I can't believe Rey Mysterio is going to be champ.

That's totally ridiculous. He must be retiring soon.

I don't think he'll win the belt. Dunno, just doesn't make sense.

On the bright side, Taker and Mysterio had a pretty entertaining match on SD a few weeks ago.

Dude, Sheamus is the champ on RAW, nothing makes sense to me. What I see here is a retarded way for Mysterio to get the belt without Taker getting pinned. Feuds don't typically start between 2 people over a belt they don't even have. Least not usually.

EDIT: Wow, I misread results. I thought there was a triple threat.

It's not a triple threat as it stands now, but they've still got 3+ weeks to tinker with the Royal Rumble card before all is said and done.

That having been said, most triple threats, especially when for the WWE, ECW or WHC's, are usually quite underwhelming. I can't imagine how people would watch Rey v. Bats v. Taker without blowing their freakin' brains out.

I don't think Rey Mysterio will beat The Undertaker. I feel this is the long-rumoured "big reign" to Taker for his years with the company. I could see him taking the belt through WrestleMania, to be honest.

It would have been Hillarious if they went through with Evan Bourne/Sheamus at the RR as well.

Rey/Evan as champs at the same time, like I said in chat, would probably cause a black hole and implode the universe.

Rey Mysterio as World Heavyweight Champion would not be that bad. The guy has been doing amazing work recently, and he's closer to being a draw than a lot of other people on the roster are. Michael Hayes would also know how to book it.

He'd probably either drop the title soon thereafter to Batista, or he'd carry it into WrestleMania -- and considering his rumoured WrestleMania opponent at one stage was CM Punk -- that could be a very, very good thing.

If they go with HBK vs. Undertaker for Mania, then they don't need him to hold the World Title. The match builds itself. A CM Punk/Mysterio match for the World Title would be much better and gives something over which those two can fight. Or even Batista/Punk/Mysterio/Jericho for the World Title.

I do think that the rumored triple threat match between Taker, Batista and Rey is going to be how they take the belt off of Taker without making him look weak.

Depends on how he treats his body. He's already had a couple serious surgeries. I mean, he might be around for years, or he might not. And even if he is, he might be a broken-down remnant who needs assistance to "jump" out of the ground for his vintage entrance.

Not even (this will all be purely hypothetical and highly unlikely to happen, BUT...just bear with me...) if, for instance HBK wins and declares to opt for a shot at the WHC? "This way", he will say, "The Undertaker can no longer run from another rematch with me!" this of course prompts a response from Undertaker on an edition of SmackDown! where Undertaker comes onto the titantron and challenges Shawn to an All-or-Nothing style match, and the stipulation is No Count-Outs, No DQ's, just a no holds barred fight...for Undertaker's World Championship and both men's careers. Whoever won would become World Heavyweight Champion, and whoever lost would have to retire from the WWE.

I still haven't given up on the idea that the WWE may do The Undertaker vs. John Cena for the World Heavyweight Championship. All that needs to happen is this -- Shawn Michaels becomes the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship on RAW somehow. Even though there is a tournament going on for the Divas Championship, I'd do a one-night tournament as follows:

Kofi Kingston vs. Shawn Michaels
HBK wins after making Kofi look like a star.

John Cena vs. Big Show
Big Show manages to pick up the victory after Sheamus interferes on Show's behalf. It continues the angle between Cena and Sheamus for a bit, and Cena can even enter the Rumble under the idea that he will win and challenge Sheamus if he is still champion at WrestleMania.

Triple H vs. Randy Orton
Legacy helps Orton win the match. Earlier in the night, Triple H and Shawn Michaels have a segment where talk about the possibility of facing each other in the tournament, and they ask Hornswoggle who they think would win. Horny says HBK, and Triple H being eliminated early builds tension between them.

The Miz vs. MVP
The #1 Contender for The Miz's United States Championship proves he can beat the champ here, with a clean victory, so the fans can get behind him a bit when it does come time for his match against The Miz.

Shawn Michaels vs. Big Show
HBK manages to defeat The Giant in a match that I think would be relatively fresh as a singles pairing.

Randy Orton vs. MVP
MVP actually manages to defeat Orton when The Miz surprises everyone and helps MVP win. The Miz can say that when he does beat MVP, he wants it to be while MVP is the WWE Champion, so that The Miz can prove it is Decade of The Miz.

Shawn Michaels vs. MVP
The finals see HBK win the tournament, with MVP laying out The Miz backstage, saying he doesn't want his help. Hopefully this would be another star-making match, and HBK is announced as Sheamus' challenger at the Royal Rumble.

