SupaNovaHBK has done some stupid things
the moment....

what moment made you passionate about wrestling? more then a fan

mine was no mercy 2007. leading up to this match was the angle with orton beating up cena's dad. my own father and me were somewhat interested in wrestling for the first time ever, and absolutely loved the fact that little cry baby cena's dad was getting beat up.

anyway it wasnt any one match. it was the ppv build up and conclusion. i couldnt believe it wen vince ordered HHH to be in 3 title matches.

loved orton from that moment on.

and actually thought HHH would win all 3 matches, cause i saw wrestling as somethiing where the hero can be beat up for ages only to win. loved it

Honestly, for as long as I can remember being a fan (late 96 or so) I was pretty obsessed. By the time SummerSlam 97 rolled around (my second live show and first PPV) it became my passion.

I got in just as the WWF was heading into the Attitude Era, so I think that and Austin's rise was what really did it for me.

Honestly, I couldn't tell you why I've stayed with it this long. It feels like it's apart of my life (and was one of the only constants during my darker days). Even in my downtime in obsession from about 04 through 07 or so, I was following pretty closely, watching every RAW and following online. Though those years tend to run together for me.

Similarly to Xero, wrestling was always around and I always liked it.

But I began to get REALLY into it Summerslam 1996 with the Boiler Room Brawl between Taker and Mankind with Paul Bearer turning on Undertaker.

Then I REALLY REALLY got into it after Wrestlemania 13 and Bret Hart vs Steve Austin.

I'm just a casual fan these days

But the Attitude era got me into it up until around Kane shaved his hair- I stopped caring by then and up until Benoit went nuts, I didn't look up wrestling news or results really. So other then passing by Smackdown every couple of months (after Benoit's steroid surprise slaughter) I didn't really *watch* it again up until I think spring of 2008 for some reason I was bored and remembered that RAW was on so I started watching RAW again.

The 2001 Royal Rumble did it for me. Kane was my favourite wrestler, and seeing him do so well sort of felt like a reward for watching.

Bret and Austin at Wrestlemania 13 during the double turn. When I seen Austin do the push-up while in the Sharpshooter with blood gushing down his face. You could feel emotionally everything they were doing. It also gave one of the coolest video clips ever as well.

I've been watching since 1993, and don't recall any legit 'moment' that made me a passionate fan.

There are moments that I'll never forget etc, but never a moment that actually converted me, I was hooked the moment I started.

All I know is that my fandom changed when I picked up ROH Round Robin Challenge. Before then I was the type of wrestling fan that cared more about storylines than matches, now its more evenly distributed leaning towards caring more about in ring athletisism.

HBK turning heel on the barbershop
Jake's snake biting Savage
Warrior/Slaughter match at Rumble 91.

The first three Clash of Champions in '88 really stand out in my mind as events that pushed wrestling from "cool to watch" into a realm of awe inspiration for me.

I got into it because of my friends in late 1999. Kept following it then out of habit really as my number of friends who also watched it dwindled down. There must have been some reason why I kept watching whilst everyone around me lost interest. Just some kind of immortal flame in my mind I guess. The moment that sealed my love and passion for it though was Wrestlemania XX. Up until that point it was just a hobby and a bit of a habit for a bit of fun, but that show really hit home the respect I had for the athleticism and passion of these guys for doing what they do on grueling schedules all year round. So yeah that was the moment I changed from just a fan to passionate about the business.

I've been watching pretty much my whole life, but those three moments right there are moments that I remember being emotionally affected by. I was legitimately pissed off when Randy Savage cracked that septor over the Warrior's head and Sgt. Slaughter won the title. I was sincerely worried when Damien bit Randy Savage. I was shocked at Marty Jannetty's cowardice when he jumped through the Barber Shop window.

Another moment that stuck with me is when Earthquake 'killed' Damien by sitting on him. I remember Jake Roberts slowly crawling towards the bag after the attack and peering into it, before throwing it back shut and just losing it.

I really started watching wrestling as the Lawler/Kaufman feud was heating up. I was 10 and had watched sporadically prior to that, but couldn't believe my uncle when he tried to teach me about kayfabe (I was probably 8 at that time). Then I got to go see a house show when I was in high school, and they really played up the "distracted ref" line in a Lawler vs. Nature Boy Buddy Landel match, with Landel blindfolded.
