The Royal Rumble match 1999
was brilliant wasn't it? First PPV I ever saw, and it works on so many levels, without even mentioning The Rock/Mankind
- the commentary is spot on. I still think The King is hilarious when he had the heel persona as he plays it so well, and his constant sucking up to Mr McMahon and changing of picks to win are great - the crowd are electric. When number 3, Golga, comes in literally the entire audience on show dance along to the music, something which wouldn't be seen again - Mr McMahon's efforts to weasel out of it, from the backstage beating to just sitting at commentary, as well as the intersplicing of the match and whats happening backstage; especially when Vis is being loaded into a truck, an ambulance with SCSA speeds past - the 'abduction' of Viscera is fantastically done, there's something very eerie when Undertaker is whispering to Vis and he's jsut confused and looks bewildered -the asylum workers and Kane - the entrants, ranging from Kurrgan/The Blue Meanie/Tiger Ali Singh to Owen Hart/Chyna/Jeff Jarrett etc, great roster |

My only gripe about the 99 Rumble was that there was never a point where the ring filled up.

It was the next step in the Austin/McMahon feud and it was entertaining. Austin's championship chase had to come to a head in the Rumble and at that point he was really the only viable person to win and go on to headline Wrestlemanie XV. The whole match and the conclusion was a great way of keeping that hot.
For the rest of the match, well, everyone on the roster was over at that point. It was a match full of mid-carders that got ovations like they were coming into a championship match. Great spots, some progressed story lines rather than being a regular Rumble match. Something to do with everyone else on the card that isn't named Austin. |

There's stages- there's a point near the start with Severn/Blackman/Singh/Meanie/Edge and a couple of others, and a few more times, I think any more than 6 or 7 it gets too confusing

the best rumble match was the 'hardcore royal rumble' when raven brought weapons inside the ring, anyone remember what year that was?

It was my favourite Rumble match until this year. The booking throughout was spot on. Eliminations, who was left in, who was next... Masterpeice.

I dunno my main gripe with the 1999 Rumble was that it seemed like the entry order was clearly not random. You had jobbers like Droz, Meanie, Tiger, Severn, etc. entering early........midcarders like Goldust, The Godfather, Al Snow etc. entering in the middle........and mostly upper midcarders towards the end. Not a huge deal but it would have been cooler to mix it up, have The Blue Meanie come into the ring amongst a sea of big names.
Still not as bad as the 2002 Rumble entry order, that was an abomination. |

With this being said, the 99 rumble was very well done, they had you believing that austin was out, then that austin was going to come back and beat the hell out of Mcmahon and win the rumble, then after all that the rock screws austin out of the match and Mcmahon wins it. Terrific booking. |

LOL, mentioned above about Gangrel's music. 5:20 the 1st row is moving their head back and forth to it. Hilarious.

Yea, i wish King would go back to his old ways. I can just listen to King/Vince/JR or just JR/Heel King commentary all day.

When King was a heel he was actually hilarious, some of the stuff he came out with was incredible
I saw a bit of the 15th Anniversary the other day when Godfather came out with his ho's and JR went 'King I've just seen you're new ex-wife' to which he replied 'Yeah...15 of them!' Thought that was rpetty funny |
