Sylvia finds his calling in latest Friday the 13th movie

After showing up as a sloppy, hairy 315-pound beast for his last fight, Tim Sylvia is a natural to be cast as a horror film monster. Fighters.com is reporting that he got a gig in the latest Friday the 13th movie. Yes, we're serious.

Sylvia has been a blogosphere punchline since he was knocked out in 10 seconds by 48-year-old Ray Mercer. He's a favorite of photoshoppers. We can't even imagine what comes now when MMA fans find out Sylvia is the latest Jason Vorhees.

Sylvia does have a return fight in less than three weeks on September 18 at Adrenaline MMA 4 in Iowa. The movie is filming in the Boston area. Here's hoping that filming is taking just a few hours a day and he's actually training for his fight against Jason Riley. Fighters.com says Sylvia is working with Boston-based trainer Mark DellaGrotte.

Yeah, saw this yesterday. Always pictured him as more of a Swamp Thing or Toxic Avenger although I guess they're going for a Jason that can actually be knocked out by his victims this time.

I didn't know you could have "super heavyweights" fight in the US..

How did he fight a sanctioned MMA match being almost 50lbs over the heavyweight limit??

Are you kidding me? Theres super heavyweight fights all the time. Especially at the smaller shows. Just because UFC doesnt have a title belt for it doesnt mean its not a legit weight class. Plus you do know the sanction catch weights too right?

I am not a fighter nor do I follow smaller promotions.. Why make a weight limit for heavyweights then period?? Like why can't Lesnar fight at 285lbs or whatever he usually walks around at??

Any promotion that books a guy that cant make 265. UFC and strikeforce wont do it because its not astetically pleasing, and more often than not the fights are shit... plus you have that whole "specticle" label to deal with. While their trying to go the super legit mma rout you wont see superheavyweight....

if you want to see SHW than go on the internet and check out smaller shows around you and you will see it.

I always like seeing gigantic brutes throwing for the fences.. I read that the main reason Sapp has had a lackluster career as far as MMA goes, is that he was so popular in Japan he never had time to train do to all the tv appearances, commercials, etc..

or the fact that he didnt really want to train haha... theres not much he could do anyway. He has so much muscle that he would gas fast regardless.

Also, wasn't the fight held in Alabama where there is ZERO regulation on MMA.

I mean, it's not like Alabama had a congenital amputee in an MMA fight once... oh yeah...

Yea but that doesnt change the fact that they hold and sanction super heavyweight matches.... they have Flyweight too (<125) even though there isnt a major US title for it
