Would rather see ROH have a Pure Title than the TV Title, to be honest.

I really think they could bring the PURE title back while having the TV title. I like the TV title though, and think Jay Lethal did wonders with it. Could use the PURE title for young guys like Dijack, Dalton Castle, and Adam Page.

I honestly haven't seen much of the ROH TV Title, but just in principle I think it's too similar to the World Title. I think the Pure Title would at least represent something different and unique to the company. Plus, look at it's lineage -- AJ Styles defeating CM Punk in the finals to become the first champion, Jay Lethal, Samoa Joe, Daniel Bryan -- a lot of those guys mean something to fans flipping over now. You can have commentary credit it for helping to craft their success.
Give it a couple of weeks of highlight videos showcasing the best of what it meant, then have Tomohiro Ishii (as Television Champion) wrestle the winner of a Pure Rules Tournament. I'd suggest Kyle O'Reilly. Put O'Reilly over and have Ishii go back to the Japan while O'Reilly gets focus in a division playing to his strengths.

TNA also really need to get rid of the King of the Mountain Title. Fuck's sake, how many times has that title changed names and rules. Have the World Title, Women's Title, X-Division Title and Tag Titles.

Yeah, hate the King of the Mountian title. Really thought they were going to give it to Jarrett. Wouldn't be as ridiculous if it wasn't defended in regular matches. Just wish it would go back to the TV title. It's been the TNA Legends title. the TNA Global title, TNA TV title, and now the King of the Mountian title. Wouldn't mind if they just abandoned it and focused more on the X division.

You can blame Jay Lethal for that, really did great things with the TV title. Dude has had a championship around his waist for over 2 years now. I like the PURE rules but it being combined with the ROH World title I'm not sure they would bring it back.

They should really float more money into their wrestling ventures. Keeping TNA alive with a bit of re-branding might actually work out for them. A lot of talent in the world doesn't really fit the ROH vibe and style. I could see James Storm coming in as kind of an outlaw heel, but I'm not sure how they will explain Lashley not being A1 in that universe, you know?
Plus, Dave Bautista seems to have a few frustrations with the WWE at the moment. If they could convince him to work a few PPVs a year, they could draw some attention and make some moolah. Bautista vs. Goldberg -- groan at the match quality all you want, don't deny that it doesn't have that star power. Throw Angle vs. Mysterio lower on that card and you have a show people won't miss.

Not just because I'm slightly bias...... butt I really like Al Snow's "bitter grizzled vet" gimmick he's doing right now. A lot of throwbacks I know feel like that about the current product and I don't disagree.
Again personally, I've been a Pepper Parks fan for awhile now. I do like the idea of them dropping "the body" gimmick (considering they already have like 25 guys on the roster with that gimmick) and he's doing a "last ditch effort" gimmick of him making it in the wrestling business. Him being signed at 35 isn't "completely unheard of" (the guy is in amazing shape) but the idea behind his gimmick, it intrigues me

I saw a picture of Pepper Parks on their roster website. The guy looks like a thousand bucks. If TNA folded I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him form a team with Tye Dillinger. They both sort of have that journeyman story, both look great, and if Parks needs some more polish in the ring, Dillinger can certainly help with that.
Another potential ally for Parks in that vein is Damien Sandow. TNA are fools if they don't try and get him on board for something.

I like Parks to I think his new name is Braxton Sutton. I'd like to see him interfere in the EC3/Bennett match on Bennetts behalf. Think him and Bennett would make a good tag team and they already have his wife Allie(Cherry Bomb) working with Maria.
Dont see what TNA sees in Raquel, basically only using her because she was on Tough Enough. She's not ready for TV and looked lost at ringside. They have her playing a Guru for BroMans which makes plenty of sense considering shes never even wrestled a match.

Well, Raquel is coming off her "15 mins of fame" and kinda gives off a Sofía Vergara vibe, which probably would of been more useful like 5 years ago when Modern Family was the biggest show around but still.....
I will give her some credit, she did train at the Wild Samoan School after Tough Enough. So when you add it up, former Reality TV star, IBBF Pro, trained at a credible wrestling school (local to Florida).... I can see why they hired her.

Braxton can work, great body (said in the most hedro way possible ), and I would prefer to see him get a good singles run so he can feud with guys like EC3 and Bennett as opposed to teaming with them (TNA does need more main event level singles stars)

It think the perfect way to go with him would to team with Bennett for a bit maybe even win the Tag titles and eventually have him grow tired of Bennett and have him and Allie battle Bennett and Maria as TNAs power couple and then start his singles run. I feel TNA needs a lot more depth in the Tag division.

