I love checking out the roster as much as the next guy. Fun entrances, music and PYRO!! Problem every year is that they really focus on the roster reveal and not much else. Sweet, Kalisto and Eva Marie are in.....now what about the replay factor that they're missing every year? Will WM feel like the "Showcase of the Immortals" or will it be another house show but with titles up for grabs? Will Universe be fun and streamlined with some secret or character specific stories and decisions or will it be match after match of the same thing just with a different stipulation every week?

So far I don't see anything to get excited about since it seems they're on track to do the same thing they've done the last 3-4 years: Tweak the gameplay slightly, switch out one Showcase for another and....that's about it.

The entrances are hilarious in their own right. Not even the live crowd looks at them and the fact that they still use camera cuts because they can't work out how to make a model walk from out of the actual opening since WWE changed to the generic set is hilarious.

Heh. As long as we still get new models - which we do, I don't have a problem with this. Sooner they keep people in and add a few more than remove a bunch and a few a few new faces. Sort of a "more the merrier" type deal. I'm never gonna play as Adnan but it's sort of a bonus to have him there.

I don't get why they make such a big deal over the roster and the revealing of it. There's nothing spectacular about it. You know who you're going to get. It's pretty much always the same.

Cena, Orton, Lesnar, Rollins, Triple H, Reigns, Taker, Ambrose and so on. They're all going to be in it, because a game without them would be stupid. So what this whole roster reveal thing is really about, is the old wrestlers and maybe a few current jobbers.

Will Ryder be in the game? Or will he be left out so Swagger can be in the game? Or maybe Slater?

Which wrestlers from Austin's time will be in it? NOD Rock? Marc Mero? D'lo Brown? Rikishi? Faarooq?

That's all it's really about.

Gameplay was shown on the Balor/Rollins video. Basically, watch any video of 2k15 and add a couple of meters for new minigames and you have 2k16 gameplay.

@drave, re: DDP -- Yeah...I've taken shits that look more realistic than his laughable 2K15 DLC model. Maybe this year we'll get "inspirational"/"motivational" DDP c.2002. I loved all his schtick with Christian, especially the segment where they're both in the locker room and Christian mocks DDP's smile, and then some kid comes in and calls Christian ugly, LOL.

I enjoy the paint tool, but due to my lack of any real skill creating actual wrestlers, haven't used it that much over the years. I like how '09 allowed you to be able to mix and match certain clothing and physical features between divas and superstars, and wish they'd bring that aspect back.

I dabble in the CAW e-federations. For the most part they are real nice. They things they create are some of the most creative things I've ever seen. This one guy has CAW whose attire looks like a collage of comic books. That type of creativity needs to be coupled with a powerful tool to create.

Do agree that the series itself has serious problems when it comes to consistency with features or expanding things. Even the idea of something as basic as "ref counting to 2" for pins was touted as something big for WWE 2k14 because of how badly it was botched in WWE 13.

Never really understood the need really. Especially since the hardest difficulty on 2k15 actually presented somewhat of a challenge.

Some of the things that stood out right away were the entrance run-in/break out. We did a Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens match, and while Balor was doing his entrance player two had the option to run in and attack. So Owens came out while Balor was on the entrance ramp starting off his entrance. It turned into a brawl from there and Balor kept on his demon entrance gear for the entire battle. Due to the nature of this event with loud music playing, we were unable to hear the referee telling us to get to the ring. So we had a jarring cutscene where Owens/Balor were at the ring and the ref was throwing out the match. I asked Little about this, and he explained that the ref is asking you to get the ring during the brawl. This goes both ways as well, so if you have already entered and player two is now doing his entrance, you can do a break out of the ring and attack him as well. This only happens in player vs. player matches -- and presumably Universe Mode. Little stated that this would not happen in one vs. one exhibition matches against the AI as the team wanted people to just have fun and not have random run-ins ruin the experience.

The chain grapple system is still in the game but is much refined. Heels act as heels now as I saw a few chain grapples where the heel pushed the face back to the corner and the ref got between the wrestlers. The heel then had the option to press a button and get a cheap punch in if he chose. And this is one thing that Little explained we would see throughout the game more, heels and faces would act as they should with personalities. Heels will try to cheat, even grab weapons in a normal match and risk a DQ; they will roll out of the ring instead of trying to fight; and they will do other “heelish” things throughout a match.

The reversal window is also better, and reversals feel more like a WWE match now. There are normal, minor and major reversals as well which will allow them to be chained together. However, once you get to a major reversal, the chain ends with no more reversal attempts able to be attempted.

The pin meter has been changed. It now sort of looks like the old Tiger Woods three-click swing box instead of just one spot to click. It basically works the same, but it takes up less real estate on the screen as well as feeling smoother. I obviously have not tried it online, but last year the big complaint online was the pin meter. I’m thinking with the new meter, it will be less of an issue. The meter also resets on every count -- and after a finisher the game did not start the meter until the two count.

