Tito Ortiz back in the Octogon?
So Tito's twitter says
yeah, me and @danawhiteufc made up. I'm expecting to be inside the Octagon again soon. thanks for the support guys - I appreciate it. Dana's says they made up, doesn't mean he's back, just they're not mad at each other anymore. Interesting. Some good matches there if he does come back. ![]() |

Dana used to be Tito's manager. They fell out eventually. Dana wanted to book a superfight between Tito and Chuck when Tito was the champ. He refused because "he and Chuck were close friends and had made an agreement not to fight each other". Chuck said that was bullshit. Eventually Tito's contract came up, Dana didn't want to pay him what he thought he was worth making some comment that "Elite XC should make an offer of $30 because we're not going to match it" Blah blah blah. Dana tried to set up a boxing match against Tito, their show made it seem like Tito wussed out. Tito got hurt training for a fight, Dana refused his medical claim. Lots of other stuff.

Yeah, Tito pretty much bitched out of a super fight with Liddell when that would have been the biggest fight to date in UFC..
First fight Second fight Thing was Ortiz was a one trick pony.. The only time he had power in his hands was from the top after a take down.. You can't ground and pound Liddell cause of his excellent sprawl and the fact that every time someone shoots on him, the are running straight into that devastating overhand right.. Tito knew this and that is why he didn't want to fight Chuck.. You see from their two fights why.. |

The only way I'd want to see him back is to see a Rashad rematch..

If the rumors are true - I'd pay to see Tito Ortiz against Rich Franklin at UFC 103.

His fight against Tanner was one of the most dominant things I've ever seen.
He would make good money, but unless he has improved alot over the last 2 years or whatever he has been off for, I don't like his chances. |

Theres a lot of light heavyweights that tito could still beat and still a lot of good matches for him. You have to remember hes only lost to the most elite of the LHW class at the time when he did lose.

I'll bet he'd fight Chuck now that Liddell is on a 5 fight losing streak.

id be interested to see how chuck would do. It would answer a lot of questions like is chuck slowing down that much, or were the people chuck fought that much better, or was it all just gameplanning.

He hasn't won a fight since since the last Ken Shamrock fight (who he beat twice in a row) in 2006.. He did take Rashad to a draw, which IMO Evans should have won.. Before that, all his "wins" were decisions after Liddell murdered him for the first time.. The argument could be made that other than Ken Shamrock who is in his 40's, Tito Ortiz hasn't had a dominant "win" since beating Elvis Sinosic in 2001..
He is a one trick pony who IMO couldn't hang in the LHW division at this time.. Fuck sake, he hasn't even fought in a year and a half.. |

I bet Tito, Dana and Chuck feel really pissed it never happened the first time after the first fight was the biggest show to date and the rematch did over 1 million buys. Tito Ortiz might be a lot of things but stupid ain't one of them. |

Was it a quick fight? Yes, but Tanner was knocked out because he landed on his head from the take down, and I am pretty sure that Tito wasn't intending on that when he went for the move. When I think of a dominant performance I think of things like what Lesnar just did to Mir, or Belfort vs. Marvin Eastman. |

tbh, Tito's effort against Lyoto was the closest anybody has come to beating him. In UFC at least. Don't know about anywhere else.

The whole time he spoke about money and then he ended up getting the money. How can you not admire that? You expect him to get KO'd for less money? There isn't a fighter in that company's history that has built fights better than him.

you mean money he was personally getting paid? or money that would be gennerated by a fight with them gennerating more later than if they did it earlier?
I commend him on being able to get himself more money and I think his actions in ducking chuck put the sport in the perfect path, but he did that completely on accident out of being a coward or basically a bitch. Now I understand he was in kind of a catch 22 where he knows chuck can beat him so he either does the truly admirable thing to the fans and goes in there and gives it all that he has and risks never getting a good pay day, or he holds out until he gets enough money so that he can lose and not worry as much about his future. |

Tito is a shrewd promotion machine when it comes to fights. The argument could be made that once the hype around the suggestion of Tito/Chuck began, at a much more accelerated rate than any other fight, they wanted to draw it out for just long enough to get people on board and into the story, but not so long that everybody gets bored of waiting.
It was more stratagy than accident in my opinion. But I don't know. |

Yea he did get paid, but if you are ducking a fight as a champion because you know your going to lose, well sorry thats a cowardly thing to do.
He was totally out for himself, and Im pretty sure he would have felt OK if he never fought chuck in his career. Thats why I cant say he knew it would be this big huge thing in the future, especially because he had to lose his title for the fight to happen. |

Of course a fighter is going to be out for himself? Only the stupid ones aren't. Is Rampage a coward for chosing to fight Rashad Evans before Lyoto Machida?
Is Rashad Evans a coward for refusing a rematch with Ortiz? What about him and Jardine? Or the AKA 170lbs who refuse to fight each other? |

haha yea I meant he was only looking out for his paycheck not how much the fight would gennerate. maybe i put it a wrong way... he wasnt fighting because he loved it, he wasnt fighting because he had pride in the fact he was a champion, he was fighting for money. which is fine and a lot of fighters do that, but looking back at this all that wasnt the point of the whole point of this whole argument anyway.
And lets not get rediculous here with the teammate and rampage/rashad references. |

I dunno for sure really because what each guy says is completely different. Both were being represented by dana back in the day but that has nothing to do with training and being teammates.
Chuck has always been with the PIT and Tito has always been up in big bear. From reading chucks book, they only trained together a couple times and chuck would slaughter tito in training so tito stopped training with him. And then he started the whole "We're teammates" thing so I dont think the teammate thing applies to tito and chuck especially in respect to the friendship and training the fighters at AKA and jacksons depend on eachother for |
