Knicks hurt themselves by not doing anything and leaking out Plan B/C/D/E once they started to doubt in getting Lebron or Wade/Bosh. Also didn't help how sudden Heat and Chicago gained cap space and could match the Knicks in a bidding war.
Miami and Chicago getting that cap space really killed them. The one thing they had going into the offseason was they could sign two max guys. Really, it wouldn't be surprising if these three guys knew all along they were going to Miami. Apparently they talked about doing this since a couple years back. Not sure if NY ever had a chance if these 3 guys had an idea of this all along.

How can you dub a team a dynasty 30 minutes after they sign a player? You have to win 3 world titles minimum to be considered a dynasty, and they haven't even taken the court yet. Slow it down. Michael Wilbon comes out and predicts 3 titles in 4 years and everyones ready to put it in the record books. Classic shit.

Whats even more amazing is Florida traditionally isn't a pro sports hotbed in terms of support so once the new Big 3 leave or start to stink, the fans won't show up at games like usual (ex. Marlins, TB Rays, TB Bucs, Lightning, MLS Fusion).
Only pro team that has kept support was Miami Dolphins and they had to compete with the better popular Florida college football teams.

It has a very good chance at working like they wanted it to work and they have an extremely good chance at AT LEAST the playoffs. Nobody is guaranteeing victory or anything. If they can learn to work together cohesively, they have a HELL of a shot at not only one championship, but multiple championships. Nobody here (that I see) is saying that they're going to 100% steam roll over all their competition.

Also is it really that unreasonable to try and predict a team with the 3 of the top 15 players in the league can win multiple titles?

I think popular opinion was on a few teams:
Knicks = money
Bulls = quit and go to the rival since he proved he couldn't "punish" Chicago for Jordan era
Nets = same as Knicks
Clippers =, NBA would be drooling at an inter-city Lebron vs Kobe feud
Heat = proves he isn't the dominate player/#1 guy player and needs another star player (Lebron as the Pippen and not the Jordan of the Heat).
Cavs would have been he wants to get a title but also demand better help

I just get the idea that I've been rubbing you the wrong way with my opinions the past few days, so you singled me out. That's fine, but just say it. Don't act like I'm conveying any more emotion or being any more unreasonable than every last person in this thread.

I said I do not care about Lebron James in the sense that I don't think it's worthy of the long term milking and "look at me" fest.
That's why, 2 weeks ago when we were 2 weeks away for a decision, I said "I don't care." It's the same as saying "I don't want to hear about it (until there's something to hear)"
I care where he signs, as a sports fan, but that takes minutes to announce when it's decided.
I couldn't stand this whole ordeal, like everyone else. Obviously my distaste for it caused me to grow a strong opinion of it all. It became unavoidable and rubbed me the wrong way, like tons of others. So in that sense, yes I care.
It's possible to be disgusted by all of this, and have a strong opinion of it as a sports fan, without specifically caring about it initially, or without having a "dog in the fight."
My dog in the fight is the fact that I'm opinionated and follow sports, and that I dislike Lebron.
I supposed my "I could care less" attitude comes across as me literally not caring about anything, but it's more of me speaking out against it.

Earlier in the night, LeBron James announced his intention to sign with Miami, joining Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade with the Heat. And after that, they traded Michael Beasley to the Wolves (http://www.broiledsports.com/2010/07/to-make-room-for-miami-thrice-heat-ship.html) to free up cap space.

Because it's one of the most diluted in terms of talents. NBA has too many teams, and not a deep enough talent pool. It's why the first best team is so much better usually than the forth or fifth place team, and why it's so easy for people to predict who will make the playoffs and win what conference.

That is Wades team. He has won a title and an MVP in Miami.
James is the supposed best player in the league, but piggy backed onto someone else. True greats have THEIR team, they dont go somewhere else. It would be one thing if he went to another team and raised them to the top, like Shaq did with the Lakers (they were kind of shite in those feew years before he went there, and he signed and LA was SHAQs team until Kobe took it over later on).

