A TPWW SSBB League would be great but the European & Austrelian members wont be involved for a while. Nintendo has said SSBB wont get a PAL release until sometime after June 2008. So July at the earliest.

Bonsly walks around.

Why is this Pokémon named Bonsly? Those familiar with the world of Pokémon understand that while it appears to be a bonsai tree, Bonsly’s body is made up of rocks and stones.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/mball/images/mball08/mball08_071210c.jpg
It’s pretty heavy!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/mball/images/mball08/mball08_071210d.jpg
When you throw it at someone, it won’t fly far...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/mball/images/mball08/mball08_071210e.jpg
But it sure does hurt!

Even if an opponent’s damage meter is below 50%, this thing packs enough power to potentially knock him or her off.

You may only get hit once in a while, but if you do, watch out!!

Picture five or more players huddled around a Wii.

The number of people who can play is limited by the number of controllers that can connect. When that happens, you usually have the people who win or lose rotate out so that everyone gets a turn, right?

So be nice and give everybody a chance to play!

... ...That’s how I feel anyway, but just in case you need a little help being nice (and since everyone has their own controller preferences), I went ahead and rigged up a Rotation mode.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various17/various17_071211a.jpg
This is the top menu for Group mode!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various17/various17_071211b.jpg
First decide the number of controllers.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various17/various17_071211c.jpg
Then get a count of people in the room with you
and enter that in.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various17/various17_071211d.jpg
How many people per brawl?

You can set the rules to rotate out a set number of winners or losers from the brawl. Rotation doesn’t have to be about coming in first place.

If your group is on pretty equal footing with each other, go for Loser Swaps Out. If you’ve got some green players in your midst, why not start out with Winner Swaps Out?

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various17/various17_071211e.jpg
It’s always useful to log your name.

But, hey, if it’s too much of a bother for you, you can play fine without it. Just as long as you remember your guest number, that is.

If a new player happens to come by during a Rotation match, you can add him or her to the group if you’re willing to head back to the name-entry screen.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various17/various17_071211f.jpg
When your name comes up, press a button to confirm.

Press a button on the controller of your choice when your name pops up. That sets the controller you’ll use.

And of course, your control settings will be applied when you play.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various17/various17_071211g.jpg
Need a bathroom break? Opt to sit out a match!

Even with numerous controllers and dozens of people lined up to play, you’ll be good to go if you use this mode!

... ... Well, not quite.

Rotation is limited to 16 players. Mm hmm.

Today, I’m going to introduce Options.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various18/various18_071112b.jpg
All options are coloured purple.

Deflicker
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various18/various18_071112c.jpg
Choose between graphics that are razor sharp
or nice and smooth.

This is... Well, it’s sort of hard to explain using only static shots, but try toggling it on and off on your own TV. Play with the setting that fits your taste.

Rumble
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various18/various18_071112d.jpg
Set rumble separately
for Gamecube Controllers and Wii Remotes.

Toggle the proverbial buzz-buzz on your controllers on and off.

Just remember, the Classic Controller doesn’t have rumble, so don’t get too carried away.

You can also set rumble preferences for each logged name.

Sound
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various18/various18_071112e.jpg
The slider goes left and right.

You can use this to adjust the balance between the game’s music and sound effects.

Oh, a sound test is also available from the first time you power the game on!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various18/various18_071112f.jpg
Flip through by title or category.

There’s quite a few songs available, so I’ve decided to also divide things up by category this time.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various18/various18_071112g.jpg
You mean I can listen to sound effects from my favourite character as much as I want?

Erase Data
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various18/various18_071112h.jpg
This is by far the most dangerous of the option modes.

Yeaaah... Don’t fiddle around with these options.

I mean it now. Don’t mess around on this screen.

No, seriously. I’m not playing here.

And that’s not all.

For more about these three, you can go over and check out their individual pages.

