It is just a rumor but it looks like Xbox 360 will have some exclusive stuff (not counting the exclusive stuff that comes in the collector's edition but its the same for PS3).

Exclusive Mode: Puzzle Kombat – Features online play, leaderboards, and avatar support.
Exclusive Arena: The Pit 360 – Remake of The Pit III from MK3
King of the Hill mode will include avatar support.
DLC Character “Lady in Red” will be available to Xbox Live users as a free download for a limited time after her release.
Exclusive avatar gear will be available for purchase.

As of now, Kratos is the only thing exclusive for the PS3 version.

The second women can be seen in the arena stage of the game. In the same situation as other female charcters are seen.

This piece of news really isn't about the game but it does concern the live-action Mortal Kombat trailer that was shown months ago and then confirmed to be a real series. It is going to be released about a week before the game itself is available for sale.

The much-anticipated live-action Mortal Kombat web series will premier on Machinima on April 12, it has been revealed.

Announced earlier this year, the Mortal Kombat web series stars Michael Jai White as Jax and Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade in a gritty, realistic interpretation of the series's signature characters.

The premiere episode will air on April 12 at 4pm PST on Machinima. Prior to the premiere, a four-hour live stream will be held featuring director Kevin Tancharoen, select guest actors from the show and gameplay footage from the upcoming Mortal Kombat videogame.

well.. no they had the story at the beginning of every game and the character bios that would play if you let the game go idle and then the endings and then each game progressed and used whatever endings made sense

and the classic skins and fatalities are already in the game. They are all in the krypt but cost an ass load of coin. So the preordering gives you the opportunity to get the skins right away without having to unlock them.

Finished the story, they're all retarded. Depending on the boss, it's either spam projectiles or jump in-punch uppercut and repeat. Cheap if you play properly, but retarded.

If you enjoy the MK mythology, you'll love it. I mean the reboot is even in the original canon which is kinda cool and there's noload times at all.

If you don't though, the cutscenes are lonnnnnnngggg and unskippable.

Also, no fatalities.

Are we talking 45 minute long, unskippable cutscenes after 3 hours of no save points, followed immediately by a crazy hard boss battle? Because that's Star Ocean territory right there.

Apparently the Xbox 360 was meant to have an exclusive character once the studio managed to get Kratos for the PS3 but for some strange reason they were not able to decide on who to pick or get the permission needed.

They also felt that unlike the PS3 version, the Xbox 360 version was strong enough to sell on its own and didn't need the help. This was before they realized the extra character for the PS3 was a huge deal and the Xbox 360 really did need some sort of exclusive stuff to keep its sales.

During an interview with Eurogamer, series co-creator Ed Boon said that NetherRealms wanted to acquire an exclusive character for the 360 version but "pesky" circumstances got in the way and he wanted the fans to know that the developers were not simply thinking that the 360 version didn't need its own bonus character.

"Anybody who's really knowledgeable about the Xbox video games, the big titles, names like Master Chief from Halo, Marcus Fenix from Gears of War, and any other Xbox exclusive title, is going to come up in a conversation in talking about it. So clearly we've discussed it."

When asked what those "pesky" circumstances were, he said that he was not allowed to talk about it.

I have a feeling Rare would have said no to any Killer Instinct characters because then it would mean they would be pressured into making a Killer Instinct 3 when they have no desire right now and want to focus on Kinect games.

Depending on how you feel about the whole Online Pass situation, Ed Boon tries to explain why the idea is very good and helpful for his studio.

NetherRealm’s own Ed Boon state that it’s is indeed necessary. "When we sell a game, we need to recuperate the cost of development. These games cost many many millions of dollars to produce. If somebody is re-selling our game and cutting us out of the sharing of the profits of the game, to pay for our games we need to do something to protect our investment."

He doesn't mention anything about DLC being a way studios can recuperate costs but believes his studio deserves a share of every sale of the game regardless if it is new or used. Definitely enjoying it. I absolutely love that each character has an ending in the arcade mode, plus there's a full story mode. Pretty awesome that they didn't skimp out on stuff for single player modes (like MvC3).

Also, I love Stryker's non fatality victory pose. Definitely one of the most bad add ever. If you haven't seen it, check it out.

On a side note, I really want Shang Tsung's arcade ending to be cannon, as that would be fucking sweet.

He takes Shao Kahn's soul, and is overwhelmed with power and about to kill himself. Before he does, Bo Rai Cho comes and helps train Shang so he can control his new power. Bo needs to help Shang because he's the only one powerful enough to stop Liu Kang, who has essentially become a god himself and gone mad with power.

I bought this yesterday and I fucking love it. I was very pessimistic going into this, as I have been disappointed by all the recent mk releases, but this game really impressed. The style and pacing is right up my alley. Enjoy it more than any fighter outside of SFIV. I really enjoyed the story mode. Yeah the dialogue is hokey as fuck, but whatever. Looking forward to the inevitable sequel, to see where this new MK mythology goes from here.

I noticed that Lui Kang was still going "wah wah wooo woo wah" in his high pitched voice that he's been doing since the first game. Was a little annoying.

The animation is more detailed, although I personally don't know if the fun factor will be there for me anymore......I've beaten the shit out of many Mortal's in the past that if I go and get this game I'll feel it has Madden syndrome.