Hiroshi Tanahashi spoke with Sports Illustrated for a new interview. The highlights are below:
On his goals for 2016: “I hope to become Ring of Honor world champion. If I get the opportunity to become champion, then I’ll come back to the United States every month and wrestle. Soon, I will also challenge [IWGP heavyweight champion] Naito. Unlike Naito, I respect the IWGP championship belt. For now, I am focused on Kenny Omega.”
On facing Kenny Omega in New Japan’s first ladder match: “I’ve watched Shawn Michaels’ ladder match against Razor Ramon for inspiration. Now I fight against Omega in a ladder match in Osaka in a date for the Intercontinental title. Sometimes, Kenny Omega uses second and third members from Bullet Club. But this June, I’m going to beat all of Bullet Club. I wish I had Shawn Michaels in my corner.”
On his favorite wrestler: “When I became a wrestler, I watched Shawn Michaels every night I could. I love Shawn Michaels’s style. Someone once called me the “Japanese Shawn Michaels,” and I was proud to hear that. I’d be too nervous to wrestle him.”
On the status of his shoulder and how he thinks he will fare in the match: “Pro wrestling is a fight. Sometimes, it is entertainment but deeper than that, it is fighting. I have fought many times, many long matches. I have even been hurt by Kenny Omega. I may be hurt, but I’ll be OK–but I’m never tired.”

Was hoping they would do a King of the Mountain match considering it's the King of the Mountain Championship. Lethal has to survive Jey Briscoe first. Really not sure what they'll do at Best in the World but I'd like to see Lethal retain. If Tanahashi wins the IWGP it be cool to have Lethal vs Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom where the loser has to drop their title. I couldn't see NJPW wanting Lethal to look stronger than their ace so I couldn't see Lethal winning if the match was for both titles.

I think there's a lot of potential in him..... I just think he got brought in way too early and exposed before he was ready.
I did think he was much better as a heel as well. Again "if Macka was booking" I'd remove him from tv and send him to Al Snow's wrestling school for like 6 months and have him work on the "basics". Then, I'd find another guy his size or bigger from India or even the Middle East and make them a straight up MONSTER team. For three months straight, no bumps, maybe 3 or 4 minute matches a most, just udder dominance (throws, slams, just straight up viciousness). Then after building them up like that, give them a feud with whoever the tag champs are at that time.

Yea, he doesn't need to be Asian but I just think it would look unique to find another guy size from India or the Middle East to add another dynamic to the "monster team" formula. I see Lashley winning the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in the main event. Has to end by knockout or tap out so I hope they don't have Galloway knock him out at least.
I think Jeff wins and Matt turns face after the match and they team again. Hopefully Jeff doesn't break his leg again.
EC3 vs The Miracle is a tough one but I think Bennett wins with some sort of shenanigans. Braxton Sutter said he had plans for Slammiversary and I could see him getting involved in Bennett's behalf.
I expect Eli Drake to retain the King of the Mountian Championship against Bram. Could also see this being what Braxton Sutter was talking about and they find a few other guys and actually have a King of the Mountian match.
Hope the Tribunal beat Grado and Shera.
Gail beats Maria but get a beat down after by all of Maria's lackeys.
I'd like to see Decay beat The BroMans and retain the TNA Tag Team titles.
Don't think there is a X division announced yet. And I think Jade face Siena for the Knockoutsee title.

As far as the X-Division Title goes, I want Eddie Edwards to get a run as champion. Gregory Helms can split from Trevor Lee after the loss and start a feud with him. Get some stories going in that division.
I think Grado & Shera probably win their tag match. Shera is probably a large part of TNA's Indian deal, and it's possible that deal will keep them afloat in the future. I don't expect the Shera push to disappear anytime soon.
Lashley winning the World Title makes sense given that Bellator will want Lashley to be a draw for them, so ruining that against Galloway is pretty stupid. I'd make Jeff Hardy the first challenger to Lashley and have Galloway move down to work with either Bennett or Broken Matt.

ADAM COLE HOSPITALIZED FOR PNEUMONIA, WILL MISS EVENTS IN HOPKINS AND MILWAUKEE
Adam Cole has been hospitalized in Philadelphia for pneumonia and will be unable to appear at this weekend’s Road to Best in the World events in Hopkins, Minn., and Milwaukee, ROHWrestling.com has learned.
Cole had been scheduled to face Chris Sabin tonight in Hopkins and Colt Cabana tomorrow night in Milwaukee.

How good is Bobby Lashley these days? He's got a 4-0 Bellator record and a 14-2 overall MMA record. Do you think there's any chance of him going for their Heavyweight Title soon? I read it's vacant. It'd probably be a good business choice to put him over Drew Galloway at Slammiversary.

