Mayweather in a fight that would be boring to people who aren't fans of boxing.

In the casual fans eyes Mayweather is a very boring fighter. He does a great job outside of the ring of promoting and creating hype but his style within the ring isn't very conducive to a random viewer of a fight.

Mayweather is truly a great fighter, but has never fought anyone with the heart of Pac. I can see this being a coin flip, but Pac comes out on top in this one.

Hatton had the heart, just not the talent. I still don't see Mayweather losing though. I think he wins a decision.

Good point and I agree. I will elaborate on my previous post and thought. For Pac to win, he will need to knock out Mayweather which I think he will do. If it goes to the crooked judges, Mayweather will win. They don't call him "Money Mayweather" for nothing.

LAS VEGAS -- The proposed megafight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. was thrown into jeopardy Tuesday with a demand by Mayweather's camp that both fighters be subjected to Olympic-type drug testing in the weeks leading up to the bout.

Mayweather's manager said the fight would not go on if Pacquiao didn't agree to blood testing under standards followed by the United States Anti-Doping Agency.

"There is no fight without Olympic-style random drug testing," Leonard Ellerbe said.

Mayweather's camp claims it was told Pacquiao would not agree to have his blood tested within 30 days of the fight because of personal superstitions. But Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, said he could live with some testing, as long as it wasn't too close to the fight and wasn't overly intrusive.

"I will not let my fighter take a blood test the day before a fight," Roach said. "If they give me a five-day window or something like that I have no problem with it."

Roach said he hoped the issue wasn't brought up as a way to get Mayweather out of the fight.

"He's looking for a back door out," Roach said. "We're eager to fight."

The fight, which promises to be the richest ever, had widely been expected to be formalized this week, with an official announcement Jan. 6. It was expected to be held at the MGM Grand hotel, with the biggest live gate ever.

But neither fighter has signed formal contracts and there have been disputes between representatives of the two fighters ever since Mayweather's promoter pulled out at the last minute of a trip to Texas, where Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was to make a proposal to host the bout.

But Mayweather's promoter, Richard Schaefer, said all other issues have been agreed upon.

"The good news is we have agreed on all the other points," Schaefer said. "Depending on what Manny Pacquiao decides to do, we either have a fight or we don't have a fight."

Schaefer said he is still hopeful of the fight happening, based on the fact Pacquiao himself has not publicly said he would not accept blood testing.

"I am still hopeful because I really believe this decision didn't come from Manny Pacquiao, it came from somebody else," Schaefer said. "It's up to Manny Pacquiao to prove me right or wrong."

Pacquiao has never failed a post-fight urine test in Nevada, including his last fight when he stopped Miguel Cotto. Mayweather also has passed urine tests in the state after his fights.

Fighters, though, are not routinely tested before bouts for performance-enhancing drugs, and there are no blood tests done for those drugs.

Mayweather's father, Floyd Sr., said after the Cotto fight that he suspected Pacquiao was using performance-enhancing drugs to move up and win titles in so many weight classes. Ellerbe did not make that claim, but said that for a fight of such magnitude fans deserve to be confident neither fighter is cheating.

"If it's good enough for LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Michael Phelps and Lance Armstrong why isn't it good enough for Manny Pacquiao?" Ellerbe asked. "The fans and sports deserve a level playing field."

Travis Tygart, executive director of the USADA, said he had talked to representatives of both fighters about providing testing. Tygart said he welcomed the request as he would for any sport that does not have stringent Olympic-type testing.

"I think every sport that wants to have clean athletes it's a sign of a step forward to have out of competition testing," Tygart said. "It's an essential thing to do if you want to protect the integrity of the sport. Clean athletes want a level playing field."

Tygart noted Olympic athletes are tested often and without notice. He said less than a teaspoon of blood is removed out of an average of 380 teaspoons in the normal human and that it regenerates within an hour of being withdrawn.

Blood tests, he said, can find things urine tests can't, like the use of human growth hormone, synthetic hemoglobin or blood transfusions, all of which "certainly would aid in an endurance-type event."

Ellerbe said he couldn't imagine why Pacquiao wouldn't agree, especially considering both fighters would likely make more than $25 million for the bout.

"Only Manny Pacquiao can answer that question," Ellerbe said. "The ball is in his court."

Manny Pacquiao may indeed fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on March 13, but the opponent may not be Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Promoter Bob Arum on Thursday made an offer to former world champion Paulie Malignaggi for a fight with Pacquiao on March 13. Arum extended the offer to Malignaggi promoter Lou DiBella, who could not be reached for comment on Christmas Eve.