Each of these modes is designed to let you tweak the game to match your own preferences, but obviously you don’t have to mess around with these options if you don’t feel like it.

Relax and enjoy.

The Mario Circuit stage appears! Of course, we HAVE shown it briefly in past movies...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/stages/images/stage19/stage19_071213a.jpg
This popular series makes an impressive debut.

It’s a figure-of-eight course, and you do battle at the crossing of the 8.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/stages/images/stage19/stage19_071213b.jpg
There are even grandstands in places you can’t see!

It hurts when the karts racing around the track hit you. They come in from the side and from the back of the screen, so be careful.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/stages/images/stage19/stage19_071213c.jpg
When they come from the back, and you are on the lower level, look out.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/stages/images/stage19/stage19_071213d.jpg
When they come from the side, and you are on the upper level, look out.

The karts are serious about their race. You can get a general idea of their location on the screen at the back, so pay attention to it.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/stages/images/stage19/stage19_071213e.jpg
You can actually make them wipe out, too.

I think the F-Zero track will be Big Blue with the cars right under you. Mario Kart seems to have taken Mute Citys place.

Drakul
12-13-2007, 03:06 AM

This character, the prince of the heavenly seas, appeared in the Japan-only release "Densetsu no Stafy". He’s shaped like a star, but maybe he’s really a starfish???

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/assist/images/assist13/assist13_071214b.jpg
I’ll do it! I’m doing it!

...He never says anything like that.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/assist/images/assist13/assist13_071214c.jpg
His body shines brightly.

He boldly does a spin attack!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/assist/images/assist13/assist13_071214e.jpg
But...he’s weak?

He’s rare for an Assist Trophy, as he can be attacked.

Sometimes you may wonder "Stafy, why did you even come here?!" – but that’s part of his charm.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/assist/images/assist14/assist14_071214b.jpg
...Waluigi appears nonetheless!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/assist/images/assist14/assist14_071214c.jpg
He dashes at foes...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/assist/images/assist14/assist14_071214d.jpg
He stomps on whoever he currently despises!

Characters that suffer his stomping get embedded in the dirt.

Waluigi keeps on stomping, punishing his foe persistently with successive blows. As should be expected from Waluigi.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/assist/images/assist14/assist14_071214e.jpg
He finishes with a mighty kick...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/assist/images/assist14/assist14_071214f.jpg
...or his tennis racket!

Never forget to finish off those who are helpless to resist. Such a philosophy should really be expected from Waluigi.

This time, Event matches can be played in two-player mode! Wow. This is a great game for couples.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various19/various19_071217a.jpg
When you press the Player 2 button here...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various19/various19_071217b.jpg
The two-player Events begin!

These are not battles – they’re co-operative play. So, you tackle the challenge of each Event together.

There are fewer two-player Events than single-player ones, but they each have different settings than the single-player matches.

C-could this be a Coin battle?! With lots of notes...

That reminds me, there are Coin battles this time around, too. When you launch an opponent, you collect their money. The player with the most money at the end wins.

What you see in the background is the Parasite Queen.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/stages/images/stage20/stage20_071218b.jpg
Th-the power went out?!

For a spaceship that just causes trouble, it sure does have a lot of problems.

But what really defines this stage is the way it rotates 180 degrees.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/stages/images/stage20/stage20_071218c.jpg
The siren scream is a warning!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/stages/images/stage20/stage20_071218d.jpg
Suddenly, it flips...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/stages/images/stage20/stage20_071218e.jpg
...and the terrain inverts!

When the siren goes off, jump into the air to flee.

But when you’re in a pinch, so is your opponent. Stall your opponent to take advantage!

This item has absolutely no relevance for those who normally just play free-for-all brawls. But not knowing how to use the item would be problematic, so I’ll just explain it.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/images/item13/item13_071219b.jpg
You might be able to imagine what it is from its name...

Before I get ahead of myself, I must explain that this game features a Team Battle mode.