TNA Slammiversary results
-Borash welcomes us to TNA Slammiversary with the entire roster and crew on stage, and leads Orlando in a moment of silence for the victims of this morning’s mass shooting.
X-Division Championship Match
Trevor Lee (c) vs. Andrew Everett vs. Eddie Edwards vs. DJZ
JB announces that Gregory Shane Helms has been banned from ringside by TNA management. We get a partnership early on with Edwards and DJZ teaming up against Helms’ boys. Everett scores the first big move of the match with a springboard corkscrew moonsault over the ropes to take everyone out. The alliances continue for most of the match until Everett tries to pin DJZ and the champion isn’t happy about it. Edwards chops both of them down a few dozen times and almost wins it with a Blue Thunder Bomb. Several late game, chaotic false-finish sequences with some incredible moves by all four guys. Edwards scouts Trevor’s Fisherman’s Buster into a small package to steal it out of nowhere. Winner and NEW CHAMPION: Eddie Edwards.
-We head backstage where JB is with Ethan Carter III. He says Bennett is very good and he was the first person to beat him, but that was the catalyst he needed to become one of the very best professional wrestlers in the world. EC3 goes on a great rant about how Bennett isn’t a “god” but a false prophet, and how he’s coming down Mount Sinai with two fists, ten knuckles and some “old testament vengeance”.
Basile Baraka & Baron Dax vs. Grado & Mahabali Shera
Al Snow does his post-match promo thing, praising Donald Trump and wanting to make pro wrestling great again. The match is fairly back-and-forth, with a lot of double teaming on Grado and trying to keep Shera out of the action as much as possible. Grado has it won at the end, but Al Snow distracts the referee and The Tribunal drops Grado to pick up the win. Winners: Basile Baraka & Baron Dax.
-Gail Kim comes out for her match with Maria, who has a broken hand and cannot compete tonight. Billy Corgan brings out x-rays to prove that Maria’s injury is legitimate. Gail demands a match, so Corgan adds her to the Knockouts Championship match, which is apparently happening next.
Knockouts Championship Match
Jade (c) vs. Sienna vs. Gail Kim
Maria and Allie are watching on from the ramp. Lots of three-way moves and roll-ups until it breaks down to Gail and Jade both going after Sienna. Jade with a possible spot of the match, coming off a springboard into a beautiful tilt-a-whirl DDT, almost immediately followed by a top rope hurricanrana. Gail hits Eat Da Feet on Sienna but is pulled out of the ring by Allie, and goes right after Maria. Sienna is going to hit Jade with the title belt, but Marti Bell shows up out of nowhere and nails the champ with some kind of foreign object; Sienna picks up the pin. Winner and NEW CHAMPION: Sienna.
-James Storm comes to the ring dressed to compete, as JB wonders who he’s in action against tonight. Storm says that 14 years ago a man gave a bunch of kids an opportunity, and now he’s standing here a veteran in the wrestling business after all that time. He says in 14 years he wants to be sitting at home, hearing about how James Storm gave someone the same opportunity, so he will be facing Braxton Sutter tonight on PPV.
James Storm vs. Braxton Sutter
Basic stuff early on with Sutter trying to get in some offense on the veteran. He hits a nice release suplex into the bottom turnbuckle. He runs right into Closing Time, followed by the Last Call superkick and the Cowboy picks up the “W”. The two shake hands and drink beer after the match. Surprisingly, no one turns on anyone, and nothing bad happens at all. Winner: James Storm.
-Eli Drake with a backstage promo to hype the King of the Mountain title match.
King of the Mountain Championship Match
Eli Drake (c) vs. Bram
Drake almost flung himself off the ropes, botching on his entrance. Bram goes absolutely crazy on him as soon as the match starts, fighting up and down the ramp, ripping up the padded floor outside the ring, but Drake back body drops him onto the concrete. Bram barely makes it back into the ring after a (very) extended 10-count, and gets dropped with a running neckbreaker. Back and forth brawling heading into the end; Bram hits his second wind with a big DDT, but Drake rolls to the outside, gets rolled back in, but Drake was playing possum and hits Blunt Force Trauma for three. Winner and still champion: Eli Drake.
Mike Bennett vs. Ethan Carter III
Lots of “no we don’t” and “EC3” chants early on. Ethan is in control from the start until Bennett runs him into the turnbuckle and beats him down on the outside. From there the match is one-sided, slowing down the pace as Bennett drops EC3 with big power moves every time he builds a little momentum, including a DDT off the barricade, and a spinebuster. The Miracle with a cutter, but Carter no-sells it and hits a clotheslines to finally get back into the match. Flapjack into the One-Percenter, but Bennett kicks out at two. The brawl to the apron and EC3 hits the TK3 on the apron but might have hurt himself more with it in the process. Bennett catches him out of the air with a cutter (out of nowhere!) for two. Carter tries for a submission but Mike grabs a hold of the referee and low blows EC3, followed by a big piledriver…again, for two. Carter hits a trio of German suplexes and another One-Percenter, but the ref is distracted by a chair that Maria threw into the ring. He goes after Maria and the ref bails to eject her from ringside, but Bennett takes advantage with the Miracle in Progress onto a chair…for another two-count. EC3 with a second TK3 and a third One-Percenter for the pin. Winner: Ethan Carter III.
Full Metal Mayhem
Broken Matt vs. Brother Nero
Jeff attacks his brother with a trash can as he’s making his entrance. They brawl into the ring and Jeff hits a spear before they go back to the outside to find more toys. Matt sandwiches him into the rails with a ladder, Jeff flattens two trash cans across his back and nearly breaks an extra tall ladder against him. He sets his brother on a table on the floor and Jeff crashes through him with top rope splash for two. Jeff has a one-sided ladder that he extends from one side of the ring all the way to the other, perched between the ropes. Twist of Fate on top of the ladder, followed by another splash that breaks it (and them) in half – another two. Another Twist of Fate attempt but Matt escaped and turns his brother inside out with a lariat, followed by a wicket Side Effect on the apron. Matt goes back under the ring and pulls out… a keyboard? He sets it up between the ring and the barricade and Jeff goes crashing through it with a hard looking powerbomb for two-and-a-half. There’s a teased double table spot to the floor, but both guys end up falling off a ladder into the ropes instead. Jeff is back up first: another Twist of Fate followed by the Swanton for two. They fight to the floor and now it’s time for the double table spot it seems; Jeff puts him through one table with another TOF but apparently neither of these guys can be pinned. He sets up the second table, climbs back into the ring, and comes off the top rope with a Swanton through the table and…gets the pin. Winner: Jeff Hardy.
TNA Tag Team Championship Match
Abyss (c) & Crazzy Steve (c) vs. Robbie E & Jessie Godderz
Robbie ends up flying over the ropes to take out both members of Decay. Rosemary goes after Jessie Godderz, and he picks her up and throws her over the ropes into all three of them. Steve trips Jessie off a springboard and plants him on the apron, and thus starts Abyss slowing down the pace in their corner. After a few minutes Robbie makes the hot tag and the BroMans start their comeback. Rosemary accidentally blinds Abyss with the poison mist and he accidentally chokeslams his own partner. BroMans with their finisher on Steve and Jessie has him tapping out, but Abyss pulls the referee from the ring and hits him with the mist. Rosemary and Raquel go at it which is enough of a distraction for Steve to nail Robbie with the title belts for…. NOPE, Robbie kicks out. They hit Steve with their finisher again and lock in the Boston Crab, but Abyss takes them out, then chokeslams his partner into Godderz for the win. Great, great finish. Winners and still champions: Abyss & Crazzy Steve.
TNA Heavyweight Championship Match
Knock Out or Tap Out
Drew Galloway (c) vs. Bobby Lashley
Galloway on the attack right away, but Lashley comes right back and turns him out with a lariat. Early parts of the match are back and forth with a lot of mat based grappling and submissions. Galloway broke up an armbar attempt with a boot right to face, which actually opens up the challenger the hard way right above his eye. They fight up for a top rope spot, but Galloway drops him down on his face and follows up with a double ax handle, then the Claymore Kick. Another Claymore Kick, followed by another, but on the third attempt Lashley comes out of nowhere with a huge spear. A brawl takes them to the floor where Bobby gets thrown into the ring steps. The champ lifts the big man up and plants a Celtic Cross on top of the steps. He locks in a Sharpshooter on the steps, but for some reason the referee makes him break the hold because he’s in the ropes… and he listens and breaks the hold? Drew brings out a table (because we have no ref consistency, apparently) and puts Lashley on top of it, but ends up crashing and burning through it solo on a tope. Drew is back to his feet at a count of nine, busted open from the forehead. He comes off the top rope but Lashley catches him with an armbar and transitions into a crossface; Galloway somehow gets up and counters the hold into a Tombstone Piledriver. Both men down – Galloway up at a count of five, Lashley up at the last second. He side steps a Claymore Kick and puts the champ in a chokehold; Galloway passes out and the ref calls for the bell. Winner and NEW CHAMPION: Lashley

