Goldberg back?
I don't know if anyone had posted this before...
------- WWE Offers Goldberg New Deal By Ryan Clark WrestlingInc.com Staff March 29, 2004 WWE has put an offer on the table to get Goldberg to return to the company. The deal would apparently include limited dates only and build to a huge program with Steve Austin. Right now, Goldberg seems to be debating whether it will be better for him or worse if he stays off TV for awhile. The general feeling now is that Goldberg will be back when the time and money is right. Credit wrestlinginc.com ------------------

As long as he isn't in a program to go after the World/WWE title then I don't care if he comes back.

Screw Goldberg. Wno needs him. Yes he is good for fan hype but that is it. Look at the guys matches. Not a single one since he made it to the WWE was any good. All the hype for each match made them very horrible matches and no one liked them. I say dont bring him back. Make some good go to the young guns. They need there shot.

Personally, I really like Goldberg. And his matches aren't supposed to be "good." They were never meant to be "good." They're supposed to be fast and intense, with Goldberg looking like a monster, which he does very well. I mean, look at the Elimination Chamber match from SummerSlam 2003. When Goldberg came out of his cell and started spearing and jackhammering everyone, I know I was marking out.
The guy may not be the most talented, but he's a big name and he could be very, very useful to the WWE right now. I would love to see him come back. |

I'm sorry. I'm a fan of the fast beatdown thing, but only if it's actually moving towards a big match. All Goldberg can do is fast, intense, and SHODDY AS FU>CK. I mean, if the guy squashed some jobbers in 9 seconds building up to an awesome match at a PPV, it'd be one thing. But it's just more of the same when he gets up to that PPV. |

Goldberg to me looked far better in wcw as did his matches, the mania 20 match between him and lesnar was an absoloute joke, it was one of those "it'll never happen matches" a couple of years ago and was something fans wanted to see. Now that they did see it they're probably sick at the thought they ever wanted to see it at all. Goldbergs obviously got a lot of power but he needs to use more holds, even that rolling leglace he used in wcw which actually looked pretty good for a guy his size, it was rarely used in wwe. If he could even utilise a few suplexes into his repotoire it would spice up his matches a lot. All they really seem to be is him getting beat down for the majority then him coming back at the end with a 2 move combo to win....actually kinda reminds me of hogans matches when i think about it. Goldberg could be a huge assett to wwe but the way he is now he's just underwhelming, wwe screwing with his character didn;t help matters. I think a spell in ovw would be of great help teaching him new stuff but that idea would go down like the titanic. He has the look, the size, and the intensity and his entrance just echo's all that, he just needs more added to his limited moveset. ![]() NIGGA GRABBED MY BOOB!

The only thing Bill is useful for is his name value. His ringwork is sloppy, he can only do one kid of match, and his interview are barely inteligible. It's like watching Star Wars and Bill is Chewbacca. We dont understand what the **** he's saying, but the people on screen do.
At the same time..like I said...his name value is HUGE. Since he's already laid down for Trips, his only purpose would be to come in, squash midcarders for a few weeks, then job to guys like Y2J and Benoit whose careers would beneift form the exposure; Austin and HHH really don't need a 'rub' IMO. |

My beef with Goldberg is that the only way he really works is if he goes in there and does a few moves and wins. And it's really not fair to come in and do that to everyone if you're not sticking around. And the only way he can lose a match being tazed, is just a tad dumb. It might have been great for WCW, but IMO, I don't think the WWE should have guys like that. Especially after eating a bunch of people and bitching that you're not being used right.

Goldberg needs to:
Cut funny promos, if he's capable. Take more bumps. Be 'friends' with other faces. Spear heels for no reason at all. Be heel, himself for a year. Think about matches before going into them. He actually has a large palet of moves, he chooses not to do them. He needs to do them, outta reversals; that's when they look best. |

Bringing Goldberg back in my Op is a big mistake. For one he has this the No-Sell bit going for him, When his contaract originally came up back in the begining a year ago it stated he couldn't lose to any big names IE: Trips, Taker, Micheals and more. Can't remember em all at this time.
Back in WCW he was also quoted at saying he didn't wanna work with Jericho just because he was so small in build. His Temper also led to him being laid up for six months after putting his fist through a Limo window due to Scott Hall's antics. Upon his arrivel in the WWE he wasn't welcome at all, as a matter of fact several people were upset that he had even been hired. Knowing that with him any pushes they hoped at getting would be put on hold so Goldberg could get his push. Peace, |

In my opinion Goldberg has NO use for WWE right now or ever. I was extremely open to the idea of him in WWE and really tried to get into it (I was even excited when he arrived). The one thing I've learned though is that WWE fans will never REALLY take to Goldberg - and let's face is, Bill's on any use if he's super strong over and drawing, two things I don't think he'll do for WWE.
Ringwork MATTERS to WWE fans - the past few years have shown how the audience's have become accustomed to great, highly-charged main events matches. This is again something that Bill can't really deliver. WWE are beginning to get things right, especially on Raw. New starts are built and given time they're could be some extremely strong, over, NEW main eventers especially on the Raw show. Bringing back Bill would serve no purpose in my mind. A program with Austin is tempting, but at this point Steve should be putting over people like he did with Benjamin on Raw. Would Austin/Goldberg draw? Maybe. I don't think it's a sure-fire winner as it was would have been. They should focus on making stars and feuds that draw, rather than throwing money at one program that might draw. |

There's no doubt an Austin-Goldberg program is no guarantee, but at the same time its the best bet the WWE has for a strong buyrate in the next year.
I dont know how the PPVs will do going forward, but with RAW and especially SD I think buyrates are going to take a huge dive between now and Summerslam. I could see by the time August rolls around that they may get desperate and go for Austin-Goldberg. Really there's nothing wrong with doing that program. Austin can go over, and Goldberg isn't a full time performer, so nobody gets hurt. The only question is when to do the match? Do you do it at SS or save it for Mania 21? Either way, they should do it at some point. |

Plus, if you can use something like Austin-Goldberg to spike a buyarte, and then focus the show on some new guys, in theory they can get over to the casual fans who came to see Austin-Goldberg. |

Well, yeah, but the WWE needs to do more than just shoot their load on one match. This is why we keep seeing these "cyclical" dips in wrestling...A tendency to put it all on one horse, leaving them high and dry when its no longer in the race.
They could increase their buyrates by making the shows more interesting, and of better quality. IT would last longer than a blowout feud. The WWE tends to substitute the latter for the former, though. While you're right, I am pointing out the side effects of such a program. |