I'd think, "Don't you have living opponents? Arcade/Story modes are not the point of fighting games." Always found it strange.

Ed Boon states in an interview that the team is working on a new system to deliver updates that don't require big patches or mandatory downloads.

According to Ed Boon in an interview with Eurogamer the team at NetherRealm can make various adjustments to special moves, balances, and even fix any infinites found after the games release.

While Boon didn’t go into detail as to how this technology works, he did describe it as a sort of getting mini updates. "We can do it without having players have to download a patch. Yeah, Kenshi was great. I would also love for Shujinko to show up, but I don't foresee it happening. I'm wondering if there will be DLC costumes too, since some of the alts are really badass in this game. I really wouldn't mind an MK3 unmasked subzero, Kabal from his ending, etc. I also really want Shang's old school soul steal fatality (even though he pretty much just has it as a throw now, which also heals him, which is badass)

i dont think so. I think the point of the final scene was that Shinnok had gotten the worriors he needed for the Nether Realm to challenge Earth Realm in mortal kombat. i think by rewritting history raiden has opended up the door for a much greater threat. Earth greatest heros fighting AGAINST it.

Either way, I want evil/god Liu Kang, and super powered but disciplined Shang from Shang's ending. Also, I'm fully expecting Scorpion to go after Quan Chi in the next one, since he doesn't in this one.

Anyway, the potential is there for the next one, I just hope they can introduce enough new characters, without getting rid of the old ones. That's one of the reasons I love this game, it has all the characters I love, not some of the crappy/bland new ones. Although I expect some guys to show up in the future, since they have cameos in this game (Havik, Fujin, Shinnok, Bo Rai Cho)

Yeah, there is some way to do them to Kintaro and Goro. I think it has something to do with doing one to Shao Kahn, and maybe inputting it before it falls. There's also one for Shao Kahn, but I can't figure that one out.

I really like Destor's idea for Netherealm's opposition in the sequel. Really hope they go that way.

Also, you guys are talking about kenshi and scarlet as DLC, but you do know that Kintaro is coming in the same pack, right?

I think Rain is a given at this point. Motaro as well, given that his model is already made, and technically in the game. I'm thinking we won't see that many more characters until the sequel. They'll definitely want to save characters like fujin and reiko for the next game. I think we have enough for now anyway. I'd rather see new costumes and stages(that have stage fatalities) at this point.

Also, I'm only about halfway through beating the ladder with everyone, but so far my favorite character to use is the same as my favorite in trilogy, Sindel.

challenge 300 is fuckin rediculous. actually managed to make the sub bosses somewhat difficult, usually i can flawledd goro but his "armor" is even more resistant. same holds for kintaro which is a pain cause he`s so grab happy. and then melina hits and eats up most/all of my health thanks to the random no block stip so if i do make it kahn its just me praying my spam technique holds...which it hasnt. pretty sure striker or lui kang will lead me to victory...might be able to spam kung loas teleport grab but ive had little success so far. same with teleport stomp spamming from sheeva. managed to make it to melina with spamming teleport stomp but after that i was thrashed.

the bosses in this game are rediculously easy. usually i can double flawless shoakahn as long as i can get away from him at the begginging of round 1. Goro and Kintaro are crazy easy too. just jump uppercut. but this challenge 300 actually amps their difficulty.

true as it is it doesnt hold up in practice. you cant just sit and wait for him to throw his spear. you have to keep lobbing to keep him at bay. so eventually the pattern is going to cause you to get hit as some point. which would be a big deal if i had a full health bar, but i never do. couple that with switching between being weakend and having block disabled and them gaining health or being over powered and it makes for a pretty heafty challenge.

i think striker is going to be key here. his ability to roll throw under the hammer/spear makes him the perfect shoa kahn killer but im not as good with him against melina as i should be. need to go learn a 10 hit combo with him...melina + no blocking = crazy hard btw.

Finished Story mode on Hard. It definately sets up a sequel.

1st multiplayer and balance patch for the game is going to address the problems Xbox 360 users have been getting with the 1v1 and King of the Hill modes for both offline and online play.

PS3 users will be getting the same patch even though the studio doesn't have much playing info from them due to PSN being down.

I will agree with GB that this game has the best story of any fighting game I've ever played. Forcing players to play different characters throughout the storyline is an awesome way to get people to experiment with characters they probably wouldn't have played with otherwise.

I don't much like having to go through the Krypt again, though once I beat the Challenge Tower I should have enough to get everything. Pretty sure I eventually just looked up all the unlockables on GameFAQs for Armageddon; might do that again if I get tired of all the useless unlockable art.

Love it. Only did 3 chapters last night and I think it's paced very well with 4 fights per chapter. Story seems really cool. I also love the simple combos. Will continue on tonight.

Warner Bros temporarily drops the Online Pass requirement for PS3 users due to people having trouble activating the pass.

Fortunately, Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios have heard your cries. The companies announced on Facebook that the Kombat Pass is being temporarily waived.

"Due to the recent PSN outage," reads the statement, at nearly celebratory likes, "Mortal Kombat for PS3 will now be playable online without need for the Kombat Pass. This is a temporary solution that will only be available while Playstation Store is unavailable. Once PlayStation Store is back up, users will be able to enter the Kombat Pass code included with Mortal Kombat or purchase a Kombat Pass for $9.99."
