Droz's Injury
Does anyone know where there might be a video of it? Interested to see it tbh but can't find it.

Pretty sure it was at a house show or at least a dark match.

I believe it was a Smackdown episode actually. I remember a friend telling me about it, unless he went to the house show which I don't remember that happening.

It was a Smackdown taping - I doubt the accident ever aired, so there's unlikely to be a video of it.

Footage definitely exists since it was a SmackDown! taping at Nassau Coliseum, but it's never been (and likely never will be) out in the wild.
From what I know, it was a botched running powerbomb. |

I've heard two versions of the incident.
One was that D'Lo Brown, who was giving Droz a Running Powerbomb, tripped over Droz's baggy shirt that he had tied around his waist and it caused D'Lo Brown to botch the Powerbomb and fall on top of Droz with some force while Droz was upside down, and Droz fell on his head and basically demolished his entire neck. The other is pretty much the same, the only difference is that it wasn't Droz's shirt that caused D'Lo to botch the move, it was a fan's drink that someone had thrown into the ring and it caused D'Lo to slip while he was giving Droz a Running Powerbomb. |

According to what I've found on Wikipedia:
Drozdov's active wrestling career ended suddenly when he suffered a severe neck injury during a match with D'Lo Brown during a WWF SmackDown! taping on October 5, 1999 at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. Drozdov, in an interview, states he was wearing a loose shirt during the match. When Brown went for his signature running powerbomb, he wasn't able to gain a proper grip on Droz while Droz wasn't able to execute a proper jump to aid in the lifting of the powerbomb. As a result, the move was botched. Drozdov landed on his head, and fractured two disks in his neck.[3] He was immediately rushed to Nassau County Medical Center where he underwent hours of surgery to reduce and stabilize the pressure on his injured neck. Even with intensive medical care, his injury left him a quadriplegic. Fellow wrestler Mick Foley recounts in his 2001 book Foley Is Good: And the Real World Is Faker than Wrestling, that he was at the hospital with D'Lo Brown after the match. Brown was extremely upset at what had happened. Foley tells how Drozdov (on a stretcher) told Brown not to blame himself and that it was an accident. Brown was also so upset about the incident, that he deeply considered retiring from wrestling all together. |

The match was supposed to air on Smackdown, but WWE never aired it for obvious reasons. So long story short, the video exists somewhere in WWE's library, but the fans will never see it.

Damn that sucks, a morbid part of me wants to see it. Sucks for Droz though.
I did see a picture of it years ago, but it was of D'Lo carrying Droz on his shoulders just going down for a slam or summit. |

I think they show the video of him being carried out during the "please dont try this at home" thing.
