Well, personally, yes, I would. RVD is one of those guys I was never a "mark" for, but while he has been gone, I've appreciated him more and more. The dude was at least a breath of fresh air. While he is an "ECW Original," and SmackDown! would probably use him better, the idea of RVD being on RAW and giving me a main eventer that I am not yet sick of intrigues me. Also, a CM Punk vs. RVD feud equates to money.

This is completely unrealistic, but imagine if RVD returned to RAW, and became the US Champion. Then he wins the 2010 Royal Rumble, and uses that win to jump over to SmackDown!. CM Punk is all "get off my show, stoner," and the two feud heading into WrestleMania 26. There, RVD defeats Punk and wins his first World Heavyweight Championship -- this making RVD the first man to have ever won the WWE Title, ECW Title and World Heavyweight Title. If he wins the US Title during his stint on RAW, this would also mean he has held every single championship available to him. He'd also be a former Money in the Bank and Royal Rumble winner. Add this to what would be a 5-0 undefeated WrestleMania streak. You could easily set RVD up as a major player with this.

God yes..... imagine an RVD/CM Punk storyline...... great "pot is good/pot is bad" promos..... might be pushing the PG-13 rating a bit, but really only one baby-step from where they were with Jeff/Punk......and most definately great matches...start RVD off with a nice month filler feud to get the ring rust off (maybe with Ziggler), then have him jump to the ME with Punk

RVD could step into the Jeff Hardy role nicely as being the babyface that is charismatic in the ring and over as hell with the fans though not necessarily great on the mic. I don't imagine there would be any problems getting over with the younger fans. He's better in the ring and on the mic than Hardy, and as long as crowds still like to point at themselves and say his initials he will be over.

In the years before his departure he toned down his act a little too much for my liking. Whether this was a personal decision or handed down from above, I'm not sure, but I tended to get frustrated when watching some of his matches because although they were decent enough, they were not the blockbusters they could have been.

There's no void in the WWE at the moment for me - he'd be a welcome addition for sure, but not an essential one.

I would give a big hell yeah on that one. He is still popular, as I thought he got one of the biggest pops of the night back at the Rumble. And definitely put him on Smackdown for a feud with Punk. He always seemed to get buried on RAW, so definitely SD would be a better place for him.

I've always been a pretty big RVD mark. He was the main reason I watched the original ECW. He's been in some pretty awesome matches. Besides feuding with Punk, though, I'm not sure where he would fit in without being lost in the shuffle, though. I feel he'd probably get a treatment similar to Christian if he came back. RVD would have definitely been a better ECW Original to hold the title than Dreamer was, but it's nothing he hasn't done before.

Actually, I had an idea a while back similar to Noid's, but instead of winning the US title etc, I thought it'd be cool if RVD was a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble and wins it (since that's never happened before).

I said back at the last Rumble that a feud between Punk and RVD would be amazing not because of storyline continuity but because their styles mesh perfectly. When they were fighting each other in the Rumble they worked so fluidly together. Nobody in the WWE knows how to sell a stiff kick like RVD.

Never liked RVD, so no.

Although... even though I don't like RVD.... a CM Punk/RVD feud is much more tolerable than a CM Punk/Batista feud.

I wonder if Rob's wife is doing well enough that he'd come back ONLY for a feud with Punk?

If so, then we wouldn't have to worry about where to take his character from there. Just have Punk start bringing him up in promos while he's working house shows/dark matches or somesuch to remove the rust, then RVD does a run-in one night to really kick off the feud.

Or even have RVD NOT work off the ringrust, and Punk can bring that up too - the deliterious (sp?) effect that long-term use has.

I think his matches in the WWE are just so routine and predictable, that they are kind of boring.

I agree with this, but time has made me miss him. Plus, compared to a lot of the other main eventers (specifically the guys on RAW), this is nothing to hold against a guy.

Holly had already been with WWE for something like fifteen years, and during his final run, he was probably the most credible he had ever been during his tenure besides his feud with Brock Lesnar on SmackDOWN! a few years previous. If you recall, he was the first one to defeat CM Punk since his ECW debut. That back slice match was pretty good, and I actually did enjoy the work he was doing on ECW, but I think they did about the best they could with him. I definitely wouldn't go as far as to say that WWE 'shit the bed' with him, though. Honestly, I probably would have been furious if he was a full-fledged main eventer.