For example, this function allows people to break into teams of two and do battle when four people are playing.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/images/item13/item13_071219c.jpg
There are three team colours: red, green and blue.

And the Team Healer has absolutely no function if you’re on your own.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/images/item13/item13_071219d.jpg
If you pick it up, you just hold it. It doesn’t do anything.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/images/item13/item13_071219e.jpg
But, if you throw it at your ally...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/images/item13/item13_071219f.jpg
...your ally’s damage meter gets replenished!

The higher your damage meter, the more you recover.

But, if you don’t alert each other, you may not hit your team-mate.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/images/item13/item13_071219g.jpg
And occasionally,
it may cause an opponent to recover damage instead...

This is the standard Wario found in Smash.

Everyone can change colours, of course. But Wario alone is special...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/wario/wario_071224b.jpg
Look! Wario is in overalls!

There may be some people who prefer this one. This is the "classic" Wario.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/wario/wario_071224c.jpg
Flab is poking out from his sides...

Choose him just like you would any of the other characters. This outfit appears after the six standard colour variations.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/wario/wario_071224d.jpg
Press the X or Y Button, or poke the pattern to change colours.

What’s more, this version has its own colour variations. What a bonus!

Oh! Talk about individualised!

Super Sonic

When talking about Sonic’s Final Smash, there is no other option than Super Sonic!

Use the power of the Chaos Emeralds to transform. Race through the air at reckless speed!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/sonic/sonic_071225a.jpg
Get the Smash Ball!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/sonic/sonic_071225b.jpg
Now I'll show you!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/sonic/sonic_071225c.jpg
Haaaaaaaaahhhhh!

He has tremendous inertia and is hard to control, but his top speed is top class!

Those who are witnessing this move should plan on dodging!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/sonic/sonic_071225d.jpg
Whoa! Hold on!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/sonic/sonic_071225e.jpg
I won’t take it!

If you boost your speed recklessly, you’ll pass by people too quickly, making it easier for them to dodge.

Speed control is important with this Final Smash.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/sonic/sonic_071225f.jpg
And it’s over.

Among the many trophies are some representing the enemies that appear in The Subspace Emissary.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea11/modea11_071226a.jpg
Like this.

But they cannot be acquired easily.

You must turn the enemies directly into trophies to get them! The item you need to do this is a trophy stand.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea11/modea11_071226b.jpg
Basically, it’s the stand the trophy rests on.

When an enemy appears, you need to significantly weaken it.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea11/modea11_071226c.jpg
Pay attention to the damage meter at the top-left corner
of the screen.

If you’re lucky enough to have a trophy stand, throw it at your enemy after you’ve weakened it!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea11/modea11_071226d.jpg
If it goes well...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea11/modea11_071226e.jpg
...it will hit with a thud!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea11/modea11_071226f.jpg
And it becomes a trophy!

Now you get the trophy. Whoa! What’s happened?! You could say this is only possible because of the setting of the Smash world.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea11/modea11_071226g.jpg
You can then view that trophy in your trophy gallery!

Perhaps the trophy descriptions will give you some insight into the back story of The Subspace Emissary...

Of course, you can also do this to get boss trophies.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea11/modea11_071226h.jpg
Yes! I’m definitely gonna get you today!

Since you can’t get these trophies if you don’t have a trophy stand, pure skill is not enough – it requires a little luck, too.

I’ll make it so you’ll somehow be allowed to fight the bosses even after you’ve already cleared the game, so it’s OK if you don’t hunt all these trophies down in the first battle.

In the last game, you dropped the coins you collected into a prize-dispensing machine for a chance to win trophies. That was fine and all, but I got to thinking that there wasn’t really any strategy involved.

So this time, I dropped the crane game. Instead, you’ll be earning your trophies in THIS kind of game!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various20/various20_071227a.jpg
I dub this the Coin Launcher!

