist that used to be in Midtown and now covers all the high parts that the lead singer can't hit. I know what you mean though. Bands constantly do this. They either cop out and become commercial or they go in a weird direction that I can't get into. Silverstein's 3rd CD did this (Arrivals and Departures) although I am liking their 4th cd a lot. |

eh. You get used to it. Every band drops a lackluster album now and again.

I don't know, I listened to CtL and I just could not get a feel for it at all. Even tried months after originally hearing it with a "fresh new perspective" and it just didn't appeal to me at all.

I completely agree with you on Silverstein though, only liked 3 tracks off 'Arrivals and Departures' but love the new album. My greatest example of this is probably 'Funeral For A Friend', the 'Between Order and Model' EP was so sick and then they just went downhill from there. |

That pissed me off so much. I loved that EP and then they just completely changed their sound. It really fell flat imo.

Garbage is like that. First album was great. Everything else lackluster. Bleed like me was a little better, but still didn't match the first.
Was excited for Kasabian and Hard-fi's second albums, and they both disapointed. Franz Ferdinand albums havn't gotten worse, it's just their style is kind of one dimensional. And they didn't really try anything new on the second. Started listening to the third, and yet again, it seems like more of the same. |

Queen never did. Even their "worst" albums produced shit like "Under Pressure," "The Game," "Another One Bites the Dust," "Body Language," And "Save Me."
Let's face it: Metallica is a one trick pony which peaked over a decade ago.

Tool's 10,000 days. Aenima and lateralus are immense, but this one is just lazy. Still better than most shitt hat is out today, but compared to their catalogue, it is poor.

Jambi, The Pot, Rosetta Stoned, Vicarious, Right In Two... loved all of those songs just as much as any other stuff they've done. But the CD as a whole felt lacking.

I think Staind did that to me. Their first CD was great, Break the Cycle was awesome, 14 Shades was good, then after that I can't really get into them anymore. I wouldn't say Staind is one of my favorite bands, but still I thought they could be better.

![]() At any rate, off the top of my head I can remember similar experiences with albums from Alien Ant Farm, Adema, and the Exies, though I'm sure Ithere's more that's disappointed me. |

Many bands go through peaks and valleys. They start out original and new and fresh to the ears of their listeners, they break into the mainstream with the second album, and then they try to "mature" and "grow new sounds" and end up alienating their true fans while trying to pander to "a wider audience" and "changing times."
Then they usually realize it didn't work and go back to the stuff that did. In other words, wait another year or two and you'll get a good album. I didn't like the new TBS album either, tbh. |

Kasabian's second started strongly with Empire and Shoot The Runner, but kinda tailed off. Their third is much better. |

I wonder what type of liquor Metallica drank while writing St. Anger songs. Must have been good, because it made them forget guitar solos.

On SKOM, Kirk was fighting for them, but Lars and James said they had become passe'.
They appearently heard the voices though, which is why they returned. |

How well did St Anger sell anyway? 'Cayse I think they brought the solos back so the old fans would be back into their music, so they got more cash.
