DVD Burning question

Hey guys, how is it going? Alright here, let me cut to the chase, I was wondering if there is a free program out there that can let me burn .avi files, to a DVD, and lets me play it in a standard DVD player or one that lets you play DVD-R's? Thanks a lot in advance!
