WWE really needs to do Brand Only PPVs again.
Just looking at the TLC PPV and who was left off, wasn't the original idea behind the brand split because the roster was too big and this would give more wrestlers a chance to make a name for themselves?
I know at each PPV there's gonna be a lot of people left off the card, but the TLC one had a LOT of WWEs rising stars not on it. For starters, you go on WWE.com and the first thing you see is a TLC advertisement with Punk diving through the air. The same CM Punk who has had an amazing year, and then all of a sudden doesn't appear on the PPV. The Miz, MVP, Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger, Divas Champion Melina, CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, Hart Dynasty, Kane, Matt Hardy, R-Truth, Cryme Time, The Hurricane, Paul Birchill and William Regal. So many names that are being left off month after month. We've got people like Triple H saying in interviews that these guys never go that extra mile to really step up, how can they when they never get onto any PPV's? The same PPVs where DX are always hogging the spotlight. If the WWE went back to brand only PPVs, I think Raw or Smackdown/ECW clearly has a big enough roster to fill a card. And that way a lot of undercard guys will get their shot at a PPV and to really prove themselves. Just a rant I wanted to get off my chest. ![]() |

I really disagree, while I do find it very disappointing that Punk was not on the card. WWE need to use time better and stop taking so much time to set up matches and do angles. CM Punk vs R-Truth should have been on the card absolutely. It could be a short match whatever, it's fine but CM Punk needs to be on all PPV's.

I disgree as well. The most important thing about a pay-per-view is that people have to actually PAY for it. The biggest problem with the brand exclusive PPVs was that there were always a bunch of 'filler' matches that could have just as easily been run on Raw. Involving all brands in the PPVs allows the WWE to pull the hottest feuds/potential matches from all of the brands and showcase the 'best of' their current product, so to speak.

...and yes, I know that something like Morrison/McIntyre on tonight's card may not be 'best of' material, but at least it was a title match with some modicum of backstory. The problem isn't having all of the brands on the PPVs as much as it is deserving people not getting proper pushes.

I agree that the lack of brand only PPVs is leaving a bunch of wrestlers off the PPVs each month but when the WWE had brand exclusive PPVs, the numbers for each PPV were some of the lowest in years and Smackdown PPVs tended to be lower than Raw's on average. The WWE needed to make some changes to regain money they were loosing while making the PPVs more attractive for potential buyers.
The bigger issue is WWE needs to do better long term booking and planning to prevent the same few people or feuds be in every PPV while making better use of PPV time to get as many quality matches possible per show. |

I would buy SmackDown!-brand PPVs, for the record.

and then when those cards are stretched thin over 3 hours you'll start a thread about how they need to end the split

I wouldn't mind them extending the shows a bit, making them 3 1/2-4 hours.

I actually do like the idea of brand only ppvs again. There seems to be way too many people left off of every ppv. Or even combine Smackdown and ECW if needed. There have been a few ECW matches that could make ppv, but most of those guys never get on.

What the WWE really needs to do with its PPVs is stop showing 10 minute recaps of what led up to every match. We already know this stuff or we wouldn't have dropped the $40 to see the show.
Get rid of all these and you can put 1-2 more matches on each card. If you insist on doing these recaps, do it WHILE the guys are coming to the ring, not BEFORE. |

ABT, complaining about them not pushing people would have been a valid arguement anytime except right now.

I'm no so sure that one is any better than the other on one hand you get the best of the entire product but the card gets crammed with mostly title matches. I'm not fan of ECW but the fact that it only gets 1 match that always involves the Champion sure the roster is smaller but they need a bit more exposure. With shows having less regular PPVs it will make those matches have that much more significance imho and we will see less shows with the same 2 or 3 guys facing one another.

People complain either way, when they go brand only people complain there's too many shitty filler matches, when they're dual/tri-branded people moan that people are being left off. Just leave it as it is, at least there's more quality this way. And more star power for WWE to sell so they won't be changing any time soon.
