CINCINNATI, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Actor Daniel von Bargen is hospitalized in critical condition after shooting himself in the head at his home in Cincinnati, TMZ reported.

Von Bargen, 61, played recurring roles on the TV sitcoms "Malcolm in the Middle" and "Seinfeld," and appeared in the films "Clive Barker's Lord of Illusions," "RoboCop 3," "Basic Instinct," "Broken Arrow," "Philadelphia," "The Silence of the Lambs," "The Postman," "A Civil Action," "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and "Super Troopers."

TMZ said von Bargen shot himself in the temple Monday, then called 911.

"I've shot myself in the head ... and I need help," the celebrity news Web site quoted von Bargen as telling the 911 operator.

Asked if it was an accident, TMZ said the actor replied: "I was supposed to go to the hospital and I didn't want to. ... They were supposed to amputate at least a few toes."

There was no word on the state of von Bargen's health before the apparent suicide attempt.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie Micheal Bay is making will involve the turtles being aliens who arrive on Earth instead of their origins being turtles who mutated.

"When you see this movie, kids are going to believe, one day, that these turtles actually do exist when we are done with this movie. These turtles are from an alien race and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable."

"Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world."

According to others, Bay isn't working with the actual creator of the series but instead the creator of the live-action movies from the late 80s to early 90s.

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Jim Carrey (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/entertainment/movies/jim-carrey-PECLB000871.topic) and Jeff Daniels (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/entertainment/jeff-daniels-PECLB001270.topic) are doubling down on dumbing down at the movies. At least, according to Peter Farrelly (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/entertainment/peter-farrelly-PECLB001640.topic) they are.

"Dumb and Dumber" co-writer and co-director Farrelly confirmed that Carrey and Daniels have signed on to reprise their roles as laugh-inducing nitwits Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne in a sequel to the 1994 comedy.

Farrelly made the reveal during Sunday's junket for the Farrelly Brothers' upcoming comedy "The Three Stooges (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/entertainment/movies/the-three-stooges-PECLB0000014592.topic)," according to ComingSoon.net.

"We're getting set to shoot 'Dumb and Dumber 2' in September," Farrelly said. "It's the first sequel we've ever done and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back."

The 1994 film chronicled a cross-country trek by well-intentioned but profoundly stupid pals Lloyd and Harry.

The movie spawned a 2003 prequel of sorts, "Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd," starring Derek Richardson (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/entertainment/derek-richardson-PECLB0000006173.topic) and Eric Christian Olsen (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/entertainment/eric-christian-olsen-PECLB0000006352.topic) as Harry and Lloyd, respectively.

Farrelly was quick to disavow the 2003 version during the "Three Stooges" junket. He added that Daniels and Carrey were both eager to do the sequel, but the latter was hampered by schedule conflicts.

"We did not do 'Dumb and Dumberer,'" Farrelly emphasized.

"That was a studio thing. So we've always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, 'We've got to do this thing again.' He had just watched 'Dumb and Dumber' and he said, 'This is the perfect sequel. Let's do it.'

I think they should have just left it alone..but it'll have to be better than the 03 sequel which was just awful aside from Bob Saget.

Some "more official" sites are starting to pick up the story, just have a bit of doubt given how much you Yanks like to run your sitcoms past their sell by dates and there's surely still a bit of life left in 30 Rock and especially Parks and Red (naturally the best of the 3 has been on the bubble since it started and isn't much of a surprise)

interesting stuff here about Christian Bale

Christian Bale Biography: 'Batman' Star Was Almost In 'Titanic' & 13 Other Revelations From Harrison Cheung's Book

http://i.huffpost.com/gen/626754/thumbs/s-CHRISTIAN-BALE-BIOGRAPHY-large.jpg

A new picture of Christian Bale emerges in a just-released biography by his former publicist and assistant, Harrison Cheung. Christian Bale: The Inside Story of the Darkest Batman, published May 29 on BenBella, reveals an actor who fought desperately to emerge from the world of independent British cinema into a complex, often incorrigible but above-all, ambitious global superstar.

Bale, who recently told GQ Australia he once took Drew Barrymore out on a date (though she "never called again"), is often seen as a gifted and dedicated actor who struggles with his temper (there is, of course, the unfortunate recording of Bale blasting a cinematographer on set).

HuffPost Entertainment read the book and found the following 14 details to be of particular interest. Some of these tidbits were previously covered in the media, but others -- like which of his characters he most identifies with -- appear to be new information. Before reading, consider one important note: Cheung once worked for the "Dark Knight Rises" star and no longer does. The following items are all taken from a book that is written from the former publicist's point of view. Cheung writes in the book that he was never actually paid for his years of service, so their relationship was certainly not uncomplicated.