One thing I could not figure out was the submission system. It feels a lot like the old UFC systems (from the old THQ games not the new EA one). Both wrestlers have a block on a circle, and you are moving them around to lock in and get the submission victory. I tried it several times and never could truly grasp how it worked. But to be fair, it was a very loud area where I was trying to play the game and could not focus on it as much as I could in say my home. I do think it will need more explanation going forward -- and maybe a quick tutorial in the game -- just to make sure everyone understands the new system as it’s a big departure from just hammering a button over and over again. That being said, even without understanding it fully, I welcome the change.

Some other tidbits I learned from talking to Mark Little:

-There are new OMG moments, but he wouldn’t spill the beans on what they are yet.

-Tag matches have been improved. The partners will actually get a bonus for staying in their corners when they should be to help the tag match feel more like they should.

-Managers have been improved, so like the wrestlers they have their own personalities now.

-There are new tag entrances. Cesaro/Kidd and the Lucaha Dragons both had their entrances.

-As of now, Seth Rollins still has the Curb Stomp as a finisher.

Steve Austin was revealed as the Showcase (story mode of the game), and it covers his career from WCW to ECW to WWF/E. The opening video was impressive (we could not hear it though), showing some major happenings in Austin’s career like the Hollywood Blondes with Brian Pillman and the strap match with Savio Vega. I don’t know if that confirms these wrestlers in the game, but it did make me assume they are in the final product.

I got to play one match of the mode, it obviously was in the WWF portion of his career as it was the King of the Ring finals match against Jake “The Snake” Roberts (also confirming him in the game). A very cool touch was that Jake came out clutching his side (he had his snake and all), and we got a look back from earlier tonight showing Vader crushing Jake in the corner causing the injury. It was a real motion video and really wowed me when it happened. The screen grain was also present as it was in former games to add to the authenticity.

I asked but was shot down on questions I know everyone reading this are going to have. This includes: online improvements, Universe improvements, creation suite improvements, and My Career improvements. All of these and others will be revealed at a later date.

WCW/ECW confirmed in Austins showcase and that has to as good as confirms Pillman & Savio Vega.

You can also add texture to clothing, like a metallic or gloss finish. Which is great because in the past no matter how accurate an attire was it would still look off without the right texture.

I mean if you include some of the bigger moments from Austin's runs with those companies you'd be looking at putting wrestlers like Bobby Eaton, Paul Roma, and Mikey Whipwreck into a game in 2015. It just...feels weird. Hell the idea of Savio Vega making it into a game in 2015 feels weird.

Could totally see all of that just being the opening video and then the first proper match of the mode is the KOTR 96 one that was shown. I assume Pillman will make the game but more for their interactions in 1997.</font>

I've seen people speculate that 2k were using February's NXT Takeover Rival as their basis for who to put in the game. I don't know if it's true, but so far all of the NXT reveals have matched up with people who were on that show and it's a fun thought, so screw it...let's put them all in:

Consider yourself fortunate. They're not as prominent as the most exaggerative of players would suggest but they are there...collision detection sometimes, clipping into out of things, and sometimes during "extreme rules" matches or whatever, if you drop a weapon outside a corner of the ring and you or an opponent get out on that side, sometimes the weapon(s) will randomly flip high into the air because of bad physics and/or geometry or whatever.

Also, it seems that a lot of the titles are not called by the right name by the ring announcer during entrances for matches with certain titles on the line.

Would be more excited about the mode if it led to Owen Hart and/or Kurt Angle being in the game. Martha is allowing WWE to do a Owen documentary and Angle could have had a separate deal with 2k much like Hogan did when with TNA. Feel like either man would have been announced way earlier, though.</font>

Feel like if they actually did something with Universe mode, they would have been touting it by now. Probably just going to get roster info (OMG GUYZ LOOK EL TORITO IZ IN!!) and a few gameplay vids (IMPROVED PSYCHICS AND MORE BALANCED GAMEPLAY!!!) and thats it until release. The one saving grace of Universe Mode in 2K15 is the ability to unlock new story elements in the story collection menu via playing "Rivalry Matches". Once unlocked, you can assign those stories to applicable rivalries.

Honestly, 2k is doing pretty damn good with the roster. Keeping (almost) everyone in from last year was a smart move. And including people like Haku, D'Lo, Kama, and Vader is awesome. I know people want updates to the gameplay, which I get, but I love making people, and more people mean more base outfits and more moves, which helps diversify characters.

Also Brian Pillman better be in this.

The first step to import was to save a blank slate then save that to a USB stick and use a program to open it.

I figure the same could be done to a custom logo, but save it as a gif or bmp file in the same program and upload the photo.

Considering the WWE is rumored to be repackaging them as a team, probably a good thing they didn't get included. Roster won't be instantly outdated for the current guys as a result like with past games.