Personal favorite segment of the show, the whole Braxton Stutter/ Spud segment.
There was some random dude in the ring in blue, with cheetah print kneepads and a mask with frilly things hanging off.... Spud came out and sent Braxton's opponent away (thankfully) said he was the most decorated wrestler in TNA  They had a solid match and Spud attacked him post match to start a feud. I thought it was well done, Spud is really good (as both a heel and face) and the fans seem to be really getting behind Braxton (which is a pleasant surprise)

I think as far as "for a character" I think he's on the right track. You obviously can't debut as "aww fuck you, kick ass X1000" right off the bat. They seem to be building him up from taping to taping, and that is a smart way to do it (that's kinda what they did for Drew and EC3)

They've done a pretty good job building up talent since EC3 came in. Especially the guys that they really want to push. The talent are responding to the push as well and developing their characters. Really like Eli Drake to and they built him up pretty quick in my opinion but he in the right spot. Galloway has had a career resurgence since joining TNA and is taken serious. Think they were high on Bram before his suspension and he's fallen down the card a bit but I like him going up against Decay. If their high on Sutter like it seems they are I have no doubt they will give him every chance to succeed.

The dirty finish doesn't make it any less stupid. Bennett is not a good fit for the X-Division Title aesthetically at all. Destination X doesn't really count as a thing anymore, because TNA got so horrible it lost PPV. I like Al Snow's "wrestling roots" gimmick, it would of been cool if he had recruited O'Shea as his enforcer. Considering O'Shea been wrestling for a long time, he could be "bitter" that Grado and Shera are getting opportunities not him. Plus, he's a throwback style wrestler so it would kind of fit too.

True about waiting, Rockette doesnt have a Wikipedia page but his faction The Soul Touchas do and it list him as 6'4 215lbs. Would like to see the X Divison get back to where it used to be, a few guys that are bigger but can fly like Konley and Rockett would help the divison a lot. At least I hope a guy named Rockett would be a high flyer.

