Demigod and "Age of ____" for PC

I've been a big fan of RTS games and I was wondering has anyone here played Demigod for the PC? I heard it was a good cross between Age Of Empires and Warcraft 3 with an intersting developmental aspects for your units. I was also wondering has anyone remember which Age of Empires/ Mythology game has it so that when villagers see a building of yours go down they become a milita-like unit? Any info on wither game would be helpful.

Demigod is actually very fun, but I don't know how big the community is now. Has the very nice back-and-forth that DotA has, but unfortunately the end game in my experience occurs way past when it is decided. But players would usually quit out at the point anyway.
