Awhile ago they had sign ups and I got an email tonight saying I was "accepted". Anyone else?

Maybe, I dunno. I was thinking what their "target audience" would be, and I didn't think I'd qualify because I do not have Netflix (I know it's a big part of the update).

So far, it seems much faster (WHICH IS SO FUCKING NEEDED HOLY SHIT). The Friends part of the dash almost loaded instantly, instead of taking 30 seconds. Instead of listing the shit, here is a video from Joystiq.

It' not just messaging, tho. It's the guide in general, the games marketplace and the friends list. All of them freeze from time to time.

Okay, so 2 things that weren't listed that I found. There is now an option to clear the cache, so no more "secret code". And if you try to send a message while on mute, it tells you you're an idiot.

Turned on the box a second ago and got the update. Seems pretty good so far, will be interested to see what the rewards are for being a gold member and the avatar clothing from games aswell. Got some decent things on the avatar marketplace (monkey island pieces) although I'm not liking the price for them though.

So when you go to the friends tab and you can see all their avatars and when you press A for "View Details", a number next to the gold status pops up. Mine is 1. Some of my friends have 4.

What does it mean?
