Anyone remember the Twilight Zone or Outer Limits episode about the US Army finding a dimensional window in the desert where they can see a family in a country setting? One of the scientist watches a girl through this window and falls in love with her so he decides to go through if the window ever opens. They use a device that shoots an ice cube against the dimensional window every few seconds and has someone who watches it.

Then you absolutely should, it is worth stealing from her and never speaking again because of it. I started from season 1 again maybe 7-8 days ago because I finally got the box set for what will be my 3rd time through and tonight I'll finish season 3. Should czech out Breaking Bad if you haven't already like WWKD and Lock Jaw mentioned, possibly the best show currently running on TV and a new season starts in the next few weeks.

Going to Kmart in a couple of hours...they've got the Blu Rays of Sin City, and both Kill Bills for $8 a piece which is just great. Also, Amazon has BTTF Blu Ray set for $24.99 though its back ordered up a ton.

Jamie Foxx Joins Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained

The Oscar winner will play the titular character, a freed slave who tries to rescue his long-lost love, Broomhilda, from a plantation owner, Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), with the help of a German bounty hunter, who will be played by Inglourious Basterds' Christoph Waltz. Fellow Tarantino alum Samuel L. Jackson also stars as Candie's slave, Stephen, while Kerry Washington, Foxx's Ray co-star, is in talks to play Broomhilda.

"I think, just to be able to work with Quentin Tarantino and Samuel Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio, and to be able to tell a story that needs to be told," Foxx told CNN, explaining why he took the role. "If you're a fan of, I mean, you know — it's just amazing. It should be [an] amazing [thing]."

Tarantino originally offered the lead role to Will Smith, who turned it down. He then met with Idris Elba, Terrence Howard and Chris Tucker before casting Foxx, according to Variety.

Django Unchained is scheduled to hit theaters Christmas Day 2012.

Friday Night Lights star Adrianne Palicki, whose Wonder Woman pilot was rejected by NBC, is joining the cast of G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes. Palicki will play Lady Jaye, a Bryn Mawr educated covert operations specialist. She joins a cast with a number of returnees from the 2009 G.I. A need to say first of all that I have not finished this book, and probably never will.

I love Lost and really wanted to read a book to explain the things that I missed when watching it. This book didn't appear to be it instead concentrating on what were to me, unknown Greek Mythology and the like. This would have been fine if the book concentrated on Lost and dipped into these philosophies but it didn't.

Things may improve later on in the book but I fear I'll never know.

In spite of the fact that star Johnny Depp, director Gore Verbinski, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have made billions for Disney with their Pirates of the Caribbean films (3 out of the 4 Disney movies that have earned over a billion dollars were Pirates movies), the Mouse House has abruptly shut down production on the trio’s attempt to revive The Lone Ranger franchise. Casting was well-advanced on the Depp/Verbinski Lone Ranger movie (see “Ruth Wilson Joins The Lone Ranger”), which was set to start shooting in October, but the filmmakers were resisting the studio’s attempts to bring the budget down from $250 million to $200 million, so Disney pulled the plug even though the studio risks alienating Depp and thus putting another Pirates movie, which the studio really wants, in jeopardy.

Every big success in Hollywood breeds imitations—after the Twilight movie was a hit every studio was looking for YA romance bestsellers with supernatural elements. But conspicuous failures can also have a major effect in Tinseltown. The disappointing debut of Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens has contemporary studio moguls running scared from any project with even the faintest whiff of oats. According to The Hollywood Reporter one inside source explained about the studio's pulling the plug on The Lone Ranger, “The fact that it’s a Western is a definite concern.”

Of course there is a possibility that The Lone Ranger project could be resurrected, if not at Disney at another studio, but that is not very likely in today’s increasingly uncertain economic times with box office revenues down and DVD revenues sinking like a stone. Disney has a number of risky big dollar projects in production already. Andrew Stanton’s John Carter looks like it will end up costing between $250 and $300 million and Sam Raimi’s The Great and Powerful Oz has a budget in the $200 million range. Universal recently pulled the plug on Guillermo Del Toro’s At the Mountains of Madness even though Tom Cruise was attached, and then turned around and axed Ron Howard’s ultra-ambitious three film, two TV series adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower (see “Universal Abandons the Dark Tower”).

The Lone Ranger was slated to debut on December 21st, 2012, the same day that the Brad Pitt-starring zombie epic World War Z opened and just seven days after Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey bowed. Even if The Lone Ranger project is revived, at least there is no way it could debut during that particular highly competitive holiday season. It’s hard to imagine that the thought of having their expensive oater going up against a fantasy powerhouse and a zombie epic didn’t figure in Disney’s decision to torpedo The Lone Ranger.


Hmmm... I would think that a Lone Ranger movie would have more in common with True Grit (which I think did pretty good at the box office) than Cowboys vs. Aliens.

'The Simpsons' Next Season Will Be Its Last

Whether the stars take a salary cut or not, there won't be many more new adventures in the town of Springfield.

Fox executives told The Wrap on Wednesday that even if the voice actors behind the iconic animated show "The Simpsons" take a massive pay cut, the show is no longer profitable as a first-run series and will end after next season. If the actors don't agree to a cut, this season, the show's 23rd, will be its final batch of new episodes.

The Daily Beast reported Monday that the actors were facing a 45% cut from their $440,000 per episode salary, which would take them down from $8 million to just over $4 million; they countered with an offer of a 30% cut but with a small slice of the show's backend, which includes merchandise, syndication and DVD sales. The executive told The Wrap that any agreement would only be for one more season.

Producers for the show have already taken a pay cut to keep the show going. Fox released a statement about the show's tenuous financial situation on Monday.

23 seasons in, The Simpsons is as creatively vibrant as ever and beloved by millions around the world. We believe this brilliant series can and should continue, but we cannot produce future seasons under its current financial model. We are hopeful that we can reach an agreement with the voice cast that allows The Simpsons to go on entertaining audiences with original episodes for many years to come.
The stars re-upped their contracts in 2008, receiving significant raises; it was reported that they went from $360,000 to $500,000 an episode.

It seems that every movie is a remake of something that was better when it was first released in a foreign language, as a 1960s TV show, or even as a comic book. Now you've got theme park rides as the source material of movies. The only things left are breakfast cereal mascots. In our lifetime, we will see Johnny Depp playing Captain Crunch.