It fits with Bennett's character and it could end up putting Eddie Edwards over if he beats him. Couldn't see Eddie cashing in Option C though.
They could achieve putting Eddie over Bennett by putting Eddie over Bennett. Edwards had ready-made stuff to go in the X-Division with guys like Trevor Lee, Andrew Everett, Gregory Helms, Zema Ion, etc. Edwards vs. Lashley would be an intriguing match-up that at least has a face vs. heel dynamic. You can have Davey Richards sitting in the crowd cheering on his buddy. Lashley can murderize Eddie and maybe spit on the injured Davey just for some extra heat.

Something I didn't know until someone told me, Shera is only 25 years old..... I thought he was like 30. That actually does give me a little more hope for him. I still like the idea of an "Indian Monster team", I was informed at Khali has TWO students in India that are young and around 7 ft tall. Considering they have a working relationship with his school, it could be a possibility (both are former basketball players so they're tall and lean)

I think this was a really strong acquisition for TNA. I love Abyss, but he is getting up there in age (his body looked like it was really hurting him last night). Moose is the "new breed" of big man (not 450 lbs... but still imposing and can move like he's half his size) it wouldn't be bad to start grooming some new "monsters" for the future of TNA

Eddie didn't take option C and instead put the X Division title on the line with the Heavyweight title so the winner took both titles. None of this makes me want to watch TNA, which is what they desperately need to do right now. Eddie Edwards as X-Division Champion could have done that. I thought it was great for Eddie and he got to be in the main event with Lashley. It's kind of like Lethal holding the TV and World titles in ROH and I wasn't the biggest fan of him losing the TV title but they made it work. Davey Richards is close to being back so I'd say they want the Wolves back in the tag division that is pretty weak at the moment.

He's not had a whole lot of time on the mic in ROH as he was mostly with Prince Nana or Stoakly Hathaway. He has gotten better in the ring in the last year. His style is way different than Lashley as he's a lot more agile and tends to do more dives. Wouldn't call him A+ at either, a solid B- I'd say with potential to be A+.

He was going after the World Title both titles were on the line.
I know what DID happen, I'm just saying it shouldn't have happened. If they really wanted a Lashley vs. Eddie Edwards match, there are other ways to go about it:
1) Lashley is expecting Edwards to challenge for the World Title; Edwards declines. Lashley claims that Edwards is scared; Edwards says he wants to represent the X-Division. Lashley gets cocky and says he'll put the World Title on the line without Option C being invoked.
2) Edwards uses Option C. It's there for a reason. Eddie takes Bobby to the limit, but eventually loses. As a result, Edwards is no longer the X-Division Champion and has to re-contend.
Those are just off the top of my head.

I really like the thought of Moose as the X Divison Champion so I want to see Moose win it somehow, wouldn't necessarily need to be clean.
Mr. Nerfect
07-24-2016, 12:43 AM
You're allowed to like it, but objectively speaking it demolishes the division. The champion is going to have to be beaten to lose one of his belts, and that's always the problem with having a guy holding two at a time.

Is it just me.... or is it kinda "strange" to see well know indie talent being used in TNA? Guys like JT Dunn, Chuck Taylor, and last week David Starr are some of the bigger names on the indie scene in the north east, and they're kinda given alittle room in these matches to showcase what they can do. As opposed to RAW, where "guy with no chin" gets crushed by Strowman in 30 seconds.....

I heard they shot their "One Night Only X Division" show recently so I'd expect that's why those guys were there (along with Konely and the Rocket guy who haven't debuted yet)
I could see Dunn and Starr in TNA, Juicy Product is a pretty well known team on the Indies and would be a good addition to the tag team division. TNA needs more tag teams and they have a strong following. TNA really needs established teams to help strengthen that division
Speaking of which, hopefully they're done with Grado/ Shera vs the Tribunal. I like both teams but I feel like this feud has been going on forever.... I think Grado/ Shera vs Decay would be extremely entertaining. Just for Grado acting like a goof and being udderly terrified of the Decay (and eventually overcoming his fear and facing them)

I hate Grado, if he's going to be around I'd rather have Odarg. Shera has potential of they would take him serious and drop the dancing Indian shit. I've said it before but I'd like to see him in the X Division as a Somoa Joe type.
I've been impressed with Tribunal, didn't watch a lot of them in NXT but I'm not sure what WWE didn't see in them but it could just be them working with Al Snow. I think they're better than the Vaudevillians and the Ascension though.

Some additional thoughts after the latest set of tapings:
* Bobby Lashley just threw down the X-Division Title? Oh boy.
* Having the three rounds is a bit cheesy and convoluted, but I can understand that they want to shake their product up and need to have these guys bounce off each other in unique ways. That being said, they could have tried out the concept before bringing in a new belt and automatically assuming it will catch on. TNA needs to have some MOTY candidates and garner some good will towards them -- I don't see this being the answer.
* TNA sucks.
* Zema Ion just won the belt that was discarded as an afterthought.
* They turned Drew Galloway heel and Mike Bennett babyface? Oh boy.
* There was a Fingerpoke of Doom spot for the Knockout's Title. Oh boy.