We've reached out to Bale's representative for comment and will update the post as soon as we receive word.

1. Edward Norton, Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt all passed on the role of Patrick Bateman in "American Psycho." Though there was a great deal of negative buzz surrounding the picture (which changed directors as well), Bale felt the film could help him break into America. "I don't want to be a movie star," Bale told Cheung. "I want to be an actor. All this talk of career suicide ... I rather like that I'm running contrary to what everyone expects."

But Leonardo DiCaprio wanted the role. Lionsgate issued a press release during Cannes in 1998, announcing that Bale had been replaced. Bale was livid: "Losing this role is like having a pencil shoved through my brain." The studio offered him a supporting role, but Bale refused to consider that. DiCaprio eventually bailed after Gloria Steinem urged him not to take the role, which she said could inspire copycat murders from within his teen fan base.

The role then went to Ewan McGregor, who had just been screwed out of his lead part in "The Beach" by the newly landed DiCaprio. Bale begged McGregor not to take it, and the latter passed.

2. On the set of "American Psycho," Bale was required to appear nude multiple times. He used a "cock sock" (Cheung says it's an "industry term"), a "fleshtone spandex pouch" which covered his genitalia. Co-star Guinever Turner mocked the size of Bale's sock, which led Bale to exclaim, "Goddam her!"

3. Bale would call up family and friends in the character of Patrick Bateman, greeting associates with "It'sssssssss Patrick!"

4. DiCaprio proved to be Bale's biggest rival. Movies the latter lost to the fresh-faced Leonardo: "This Boy's Life," "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" "Romeo & Juliet," "Titanic," "The Beach."

5. He turned down the role of James Bond. After "American Pyscho," Bond producer Barbara Broccoli met with Bale and "intimated that the role of 007 would be Christian's for the taking" after Pierce Brosnan's contract expired. Bale resented the character for representing "every despicable stereotype about England and British actors." He told Broccoli that he had "already played a serial killer."

6. He was up for the part of Jake in "Training Day," but was told he looked to old to play the rookie cop. The role would eventually go to Ethan Hawke, who won his first Oscar nomination for the part.

7. Bale once paid Cheung with a computer, and the following note: "Enjoy the computer. Sorry I've not been able to pay you anything for all of your work, but I hope the computer can suffice until a time not too far in the future when we'll form a huge corporation, take over the world and sell out! Love, Christian"

8. Bale once admitted that, of all his roles, he identified most with Patrick Bateman.

9. He had an especially fraught relationship with his fans. When a fan letter reached his Manhattan Beach home, he sent a fax to Cheung that said the fan should be "eliminated." "Better to be safe than sorry," he wrote. "A screwdriver thrust thru the eyeball into the brain prevents any screaming. Let me know how it goes." When fans would approach him in public, Bale would "lecture little girls about being rude and intrusive until tears streamed down their faces, and their parents tugged them away from our table."

10. Steven Spielberg asked Bale to do a cameo in "Schindler's List." Bale refused.

11. Bale's infamous crash diet for "The Machinist," which led him to lose 65 pounds, consisted of water, an apple and one cup of coffee per day, with the occasional whiskey. Eventually, it cost him his social life. "In the end, I had to stop going out. I realized that wasn't going to work. I'd do a bit of eating hardly anything and losing 51 pounds and then I'd put on 7 pounds bingeing one night because I'd have a couple of drinks. So I decided no more social life, no more friends, no more dinners, no more drinks."

12. "It only took me five years of therapy to get past my Bale years," Cheung writes. "My therapist would describe my condition as post-traumatic stress disorder." Bale demanded Cheung sign a non-disclosure agreement before paying him, which Cheung refused to do.

13. "Batman Begins" was a passion project for Bale, and one that he dedicated to the memory of his father. This despite the fact that his relationships with his parents were deeply complicated (Bale's father tried to stop his son's involvement with "American Psycho," for example).

14. Bale did not attend "Dark Knight" co-star Heath Ledger's funeral.

"Halloween" actor Richard Lynch dies aged 76

http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02254/Richard-Lynch_2254633b.jpghttp://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jCtQBPsvASY/TGAxn-t3-TI/AAAAAAAADbI/Whs2AA3c9_A/s400/RLynch_000.jpg

(Reuters) - "Halloween" actor Richard Lynch, who became a staple in horror and science-fiction movies with his scarred facial features, has died at age 76, his spokesman said on Wednesday.