From here, Sheamus and HBK start feuding, and at the Rumble, HBK wins his fourth WWE Championship. This really kicks the tension between DX into overdrive, as Triple H feels that Shawn Michaels' is overshadowing him, or whatever. This sets them on a path towards a WWE Title match at WrestleMania. Meanwhile, John Cena wins the Royal Rumble, and because Sheamus is no longer the WWE Champion, he decides to go over to SmackDown! and not only become World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania, but end the streak of The Undertaker. That's two huge WrestleMania matches set.

Uhm, you guys do realize that Rey Mysterio has already won the World Championship, right. It was only a few years ago. I believe, if I'm not mistaken, he had it for a couple of months. It's really not so completely unbelievable that the WWE would give him the title again.

Are you sure it was Rey? I remember a Mexican with the title, but everyone was chanting "Eddie, Eddie, Eddie...."

'Swoggle was CW champ as XCaliber mentioned, and it was just awful...probably the only move I ever agreed with that Vickie made was stripping him of it so the little fella didn't get turned into roadkill by some overzealous cruiserweight who could potentially do all kinds of damage to poor Swog if he weren't careful. I may hate his interfering little guts, but I'm not heartless.

I know, tell me about it. There's no way in fuck Rey should have ever won the World Heavyweight Championship at WM 22 in '06, "tribute" to Eddie or not...you wanna really respect the man? Leave him the fuck be, Vince! He's been dead for 4+ years now, and your ass STILL sometimes tries to evoke memories of him where not needed. I will always be of the belief and strong and steadfast conviction that Orton should have been the one to walk out of Chicago that night as new World Champion.

I bet Eddie rolled in his grave a couple times during WM weekend that year: once for his HoF induction, which if you ask me, could have waited until the 2007 "class", and of course, the little masked jumping bean pulling off the big "miracle win", just because he's the biggest little man in WWE or whatever line of BS they use to promote Rey these days.

Both Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero have won the title. I do remember watching Rey with the title a few years ago.

Here's what happened. He won the Royal Rumble match in 2006, thus giving himself a match for the world championship at Wrestlemania. On an episode of Smackdown following the Royal Rumble, he lost the title shot to Orton. However, Theodore Long decided to put him in the world title match at Wrestlemania, anyway, and the match became a triple threat with Mysterio vs Orton vs Angle. After dedicating the match to Eddie Guerrero, because of Guerrero's death, he pinned Orton to win the title.

I don't remember how long he held it for, but I think it was a couple of months. It isn't really all that unbelievable that the WWE would give him the title again, especially with his popularity. I mean, if they gave Sheamus the title on Raw, what make Mysterio so unbelievable. Mysterio has many, many years left in wrestling.

Got it.

I do get it, but since Rey was, at one time, world champion, it isn't really that hilarious anymore. I mean, I too poked fun at the possibility, but then he won it and all the hilarity for me ended. For me, it's just not funny anymore. I'm not particularly new, either. I've been reading many of these forums for several years. I just haven't taken the time to reply to any of them.

Okay, seriousness over. Have fun.

Well, if you don't think it's funny then it can't be funny to anybody in the entire world. Problem solved. Good work.

No, no, no -- this was AFTER Rey Mysterio won the World Heavyweight Title. You're going to get your ass handed to you by some of the guys here. But yes, jokes aside, I do agree with you -- Rey is not too bad a choice for a World Champion.

His run in 2006 was an abortion, though. Some people around here are naive, and believe that the WWE never had main event plans for Rey Mysterio. I believe they were planning to take a crack with him a long time before Eddie's death; but they decided that would be the perfect springboard for Rey, and it backfired on them. It was annoying that Rey got to dedicate the Rumble to Eddie Guerrero, yet guys like Chris Benoit and Chavo Guerrero could not.

I remember hoping that Chris Benoit would win the 2006 Royal Rumble, and use his title shot to challenge Kurt Angle for the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania 22. They could have put Benoit over, and then had a moment where the confetti came down, and such, just like at WrestleMania XX -- only for there to be a notable absence of Eddie Guerrero. Chavo could have come out and hugged Benoit, or something.

But once Rey Mysterio won, they booked him like an idiot, and added Randy Orton for no reason at all. Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio would have been a fine World Title match, given the history and chemistry both guys had. But whatever.

Thanks to Supreme's Better Wrestler series lately featuring Storm, I've been looking for any of his work in '03-'04 where he does the fun guy routine instead of being " Mr. Serious ". Alas, YT has not yielded anything, however, I'm sorting through some vids of Armageddon '03 where he and, Goldust, I believe were involved in tag team turmoil for the (then) World Tag Team championships.