ROH Death Before Dishonor results.
JAY WHITE VS. LIO RUSH VS. DONOVAN DIJAK VS. KAMAITACHI FOR THE TOP CONTENDER FOR THE TV TITLE
Dijak got the pin on Rush using feast your eyes, which is a fireman's carry into a knee, like a GTS but not exactly. All action match. Rush was the flashiest of the four with several dives including a reverse huracanrans on the floor. Dijak, who was twice hte size of the other three, did a springboard screw plancha. Looks like we're having trouble witht he mic'ing but there were chants and stuff.
Silas Young did an interview anti-New Japan saying New Japan guys get all the good spots when they come in and made fun of all the fans being nerds.
KATSUYORI SHIBATA VS. SILAS YOUNG
The crowd reacted real big for Shibata, Shibata won as expected with the choke and penalty kick. Young got a lot of offense including a split legged moonsault. The two traded slaps after the match and then shook hands and stared each other down after the match. Match was fine, they built to a big spot where Shibata was about to head-butt Young but Young slapped him.
TAMA TONGA & TANGA ROA & YUJIRO TAKAHASHI VS. ROCKY ROMERO & BARETTA & TORU YANO
This was mostly built around Yano's comedy. Yano pinned Takahashi with a low blow. After the match, The Bulet Club beat down Chaos and in paricular Yano. Hangman Page put the noose on Yano's neck until Jay Briscoe made the savae. This set up Briscoe vs. Page
JAY BRISCOE VS. HANGMAN PAGE IN AN ANYTHING GOES MATCH
This was a long brutal match. This was to put Page over on Jay and make him a star. The finish saw Page block a Jay driller on the apron and instead used the rights of passage, which is an Omori driver on Jay through the table. Both were hurt as the table took a chunk out of Page's left knee and Jay was bleeding badly from the back. Page then used the bullrope to choke Briscoe out and then gave him another rights of passage in the ring for the pin. They put it over like this was the biggest win in Page's career. There were lots of spots with the noose and with chairs throguhout the match. The crowd seemed like they really liked it. We'll try and see how Page is because he was screaming in pain regarding his knee, finished the match and seemed like he was hurting bbad as soon as it was over.
The Boys had the Okada dollar bills and Castle said he understands The Boys love New Japan. He said he loves New Japan but he loves dropping people on their heads and ate an Okada bill.
KAZUCHIKA OKADA VS. DALTON CASTLE
The crowd loved Okada. They're chanting his name and throwing streamers. Good match although it struggled early. Castle got a lot of offense but the fans never truly believed he could win. He even did the bang a rang but Okada rolled out of the ring to avoid the pin. Castle did a lot of different suplexes. They teased that The Boys were big Okada fans and at one point they were helping him. Okada won getting out of the bang a rang, hit the tombstone piledriver and rainmaker for the pin. Both shook hands after and both men and The Boys all posed together at the end.
BOBBY FISH VS. MARK BRISCOE FOR THE TV TITLE
Fish retained with an exploder into the turnbuckles and a falcon arrow. Earlier Briscoe kicked out of the falcon arrow and Fish kicked out of the froggy bow. This was solid and the crowd did some chants but something was missing. It was hard hitting early and went long with the near falls. Not sure if the crowd micing is hurting this or it's the crowd into moves but not the match. Hard to say from TV. It's also seemed like the crowd was more into seeing New Japan stars live than seeing ROH major matches.
CHRISTOPHER DANIELS & FRANKIE KAZARIAN VS. HIROSHI TANAHASHI & MICHAEL ELGIN VS. TETSUYA NAITO & EVIL FOR TAG TITLES
Daniels & Kazarian retained in a great match with a clever finish. Tanahashi was on the top rope and Daniels touched his boot as a tag. Tanahashi hit the high fly flow on Evil and went for the pin but technically Daniels was the legal guy and he jumped in and cradled Evil while Tanahashi was on top so they retained the titles. Matt Taven did the heel commentary trying to be obnoxious and did a real good job of that. Elgin was the star of the match doing all kinds of power moves like a German suplex on Daniels & Kazarian at the same time, the fallaway on Naito & Evil at the same time and he even did a running flip dive on everyone. Naito and Tanahashi were really over with the crowd. Tanahashi & Elgin seemed on the verge of winning when Kamaitachi came out and distracted which allowed Daniels to hit both Tanahashi & Elgin with belt shots and Kazarian to hit Evil with one.
JAY LETHAL VS. ADAM COLE FOR THE ROH TITLE
Cole ended the one year plus title reign after an Ushigoroshi, a shining wizard and another Ushigoroshi. The match saw them kick out of each others' big moves including Lethal kicking out of the Canadian Destroyer off the ropes and Cole kicked out of the Lethal injection. Long match and crowd loved it at the end with the fans on their feet and going crazy for the near falls. Afte the match Kyle O'Reilly showed up durign the celebration and cltheslined Cole. O'reilly laid himn out with a brainbustrer so it looks like Cole vs. O'Reilly coming up at All-Star Extravaganza at the end of next month. Among the highlights were Lethal doing an elbow off the top rope to a table on the floor about two-thirds of the way to the other side and Cole moved and Lethal crashed through and busted his head open. It took forever to set up the spot because Lethal couldn't find where the table was under the ring and when he did find it, it was covered in streamers and he had to get rid of the streamres. Lethal also did five straight topes, but on the sixth Cole sidestepped him and Lethal crashed into the barricade

TNA is on Pop now but if they don't get USA they probably don't have Pop. YouTube still probably your best option.

