So glad this isn't one show. Allows them to space out things and actually put a tiny bit of focus on Lashley vs. Black and Dolph vs. Otis, which they wouldn't have been able to do on one shows, and they desperately need to emphasize fresh guys. Obviously a live crowd would help, but I feel that creatively this scenario has actually helped WWE focus some things up and present them in their best way.

The problem is that if they wanted to do Mania as two night shows in the future, they'd need to the sell the tickets both nights and that would require focusing down and having compelling programs on both nights, and being able to advertise just what those programs on each night are.

Yeah, so far it feels the better of the two nights.

Helps that it didn't have two boring or bad matches and a cringeworthy Gronk promo to start off the show

WWE does really well when you take away their freedom a little bit. When they have to be good, they are better at being good than just about anyone in 30 years. They just don't give a shit about that when they're the only game in town. Vince wants to get his movie studio and football leagues up and running.

But that brings eyeballs to his company, which means he's got to keep it at least strong. And I think these big TV deals mean that he can pay talent he wants to stay, which means he can actually make them stars without fear of them running away to Hollywood or the UFC. Plus, most of them are signed for five years anyway.

I predicted this last year: 2020 would be an surprisingly good year for the WWE creatively, their best since 2000, just because they can afford it and there will be enough external pressure on them to be good because of the XFL and dropping metrics. The Royal Rumble was the best booked Rumble, possibly ever, but definitely since 2001 and further back since 1992. Maybe things would be different if they only had one night, but the pressures on this WrestleMania means they're thinking "Shit, we've got to make this look as good as possible."

Watched the Ladder Match. Holy shit John Morrison is a fucking star and still so fucking good. I remember really loving him towards the end of his last WWE run. My only complaint was that he was so fucking cool during the match that it's just counterproductive for a heel, but then they pulled off that ending. Morrison looks slimy and lucky to be alive. Great fucking shit! Tag teams matter on SmackDown.
