My friends all usually bet on the Rumble match and I remember a few years ago when it was spoiled online that Randy was gonna win and I took all the money home that night. Everyone thought I was nuts picking Orton too, haha shoulda read the sheets.

LOL I remember Orton was the betting favorite a week or two before the match despite being in the middle of a midcard stable with the Wyatt Family with zero indication at all that he would even be in the title picture. Was a very clear leak.

Yeah, I remember Dave reporting it because he became a sudden front-runner in the tipping. It’s not like there was any build to it, someone just knew and the sheets got wind of it that way.

Fun story: Going to blow my own horn for a second. I’m pretty sure I’m responsible for Dolph Ziggler climbing the tipping in 2018. I just didn’t believe Shinsuke Nakamura was going to win, so I went around with a rationale that Dolph Ziggler would make sense because he’s established and they need him to be viable on house shows or whatever. Then Ziggler became this weird front-runner (or close to it) for a while.

I checked the tipping earlier. Bray Wyatt ranks higher than most people on the current roster, lol. There’s no real rumor he’s coming back, but I’ve seen people post it places as a complete fan theory (because he hasn’t appeared anywhere else I guess), and he was behind Big E, Drew McIntyre and maybe Brock Lesnar or something.

My point is: Sometimes the tipsters will reveal truths to you not evident on TV, but sometimes they’ll catch wind of something weird and out of the box that they can disguise as a weird sort of “long shot” bet to lure people in. But Bray Wyatt was ahead of even my pick earlier today.

Gotta disagree with you here, man. They’ve looked after him. I think he could have been bigger and better used overall, don’t get me wrong — but the guy has had a really reputable career, made good money, got to get his family settled, is always featured and is actually pretty protected. When he last lost the IC Title to Strowman, he got beat because he went into an exposed turnbuckle — even though he was the heel. Braun was Universal Champion over Goldberg a few weeks later.

Pretty sure Naks feels respected by them. It may not be him and Tanahashi for the IC Title at Wrestle Kingdom in the main event, but the dude has a Hall of Fame spot waiting for him if he leaves on good terms.

Just playing devil’s advocate here: Neither would be my choice, but someone has to be the first man out. Shinsuke has won before, he’s been pretty looked after as IC Champ — he’s a good cushion, although he’s better than that (and maybe he hasn’t signed his extension yet).

With Edge & Miz — this stuff is for the reality show. It doesn’t mean shit to us, and this might seem trivial, but the placement on the card and whatever — making it seem more important than trivial — could be part of the story.

It’s weak, I know. But those reality shows are an important part of the WWE’s exposure, whether we like them or not. Following big matches and going a long time could be part of what they’ve got planned for that drama. Maybe.

There have been Rumble Matches that suck or are forgettable. Haven’t seen this one, so can’t comment, but I trust Gerty.

Not every Rumble should be a masterclass in poetic symmetry either, btw. It’s part of the booking of it that makes it so beautiful when done right, or close to right. If every Rumble was the greatest match ever, then none of them are. Nothing should aim to be “bad,” don’t get me wrong, but sometimes guys should just get dumped on their head and lose, and it should be a bit ugly.

If I had to guess today, they will probably do another title change at the Chamber, and somehow get it to a Triple Threat of Lashley, Mcintyre, and Rollins. Don't see Edge or Big E getting into the mix.

He’s been champion for quite a while and I don’t remember him dropping many falls, even in tags. He’s visible with a belt that signals to people he is important. That does make an impression on viewers. He just won a tag on SmackDown against Jinder & Shanky.
