Really Good match meh ending

I've noticed something the WWE can't seem to do feuds with women beyond title trading first Paige v Aj now Sasha v Charlotte

They did the same thing with the triple threat at No Mercy.

Really, this match is a great victory for equality.

The women too can have weird booking, the person people don't want as the face of the company being the face of the company, and no heat on the ending of a PPV.

I can imagine what she's thinking, she worked her ass off in her time to lay a foundation for women to one day be THE main event.

Lita was the main event in 2005 when more people were watching.

Charlotte winning makes perfect sense. What didn't make sense was taking the belt off her in the first place. They have like three viable women on RAW, so they have to keep bouncing the belt between them to keep the illusion that things are happening. Also, the Cell can't end things in 2016. It has to be a stop-gag solution to the big deal PPV in three weeks.

Just feels stupid to have that kind of brutal looking match and not end the feud especially since a new champ got crowned. WWE screwed up having the Cell ppv come before Survivor Series this year.

That sucked, big time. Most of the match was slow and very segmented. I hate to say it, but Rusev/Reigns was probably the best of the 3 overall. Rollins/Owens was good, but the finish wouldn't have made a good ending to the PPV so I understand why they didn't make it last.

Sasha & Charlotte are great female wrestlers, but the match shouldn't have been in the Cell. A straight No DQ match is basically what we had there.

The Hell In A Cell gimmick has really jumped the shark. I use to look forward to the Cell matches, but other than Lesnar/Taker last year, they all really suck ever since TV-PG. If you're not gonna use any real emphasis of the gimmick, then it doesn't belong on the card anymore.

And WTF at the WCW booking. Why hot-potato the belt that you are trying to make? That call was really stupid.

You can completely over-hype and overproduce them to a counterproductive level.

Yep. Just book them and let it flow they don't have to keep barking about a revolution people will get it and if its good(this was fun) people will watch.

James Steele probably has a throbbing boner for Charlotte because she's basically gonna be 2002-2004 Triple H for the Women's division.

They do that every year. It happens is October with the pink ropes and the thrown together feuds. The Cell hasn't meant anything since Cactus/Triple H.

It's like when a female comedian is actually hyped as a "female comedian." Or when you get a female doctor to give a medical opinion on a TV show and they make a big deal out of her being a woman with an education.

Actually would be a cool wrinkle if one of these days the face carries on with the attack assuming it's a fake injury, only for it to turn out that it's real in kayfabe and then the face feels bad and everybody backstage shuns him and treats him like a huge piece of shit.

I enjoyed this show. Enjoyed all the Hell in a Cell matches.

I liked the end of the women's match, because it just seem "brutal"..... sure wasn't a "big spot through the table", but was just viscously tossed into it a few times and finally put away with the finishing move. Seemed "Raw".......

I don't mind the "hot-shotting" of the belt either......... people forget that during your precious "Attitude Era" during a lot of the best/hottest feuds they were "hot-shotting" the world title a lot.........

Pretty obv what they're doing with the hot shotting of the Women's title every couple of weeks. They've gotta get Charlotte's reigns up to 16 ASAP, so they can make it central to her character and sell the Tshirt. At their rate, it won't take long into next year to get it done.

While it didn't save the ending from feeling a bit anti climactic, that was probably the most vicious natural selection I've ever seen charlotte perform.

Honestly think the ending would have been fine if they had just broken through that table. LIke the finish itself wasn't weird, it was more that there was an unbroken table sitting right there.

Agree with Lock Jaw on the "brutallity" aspect of the ending. I think the only thing I would have liked to have seen would have been Charlotte to hit natural selection 2 or 3 times on Sasha just to make sure she was put away for good and really hammer home the point.

I really think they could trade the entire Raw and SmackDown rosters with each other today and it'd be the same thing. Raw would be boring and SmackDown would be good.

They just don't know what they're doing on Raw. The women main-eventing was decided on the day and they weren't even sure who was going over until just before the went out according to DA SHEETZ.

I had a feeling Charlotte was going over when I saw it actually was the main event. Any "firsts" are going to probably go to her.

Stickman
10-31-2016, 10:00 AM
The beginning to the main event was morth cringe worthy than the end. Nice to see a finisher end things and not get kicked out of. But a powerbomb through the table to start the match and then act like it was the worst thing that ever happened was weak. If she fell through the table when she was halfway up the cage, ok fine. But she was like 5'10" up so to do te stretcher spot just seemed to be reaching for sympathy and I don't think it delivered and the crowd didn't seem into it either.

Too many Hiac matches took away from the work in the ring and made it feel repetitive.
The cell needs to be used more as a means to end feuds with an exclamation point.