A new report suggests that Dixie Carter may be on her way out of TNA. Despite what is being said publicly, Carter’s is now “completely” out of power and “pretty much on her way out,” the Wrestling Observer reports.

Ring of Honor is supposed to be announcing a new title for the promotion on Tuesday. Could be a women's title, don't really need another mid card title I don't think.

I really don't like the TV Title in ROH. Given how people digest their media these days, the idea of a TV Title at all feels antiquated. It's also way too similar to the World Title. I'd be fine with them having World, Tag Team and Women's, provided they had the women for a division and that division was over and people wanted to see them fight over something.
I'd be fine with the Pure Title coming back too. I really associate that belt with good wrestlers getting to explore drama in their matches in different ways. I don't know if AJ Styles, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan or Nigel McGuinness would credit working within that paradigm for their eventual development, but I don't think it fucking hurt them. ROH is also associated with that ring style, but with the WWE, particularly NXT, picking it up, ROH needs something that sets itself apart. A Pure Title that allows guys to construct their matches differently could be the answer.
I've always been fascinated by the idea of a belt that is defended in 2/3 Falls Matches for the longest time though. Just to test the drama of having a champion that goes on a "two-straight fall" streak, or develops a series of moves that is designed to put opponents away two straight. It would help buck the conventions of your average match, and also challenge the usual booking strategies between 2/3 Falls matches (one fall a-piece, quick first fall, etc.).

ROH World Title
ROH World Women's Championship
ROH World Tag Team Championship
ROH Pure Title
ROH Man Up Title (2/3 Falls)

I could see it being the Pure Championship just for it's lineage. Guys like Styles, Lethal, Samoa Joe, and Daniel Bryan being former champions is pretty big for the title if it returns. With the CMLL and NJPW both being featured in ROH it wouldn't hurt to have another mid card title. Feel like they are pushing the Women of Honor though and it will be a Women's championship.

It's a Six Man Championship
http://rohwrestling.com/news/roh-introduce-world-six-man-tag-team-championship
The inaugural ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions will be crowned in an eight-team tournament that begins at the end of September. This will be the first time in six years that ROH has created a new title.
Teams expected to compete in the tournament include: Bullet Club, The Cabinet (Rhett Titus, Kenny King and Caprice Coleman) and the current World Tag Team Champions The Addiction (Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian) and Kamaitachi.

So these are the other two guys who signed with the company back when TNA signed a bunch of new talents. I like both guys, Konley has been a standout for years. I don't know if we need "another cocky arrogant heel" in the X division. He's done some really good work with tag teams, Caleb would be a good trash talker in a team with a burly enforcer behind him.... Is Ayden O'Shea still around? (Maybe put him and Konley in matching trunks) I liked Rocket, he's kind of a big dude to be in the X Division but he does move very well and it goes to the "no limits" idea.

I'm going to say something a bit controversial -- I'm actually optimistic about TNA's future at the moment. Dixie Carter is gone. That woman did the best she could to choke the life out of TNA. The hiring of Kurt Angle coincided with the hiring of Vince Russo, which is a damn shame, because wrestling could be very different right now if Dixie wasn't naive enough to fall for that shit, and she trusted Dutch Mantel and Jim Cornette to run operations.
My opinion is still out on Corgan, but he could make some decent in-roads to rehiring someone who actually knows how to book and to at least give him ideas. Dutch is free. Please, please, PLEASE get him back. For those who don't know, Dutch was the guy behind the Women's Division in its early days with Kim and Kong and the guy behind Angle/Joe when it actually drew money.
There is a bevy of free agents that are dissatisfied with how the WWE treated them. They are hungry to prove themselves. Cody Rhodes is apparently working on a deal to go there, and he'll be taking Brandi. That's a great start. Alberto Del Rio, Paige, Ryback, Wade Barrett -- all of them have some measure of potential left. I'd sacrifice all of them, except maybe Paige, for Cesaro if he decides to leave WWE though.
Kurt Angle said he was taking a break, but he clearly was only taking a break from TNA. Bring him back, treat him like a god and build to a few matches a year for him. Try and court The Briscoes by allowing them to remain associated with ROH and New Japan. If you can get a Hardys vs. Briscoes match on PPV, you will draw money. If you have built up Bobby Lashley as a capable heel champion and crown Cesaro as a new babyface challenger with a win over Kurt Angle on this same PPV, you might be out of the gate a bit.
TNA has lost a lot of its bargaining power. Cody can basically pick his dates right now. But in a way this is good -- because TNA has always tried to run before it was walking properly. TNA is not WWE -- it doesn't need to own the brands of its wrestlers and it doesn't need to keep them locked in cellars when it isn't using them. TNA can be a promotion that works for the boys and girls that contribute to it, and it can lend its top talent to other promotions, build their prestige, bring them back fresh, and operate entirely different to the WWE. They can be babyfaces.

