Ever have a conversation with a Real Old Time Wrestling Fan?

I just found out from my grandmother that my great-grandmother used to go to Big Time Wrestling (The Original Sheik's promotion out of Detroit), and told me about matches that Dick the Bruiser and The Sheik would have and how they'd bleed buckets, and there sure as could be on TV would be my great-grandmother sitting front row yelling and screaming. Thought that was pretty friggen cool.

My dad used to tell me about Haystacks Calhoun all the time. I think that's the only wrestler he remembers though.

My dad likes to tell stories of Don Leo Jonathan, Édouard Carpentier and the Rougeau Brothers (Johnny and Jacques, not Jacques Jr. and Raymond). He trained as a wrestler when he was young, and his friend was a ref for the Grand Prix promotion run by the Rougeaus and Carpentier in the 70's and 80's. He has a lot of fun stories about that.

My dad used to watch the old Kentucky/Tennessee territories and I think he got some of the Texan stuff as well. Jerry Jarrett, Jay Strongbow, a little of the Von Erichs, etc.

My grandfather is a HUGE Bruno Sammartio fan the only wrestlers that ever came close to how much he loved Bruno were Sting and now John Cena.

My grandfather was in MSG when Bruno dropped the title after nearly eight years to Ivan Koloff. As he stated it, you could hear a pin drop in MSG.

He saw possibly one of the biggest title changes in the history of the buisness the best I could see was Austin Aries become ROH's first ever 2 Time Champion... His was more historic but I'd rather see A Double any day rather than Bruno. But because of my grandfathers love for Bruno and John Cena I can't help but root for all of them.

My father expressed vague, fond memories of Haystacks Calhoun and Bobo Brazil. He first mentioned this to me a week or so after Bobo died, and he was sad when I informed him of it.
