PWInsider.com has confirmed that World Wrestling Entertainment has offered former ROH champion "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson a contract.



Danielson, considered one of the best pure wrestlers in the world from a technical standpoint, has been the nucleus of ROH as he's been main eventing for the company since their first show in February 2002. Originally trained by Shawn Michaels and Rudy Boy Gonzales at the Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy, Danielson has been something of a journeyman, learning and wrestling all over the world in Japan, Great Britain, Mexico and other countries, as well as training in MMA to create his own unique mesh of styles.
Danielson was under a WWE developmental deal early in his career when the system was based out of Memphis, but was later released. He's long considered William Regal one of his mentors and has been considered the best in-ring performer not signed to a national company for several years running and has given ROH a number of legitimate classics over the years with everyone from Jushin Liger to KENTA to Paul London to Austin Aries to Samoa Joe, among others.

Danielson was signed to an ROH contract when the company debuted on PPV, but earlier this year opted not to sign a contract extension. He's continued to work for the company since then as an independent contractor.

What are the chances he will actually take it? Didn't WWE offer him a couple of years ago, and he decided to take his chances making money wrestling all around the world?

There's never been a better time for him to go, he's not gonna get any bigger name-wise, WWE has never really been shorter of top talent and there's nothing left for him to do outside of taking his chances with Vince. He'd be daft to turn it down. ROH & friends will still be there if it doesn't work out

maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part, i don't want to see another one of my favorite wrestlers ruined (athletically) by vince and the wwe

To be fair Punk made it, different wrest;ers I know Punk suits the WWE Style a bit better with his stronger promo but perhaps this is Danielsons best chance.

This. Danielson has done it all on the indy scene, and outside of trying to become a mainstay in Japan, what does he have to lose? If it works, great, if it doesn't, he'll go back to where he is now.

With that said, I hope this goes well, but I don't have faith in WWE to use him right. Then again, WWE has been busting out some damn good matches lately. The main problem is his size though;

Well, ROH is making it official:

Bryan Danielson has agreed in principle to a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment.

Bryan has been an exemplary talent and a wonderful member of the Ring of Honor locker room and family since the inception of the company. We couldn’t be happier for Bryan and all of his successes, many of which Ring of Honor has been proud to witness first hand.

We congratulate Bryan on the beginning of this next journey in his brilliant career, and wish him all the best as he progresses. Many Ring of Honor fans refer to Bryan as the “best in the world” and we look forward to looking on in earnest as he shows everyone watching the wrestling world’s biggest stage just why that is.

Bryan will appear as scheduled at all of the September Ring of Honor events. Please join us in Philadelphia, Dayton, Chicago, Boston, and New York as we say thank you and farewell to a truly one-of-a-kind talent.

For one thing one of the reseaons CM Punk has gone so far is because he is Straight Edge. Oh, Yeah and he is also a good wrestler.

But Danielson DOES NOT NEED TO GO AND GET RUIND IN DEVELOPMENTAL.

Danielson is a very smart wrestler. Yes, he does usually wrestle longer matches in ROH, but he's wrestled all over the world, learned different styles, and is very versatile. He's smart enough to be able to wrestle a 3-5 minute match I believe if he had to. I wish him success in the WWE.

No he does not need to go through developemental. Put him on RAW and have go at it with Randy Orton. He will make Randy look good again, or Try to. They can change that God Awful title and it will be FUCKING AWESOME!!!

But, If he goes through developemental all these trainers teach is how to botch and botch alot to keep Vince Pissed off.

Uh yeah because really the only thing to come out of developemental lately is Evan Boure and Sheamus everyone esle they have presented is Garbage and that includes DH Smith. Tyson Kidd is pretty damn good as well and everyone else has sucked.

Yoshi Tatsu another Japenese wrestler that will get buried fast.

Umm Develpoemental is for Mid carders and Body Builders so they can learn how to suck on TV right away.

Danielson just needs to go to RAW and have the Title put on him pronto and then go on legendary ROH style title run.

I am definitely happy over this news. Its almost a year late in my book, since he would have been perfect in the Jericho/Shawn storyline last year. But I hope they just let him come in and be him. His wrestling ability should be enough to get him over.