Its funny. The WWE tried so hard to get these guys over. Have them the massive build up on The Network tourny. Put them on the flagship show. Gave them a unique look and feel on RAW. Didn't use them as canon fodder for bigger guys. And yet still the fans are rejecting them. Goes to show that by and large the sports entertainment fan would rather watch bigger larger than life stars. Not guys the size of their little brother.

Credit to WWE for trying though.

• I'd say that Rusev/Reigns was the second best HIAC match last night. Rusev using the kendo stick on a chest protector-wearing Reigns made no sense. It got worse when Reigns sold it.

As I said, it was a good match but it did have its "bad" moments. Reigns being victorious even though he got his ass handed to him was probably the worst, but also Reigns working his way out of The Accolade with a chain wrapped across his mouth was also pretty "bad" too.

I am happy Rusev lost though as I've said many times before, he can now go on to bigger and better things, such as chasing the Universal Championship and I feel his loss last night has helped him with that as he was pretty dominant throughout the match, which will help him look like a legitimate threat to the Universal Champion whenever that time comes.

• Also, speaking of getting your ass handed to you only to end up winning, I feel the same happened during the Bayley/Brooke match.

Brooke looked so good during the match and was showing how far she's came since her call up to the main roster. She dominated that match but came out the loser. She should also stick to that ring attire. She looks so much more intimidating and professional with that one than she does with her purple one with no back to it.

I hate that purple one.

• Gallows & Anderson/Enzo & Cass was alright but I feel I've slightly soured on Cass. At first I was really high on him but now. Meh. I still feel the duo should go their separate ways or that Cass should go into singles action and have Enzo be his manager and occasional mouthpiece. I really feel that Enzo is holding Cass back to a degree. I also noticed that Enzo has reached that point where he's recycling his lines. He's used the "Times New Roman" joke a few times before.

I don't get what's going on with Gallows & Anderson. They say that all the fun and games is over and that's why they've went after Enzo & Cass, but after them, which fun-loving team is next? Golden Truth?

If it is them, then nobody is really going to give a fuck.

• I'd say the best HIAC match was Owens/Rollins, which surprises me as I absolutely hate Owens and everything he does, but I can't lie and say I didn't enjoy it. I really feel that this should have been the main event and not Banks/Charlotte. The match was main event quality and was good from beginning to end.

• Kendrick/Perkins was slow as all hell and I feel it killed the crowd a bit after the HIAC match but I'm just happy that Kendrick won.

I like me some Kendrick.

The finish though wasn't all that great and all it really did was make Perkins look like a complete retard.

• I think we can all safely say now that The New Day are going to be breaking Demolition's record.

The match was actually not that bad, but the ending just sucked. Is there something about Cesaro and Sheamus that everything they're involved in has to completely suck? The decisions when it comes to these guys have been pretty terrible recently. The Best Of Seven Series ending in a draw was bad and them being thrown together sucked and I thought the payoff would be them winning the titles, but they didn't. They lose their shot via DQ.

So I can't help but feel that the last three months have been completely pointless and a waste of time. I can only hope something happens on Raw tonight, like they win the titles in a rematch or something.

• Finally, the "Main Event". This really shouldn't have been the main event. Maybe I'm just old fashioned or whatever, but why have the main event of your PPV not be headlined with a match for your brand's biggest championship?

I can see why No Mercy kicked off with the WWE Championship, but I can't help but feel that Banks/Charlotte was the main event just so the WWE could be all "Equality!" and so on. It felt forced. It didn't feel natural.

The match itself was pretty shit though. I just felt it was a massive spot-fest along with Banks trying to see how many times she could land on her neck/head without killing herself, along with trying her best Mick Foley impersonation from time to time.

The ending was pretty bad too. I feel the table was supposed to break but it didn't because Banks didn't set it up correctly.

I'm happy that Charlotte won though. I can now only hope that we're done with the Banks/Charlotte saga and Charlotte can get some new competition. Saying that though and the only real competition left is Nia Jax but she would need a face turn to go after the title.

• Overall, the PPV was fine but I enjoyed No Mercy more. It's just something about Raw that makes the show and its PPV's feel "meh". I don't know what word I'm looking for but I just don't find myself enjoying Raw and its PPV's as much as I enjoy SmackDown and its PPV's.

I'm no fan of female sports. My personal opinion is they are unnecessary. However, as a highly successful businessman, I see value in presenting female athletes in hopes that girls will empty their wallets. One of the things I'm most interested as far as ratings and merchandise is if you see a spike in female purchasing power in the next 12-18 months. If not, it will show all this effort was a waste.

As for the title, in theory the women's title and the universal title should be on equal footing. WWE has been going out of their way to try to demonstrate that on TV.

Not even that. She's undefeated in singles matches at PPVs. So basically expect her to win in whatever singles matches she is involved in at PPVs, but she'll drop the title on TV and lose in multi-woman matches.
