Souled Out 1998 & WCW Nitro

I've been watching the WWE Classics free preview and this week's Monday Night War episode is WCW Nirto the day after Souled Out 1998. It was the ppv where Kevin Nash messed up the Jacknife Powerbomb onto the Giant and on Nitro where they banned the Jacknife.

Did WCW have to create a new storyline to replace the Giant (legit injury) or was the powerbomb meant to look messed up so people would think the Giant was really hurt ?

The way Nitro was the following day almost seems like it was meant to be a fake injury instead of a gut reaction to changing the storyline.

Yeah had a feeling the move was messed up and the Giant was really hurt but the start of Nitro and up till end of 1st hour almost seemed like it was planned in how they had reactions of wrestlers and JJ Dillion banning the powerbomb. Didn't feel rushed or a late change from how smooth it went on tv.

WCW really sold the point that Nash meant to land Giant on his neck. Really, Nash just couldn't support his weight anymore.

Also, thanks for the free preview tip.

Nash had managed to powerbomb Giant a couple of months earlier with no problem at all and they wanted to do the move at the ppv. Yet they didn't think the fact that Giant had put on alot of weight would change things.

Yea, Nash didn't think that he could get him up, but they wanted him to do it anyways. Like said before, Show was a good 100 pounds heavier this time around, and when Nash tried to lift him he could feel the muscles in his back begin to tear, so he decided to drop him. Also Nash claims that show didn't take the move correctly and threw his arms out before he was supposed to which made doing the move even more difficult.

Nash has a couple of shoot interviews where he covers this. I think it was amazing that he was able to do it the first time.