ROH reportedly added 4 months to Adam Coles contract that would have expired at the end of the year for being injured last year. Could be a sign he's not going to resign and coming to WWE.
Mr. Nerfect
09-16-2016, 10:53 PM
It could also be that Adam Cole doesn't want to jump to the WWE until he knows he'll be in the clear for something resembling a push. Signing around the Rumble time might lead to him "blending in." But there's still a lot that Cole can get out of New Japan and ROH for the moment -- especially New Japan -- and that will ultimately make him more valuable to the WWE.

The 4 months added would put him at about April so it'd be after Mania before he could come to WWE which is probably better considering there will be a lot of NXT call ups around that time. Yeah still a lot he could do in ROH and NJPW and them teaming up to sign free agents helps their chance of keeping him a bit.
Mr. Nerfect
09-16-2016, 11:17 PM
Yeah, I imagine that he'll reassess when he sees how badly NXT needs him after Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Roode, Samoa Joe and possibly a few others have made themselves comfortable on the main roster.

I think it was a good idea turning Drew heel. With Moose turning face and Rex coming in, they need more strong heels in the company (especially with Broken Matt becoming a face). I have a few mutual friends in TNA and they said Rex coming in was in part to Drew (him and Drew are really close friends)
With that said.... I'm not a fan of "emo Drew". Drew is a great heel in ICW. He's got a stable built around him, very similar to the "chosen one" gimmick in WWE. I'd rather see him as more of a cocky arrogant heel than what he's doing now...

How was Galloway doing as a babyface? I've always liked the guy. He's grown into those big paws he has in the ring and even earned himself some praise from Bret Hart while he was still in WWE. He'll return bigger and better one day.
He does seem more naturally suited to being a heel. My big problem with it is that he sort of turned babyface quite recently didn't he? Plus, he's turning to face a newcomer. I don't believe in too many fixed rules in pro-wrestling, but generally speaking, I think it's always good to give someone who turns a victory in their program, because otherwise why did they turn? You don't start a fire by pissing on the kindling, no matter how drunk you are.

Nah, Drew has been a face since he arrived in TNA. Had The Rising stable with Eli Drake and Micah(Tanga Roa/Camacho). Eli turned on him and Micah left to team with his brother in NJPW. If Rex and Galloway both make it to the finals of the tournament as they should I hope the championship match has longer than 3 minute rounds. 5 minute rounds would work.

Really hard to make sense of what is going on in TNA a lot of the time. Bobby Lashley has turned like three times in the last two years. I think Matt Hardy was a heel for two months or so. For someone with a casual perspective, it is extremely easy to get lost.

That's why this is a weird idea. Galloway is a fresh character, Rex is a fresh character -- something's gotta give. But now I'm hearing that they're not even booked against each other yet? Maybe they will give them different opponents? Who else is in this tournament?

Galloway was face since he debuted in the company in Jan 2015 so he was face for over a year and a half.
Matt was a heel from Jan this year up until about a month or so ago. He was one of the few times a heel character won over the crowd and became a face because a feud with another heel.
C'mon Noid. You're one of my favourites here but you're making yourself look stupid here; you can't come into a thread trying to pick apart the booking and have no idea what's been going on for any part of the year. Please, man. I love you.

I appreciate the point, but you don't need to see the entirety of a movie to know it is going to be shit. I've been following TNA loosely for as long as it has been around, and it's honestly hard to keep up with who is a face and who is a heel.
Mr. Nerfect
09-23-2016, 07:15 AM
I don't think you even need to be an avid consumer of a product to understand why it doesn't appeal to you. Not being able to easily decipher who is a face and who is a heel because there is a turn every few weeks is actually a problem. Matt being a heel for six months is not a long time. Granted, maybe he got "over" and started getting cheered, so kudos to TNA for rolling with the punches, but it's still inconsistent storytelling to switch someone every so many months.
Does anyone care to dispute the Bobby Lashley turns? Didn't Moose turn after being there for about a month? Come on, guys. You only need to be acquainted roughly with the conventions of storytelling to know this isn't effective.
I don't need to go back and watch RAW from this past week to tell you that Kevin Owens losing a match as the Universal Champion this early into his run, in a Steel Cage Match, so close to Hell in a Cell, isn't exactly wonderful booking. I don't need to watch TNA every week to say "Holy fucking shit is this shit fucking confusing." Because it is.
Simple Fan, how many times have you, in the Impact threads, had to explain the rules of a Grand Championship match to people? Don't you think this speaks volumes about what they are doing?
And I'm sorry, but unless Drew Galloway isn't a fresh heel, and unless Aron Rex isn't a fresh babyface, I don't see how the overall point about this being counter-productive isn't valid. Does anyone care to dispute that? It's like when the crowds were chanting "Fire Russo!" and Dixie Carter took to the internet to say "Well, actually, Russo didn't even book it, so there." That's kinda missing the point...
By the way, the irony in this is that people act as if the start of 2015 until now is a long time for someone to retain a disposition in professional wrestling. I suppose these days it is.