Wade is apparently the reason it happened. He was the one pushing for all three to go to Miami. Wade is probably loving it. He already has his ring, and now he has two amazing sidekicks to help him win more.
In Team USA at the Olympics the MVP of the team was pretty much Wade. His FG percentage was amazing and his all-around performance was amazing. All that talent worked together including James, Bosh and Wade. I'm sure a coach like Riley can replicate that. Wade would be the MVP, Captain, etc of the team still. He already has a ring and now he has the help he needs which fortunately for him or in the form of his buddies.
Lebron is known to pass a lot so that would cater to Bosh and Wade's game. Wade's a scorer, a shooter, a driver and he needs more open shots. Bosh helps down low and is there for the close goal and can get the rebounds. So in the best case scenario even though all three may have lower numbers, Lebron has a better chance of getting triple doubles even if he has less points, Bosh can do his thing and all this makes it easier for Wade.
I don't know if this has been mentioned before but since Michael Jordan's number is retired in Miami lol that would mean Lebron has to choose a different number than 23.
He had planned to change his number to 6 this year regardless.
Oh wait, that was his Team USA number.

I never understood the whole thought process of absorbing another team's salary dump when everyone knows Heat did it to gain space since they have no bench while T'Wolves gained absolutely nothing but less cap space in the end. Even if its just a 1 year deal, that's 1 season of less money possible to build or develop a team.
Even weirder when its done in the same conference or division since all your doing is making a rival or contender stronger while doing nothing for yourself (ex. Grizzles).

"
“I was surprised,” Orlando general manager Otis Smith told The Associated Press. “I thought he was, I guess, more of a competitor … The great ones do and usually stay in one location. This is a new era. It’s a little different than my time.”
Yes it is. We’ve never seen anything like this before. In this era, the players are all friends, and this summer, they and their people ran the league. Not only did we learn LeBron is not who we thought he was, but we learned that he and his superfriends toyed with the rules, with the game, with teams and with the media. They commandeered and co-opted ESPN, and changed the NBA’s traditional rules of engagement. "

Getting on the guy because he didn't take the hardest road to a ring seems a little silly.
And taking the backseat to Wade doesn't sound like something somebody completely consumed with their own ego would do. It's inconsistent with the overall claim. Let's at least be honest about it all. Broadcasting on ESPN for an hour seems pretty arrogant... but the way he came off on TV didn't seem like that, and the way that he's going onto a star studded team doesn't seem like that either. Call apples apples and oranges oranges here.

I would argue the fact the decision came in the 1st 15-20 minutes meant the whole show switched focused to Lebron gushing about being in Miami and becoming a "team" player while at the same time insulting Cleveland after years of demanding players to boost the team and his stats.
Crowd was basically dead/cold after the announcement since they must have been pro-Knicks (location) or pro-Cavs and had no clue on how to react without it coming off bad on tv.

Derek Fisher meeting with Pat Riley set for Saturday about potentially being on the Heat.

If he leaves, its assumed Steve Blake takes his spot in the starting lineup for the Lakers.

Alright, Derek Fisher is where I draw the line.
Word in LA was that he was supposed to resign with the Lakers sometime this week.

There's no way the Heat will offer more than the $2.5 mil the Lakers offered.

They are going to auction off the Sharpie's Wade, Bosh and James just signed their ceremonial contracts with.

Its Pat Riley, I wouldn't be surprised if Fisher takes the offer since Riley managed to sign 3 top tier/max contract players without using max contract deals. The Knicks and Bulls wished they had thought of what he did first so they could have gotten all 3 easily.

That Heat press conference just made them even more hated then before. Seriously, LeBron guaranteeing more than 7 championships when he hasn't touched one before? Amazing how quick his attitude changed from yesterdays sob story one hour special. Also interesting how Bosh talked about how it was basically the plan for months now.
Pretty hilarious how the person that could probably come out looking the best in this is Kobe. He beats the "Three Kings" next year and he is gonna be loved by everybody.
I hope Kobe kicks the living shit out of the Heat

I agree 100%. I would never want help a team out. Unless I was getting something really big in return.
on the flip side...
You could say that's steal for Beasley if it turns out to be really good. Big if though
Exactly. Beasley could potentially still end up being a really good player, basically got him for nothing