While the offer hardly means the proposed Pacquiao-Mayweather fight is off, it makes resuscitating it that much harder. The fight, which is expected to be the highest-grossing bout in boxing history, has come to a halt over a dispute over drug testing.
Mayweather is insisting upon testing administered by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, which requires random urine and blood testing up to and including on the day of competition. Pacquiao is willing to submit blood samples, though he doesn’t want to give blood too close prior to a fight because he believes it weakens him.
Arum said Pacquiao would submit to testing, but wants it under the auspices of the Kansas City, Mo.-based National Center for Drug Free Sports.
“All we’re asking is to get a different agency other than (USADA) because they’re clearly inflexible,” Arum said. “We can go with this other one and they’ll come up with a protocol and get it done in an organized way and we’ll still achieve the desired results. “The bottom line is that the (National Center for Drug Free Sports) could do it and wouldn’t interfere as intrusively as USADA.”
Arum said there appears nothing left to negotiate with the Mayweather side, because it will not back off its demand for testing by USADA. Arum said he spoke with Pacquiao’s attorney, Franklin “Jeng” Gacal, on Thursday and said Gacal told him Pacquiao’s position had not changed.
Arum said he decided to make an offer to Malignaggi because Pacquiao wants to fight before he begins his campaign for a seat in the Filipino congress.
“(Team Mayweather) has their position and we have ours and it looks like we’re on different paths, so I made the offer to Lou (for Malignaggi),” Arum said. “No big deal.”
Arum landed an unlikely ally on Thursday when super lightweight world champion Timothy Bradley spoke out in favor of his position.
Bradley was brought into the fray when his promoter, Gary Shaw, issued a news release saying that Bradley was willing to fight either Mayweather or Pacquiao if the fight between them fell apart.
But Shaw then did an interview with Boxingscene.com after his release became public and said Bradley wouldn’t fight Pacquiao unless Pacquiao submitted to the same testing as Mayweather was requesting.
That would make little sense, because if Pacquiao were to accept such testing, he’d do it to fight Mayweather in what would be the richest fight in history.
And Bradley said that’s not his position anyway. He said he hoped the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight was made.
“This whole thing with Pacman and Mayweather is baloney with the steroid and blood testing thing,” Bradley said. “The fans want to see this fight. Everyone wants to see the fight. I want to see it. This is the fight that should be made. But this testing stuff is crazy.
“I’m not worried about Manny Pacquiao. He’s not on steroids. Just because he’s destroying guys, you want to say he’s on steroids? Come on. He’s just that good. He’s been tested how many times and he’s never tested positive. Neither has Mayweather.”
Bradley said he would fight either man if he were given an offer and said he wouldn’t demand tests, as Shaw said he would.
He said he has confidence in commissions like the Nevada Athletic Commission and the California State Athletic Commission to properly administer testing.
“These are big-time commissions and they have a track record of doing the right thing and protecting fighters,” he said. “They clearly take their jobs seriously. You have to do a lot to satisfy their requirements. I don’t get why anyone would be asking for these blood tests above and beyond what Nevada or California might do.
“Neither guy has a history and I think history shows you that the boxers who have tried steroids find it doesn’t work. Look at (Fernando) Vargas. When he fought Oscar (De La Hoya), it turns out he was on steroids and he got tired. Look what happened to him. He got knocked out.”

Stupid to think about contracting another fighter to replace Mayweather since its going to kill off all interest for the March fight since everyone wants to see those 2 guys fight as soon as possible.

Might hurt both fighters reputations for the short term since Pac would look suspicious in not wanting to take drug tests which could make people believe he might have been "juicing" in other fights. Mayweather would lose out on his trash talking reputation if people thought he was scared to lose in a fight he helped promote last few months.

Yeah Mayweather's reputation is going to be hurt the most without a fight but Mayweather did put Pac in a bad situation with the initial drug test refusal since people might start to question how "clean" Pacquiao might be after all.

Smart move by Mayweather though since it brings attention off himself and makes people question Pac's boxing reputation for a while during the whole confusion.

The thing is, it's not like Mayweather has fought anyone of Pac's caliber.

It's also not like Pac hasn't beaten people better than Mayweather.

Pac is willing to take blood tests after the fight. He's willing to go by the NSAC's testing standards, or even the NBA's, MLB's or the NFL's. That's not good enough for Mayweather. Even if it was, Floyd would likely bitch about something else, like the size of Pac's moustache.