Lynch's representative, Mike Baronas, told Reuters that Lynch's body was discovered by one of the actor's friends, who had stopped by Lynch's house in Palm Springs, California, after not hearing from him in days. She found the door open and Lynch lying on the kitchen floor, "cold and lifeless."

Baronas said no investigation is being held into the death of the actor and his body was sent directly to a funeral home.

Lynch, who was born in New York City in 1936, made his name playing villainous characters in movies such as 1973's "Scarecrow," 1988's "Little Nikita" and 2007's installment of the "Halloween" horror franchise, directed by Rob Zombie.

Lynch also appeared in numerous television series in his five-decade career, most notably the sci-fi series "Battlestar Galactica" and "Galactica 1980."

Lynch's face was permanently scarred in 1967 when he took the drug LSD and set himself on fire, something he spoke openly about in the documentary film "LSD: The Trip to Where?"

Zombie paid his respects to Lynch on his Facebook page on Wednesday, saying "Richard was great to work with and really gave it his all. I will never forget the way he scared ... the kid actors in 'Halloween.'"

Lynch's last role was in Zombie's upcoming film "The Lords of Salem," which is due to be released later this year.

Bret Easton Ellis Says Casting Matt Bomer As Christian Grey Would Be Ludicrous Because He’s Gay

http://cdn04.cdn.socialitelife.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/08/matt-bomer-shirtless-400x470.jpg

WTF Ellis? Seriously? Supposedly because Matt Bomer is gay, there is no way on earth that he could play the role of Christian Grey.

Bret Easton Ellis, who tried to make it quite clear that he wasn’t discriminating, went on a Twitter rant saying that Matt Bomer “isn’t right for Christian Grey because he is openly gay.” The tweets didn’t end there, however, as he continued his venting spree stating, “Fifty Shades of Grey demands an actor that is genuinely into women. Get it?!?”

Here are the tweets that started off the firestorm.

“Okay. Let’s finalize this. Matt Bomer is totally hot and a very good actor. He is NOT right for Christian Grey and it complicates the role,” Ellis tweeted. “I don’t care how good an actor you are but being married to another man complicates things for playing CG…Matt Bomer is NOT about discrimination. It’s about an intensely straight actor wanting absolutely to screw Ana Steele…the most popular book on the planet having Matt Bomer–a gay actor–play Christian Grey is absolutely ludicrous. Why?”

Bret tweeted at the weekend: “Fifty Shades of Grey: Casting Matt Bomer is the equivalent as casting Jesse Tyler Ferguson…” Ferguson is a gay actor who plays a gay character on Modern Family.

The writer revealed a few days later: “It’s a very major disappointment to announce that I’ve somehow been taken off the list of possible screenwriters for Fifty Shades of Grey… @E_L_James I hope you find someone as passionate as I was about Fifty Shades of Grey. I will miss it.”

All we can say is that we’re very happy that Bret Easton Ellis will not writing the screenplay or directing Fifty Shades Of Grey.

Check out the series of tweets below…

“Okay. Let’s finalise this. Matt Bomer is totally hot and a very good actor. He is NOT right for Christian Grey and it complicates the role,” Bret said on Twitter.

“Fifty Shades of Grey: Matt Bomer: I don’t care how good an actor you are but being married to another man complicates things for playing CG.

“Fifty Shades of Grey: Matt Bomer is NOT about discrimination. It’s about an intensely straight actor wanting absolutely to screw Ana Steele.”

He continued: “Fifty Shades of Grey: the most popular book on the planet having Matt Bomer–a gay actor–play Christian Grey is absolutely ludicrous. Why?

“Jesus, the homophobia over Matt Bomer not being Christian Grey is so unsettling and aesthetically retarded. He’s NOT right for Christian G.

“Okay I’ll say it. Matt Bomer isn’t right for Christian Grey because he is openly gay. He’s great for other roles but this is too big a game.”

Bret added: “And I think if Matt Bomer wants the role which I doubt the international press tour will be an embarrassing fiasco. He’s not CG. Never…

“I am NOT discriminating Matt Bomer because of his sexuality. Fifty Shades of Grey demands an actor that is genuinely into women. Get it?!?

“I actually think it’s cool that women want Matt Bomer as Christian Grey. It means that we’ve moved beyond stereotypes and that gay is hot…

“I think Matt Bomer is incredibly handsome and a good actor but I think he comes off totally gay in White Collar. And that is why no to CG…”

He concluded: “Look, all actors are GAY: they put on make up and pretend to be someone else. That’s just a fact. Rock and roll. Deal with it. Scientology?

“Would anyone watch Brokeback Mountain if it stayed true to the original story where both characters are hideously ugly? No. Homo beauty WIN?

“Hollywood is the most homophobic place in the entire world.”

Matt Bomer does a pretty good job of pretending to love vaginas in the USA Original Series "White Collar". I thought Bomer never was "openly gay" but rather saying that his personal life is private and none of the media's concern FYI: White Collar is my favorite show on television.

But seriously I think regardless of his skill he chooses bad projects to make a quick buck and in return hurt his marketability to larger market films and directors. Similar to tv actors breaking into film or child actors trying to surge a career as an adult.

Once people see you as something it's really hard to change people's minds.

I am less than 100 pages in, and completely enthralled by it. I would say it is a hard read due to the author's liberal use of the vernacular of the time period, but even though there is a cornucopia of words I've never seen before, the context in which they are used is such that you can always immediately understand what they mean.

Was gonna post a different clip from Sunday's ep. for people who didn't see it where Peter encounters Homer Simpson at the TV Producers’ Guild and tries to "fix" tv, and when Peter sees him come in, he says “A-ha! Looks like this is one WE beat YOU to!”, gloating that Family Guy did a run-of-the-mill “Oh, look! We just happened to get this mailing from the Nielsen TV ratings guys even though we’re a fictional TV family ourselves! Let’s ironically try to make tv “better” by watching smart shows and PBS! :D”

Although, for the record, if anyone doesn’t know by now, it's no big secret that I am and always will be a huge supporter of PBS, and fuck Romney if he wins and defunds it like he says he would.

I am beginning to not "get" Revolution. This week's episode confirmed that steam power apparently still works... and we know that chemical reactions still can produce energy (bombs).

Theoretically, if steam power works, wind power and solar power should work. I dunno.

As long as at least steam power works, though, I have a hard time believing that society would have degraded to such a degree. Would have just evolved and changed into some sort of weird Steampunk World.

Looks like no surprise Mario cameo will occur in Wreck-It-Ralph since the director felt he was too important to "waste" in just a cameo role but would show up in a large role if there ever was a sequel.

To add in some insult, Sonic was easily viewed as "cameo" material even though he's been the biggest rival in status to Mario.
http://www.destructoid.com/why-there-s-no-mario-cameo-in-wreck-it-ralph-237197.phtml

Although people have pointed out that Jumpman is in it but under a different mane and rumors of Nintendo asked for too much money for Mario & Luigi but had no issue with giving them Bowser to use.

Eh. I'm pretty content with the reimagined BSG as it is. After seeing some of the cast at Dragon*Con and listening to their experiences dealing with the story, script, and RDM's idea for the series, I think it was perfect for its time, and could only have been pulled off during the time in which it was done. The social commentary and weaving at-the-time-current events into the plot served not only as a great launching pad for a show, but also got people talking about things that were ACTUALLY RELEVANT in a way that could avoid fisticuffs. Hooray, allegory!

Now, tacking on another backstory element through a series seems arbitrary. When put up against the emotional depth of the reimagined series, would a full chronicle of the First Cylon War pull its weight, or just muddle up the canon? I mean, you'll have to throw Tigh in there for sure somewhere, right? Not to mention the others, if only to give a nod to the future events in BSG.

Maybe that's too much speculation, and I should just accept the webisodes/eventual telecast of the pilot for what it is, and enjoy another frakking foray into the canon. I just can't get excited about a prequel anymore. I wonder why?

Also, this is all before I've watched the first part.

Paramount will make a third G.I. Joe film, according to Variety. The decision the weekend G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the second film in the franchise, opened reflects the strong box office (see "'The Rock' Saves 'G.I. Joe'"). The film grossed over $130 million worldwide from when it opened Wednesday through Sunday.

One factor in the strong box office was 3-D ticket prices. The release of Retaliation was delayed for the 3-D conversion and it seems to have paid off. The three-quel will also be released in 3-D.

Microsoft currently tinkering with the idea of bringing the Heroes tv show back although it would be exclusive to Xbox services if it actually gets done.

Microsoft is in talks to bring back the NBC television series Heroes, likely as part of its slate of original programming under the Xbox brand, reports TVLine.

The revival of the sci-fi series would feature new characters and stories, and could bring in heroes from the show's original run, which lasted from 2006-2010 on NBC, in cameos, according to TVLine's sources.

This past February, Microsoft announced the formation of the Los Angeles-based Xbox Entertainment Studios, a new division built to create original programming and interactive content. Former CBS executive Nancy Tellem, who joined Microsoft last fall, heads up the studio.