I’m gonna have you play every inch of this game!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various20/various20_071227b.jpg
That option on the right is the entrance to the Coin Launcher.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various20/various20_071227c.jpg
That’s the launcher at the bottom.

Tilt left and right to change the angle of the launcher and press the button to roll coins out. Basically, the coins themselves are your bullets.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various20/various20_071227d.jpg
Fire, fire, fire, fire. FIRE!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various20/various20_071227e.jpg
And you got it!

The trophies move, so shoot, shoot, shoot them before they get away. If you land a few shots on a trophy, it will be yours.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various20/various20_071227f.jpg
An enemy formation has appeared!

When you defeat formations of smaller enemies, you earn stickers and bonuses. When your green gauge fills up, it becomes possible to shoot coins rapid-fire for a short time.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various20/various20_071227g.jpg
A missile appeared!

Shoot the missiles down. If a missile strikes, your coin count will decrease!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various20/various20_071227h.jpg
Whaaaaaaa!

Press the Cancel Button to quit. The trophies and stickers you got this time will be displayed.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various20/various20_071227i.jpg
The green ones are trophies. The red ones are stickers.

The more you play the other modes, the more coins you’ll earn for the Coin Launcher. You can even earn them in Spectator mode.

If you want even more coins, your best bet is to invite some friends over to play. The more people you play with, the more coins you’ll earn.

It is said that if you collect all three parts, you will complete the legendary Air Ride machine...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/images/item14/item14_071228b.jpg
There it is! Dragoon Part A!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/images/item14/item14_071228c1.jpg http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/images/item14/item14_071228c2.jpg http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/images/item14/item14_071228c3.jpg

It’s broken into three parts:
Dragoon Part A, the nose cone...
Dragoon Part B, the hull...
and Dragoon Part C, the tail.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/images/item14/item14_071228d.jpg
Gather all three and the Dragoon is formed!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/images/item14/item14_071228e.jpg
Target in sight!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/images/item14/item14_071228f.jpg
FIRE!!!

Of course, given the amount of preparation required, it boasts tremendous firepower! If it strikes you, consider it a one-hit KO.

The battle for this item is hot.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/images/item14/item14_071228g.jpg
When you get one of the Dragoon parts, these icons appear!

Hit an opponent who has one of the Dragoon parts to make them drop it. You also drop the parts when you lose a life. If you want to get a part in hand, then beat up your opponent!

The same can be said for Smash Balls – those, too, are items that everyone really wants badly, so the scramble can be quite funny!

The joy of finally getting all three. Your enemies doing whatever they can to flee. It’s like we’ve added a delicious new spice, so I hope you’ll enjoy it during multiplayer matches.

I have a request for the many people who want to play over Wi-Fi! The first time you play the Wi-Fi modes, please be sure to set the Smash Service to ON.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/wi-fi/images/wi-fi05/wi-fi05_071228a.jpg
Here in the Options...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/wi-fi/images/wi-fi05/wi-fi05_071228b.jpg
...you’ll find "Smash Service".

If you don’t turn this Smash Service on, you won’t receive any data! I ask that you take great care not to forget this step.

Data Sent by Nintendo
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/wi-fi/images/wi-fi05/wi-fi05_071228c.jpg
Choose Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

In order to receive data sent by Nintendo, you need to first choose Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection mode.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/wi-fi/images/wi-fi05/wi-fi05_071228d.jpg
You connect without incident. When you confirm the message...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/wi-fi/images/wi-fi05/wi-fi05_071228e.jpg
..data appears in the applicable mode!

Things that have "Download" written on them were sent by Nintendo.

Now, downloaded data from Nintendo will gradually be overwritten, so there’s no need to worry about your Wii console’s memory running out.

Data Sent by a Friend
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/wi-fi/images/wi-fi05/wi-fi05_071228f.jpg
Whoa. A lot of stuff arrived. Nice.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/wi-fi/images/wi-fi05/wi-fi05_071228g.jpg
When something arrives, you’ll get a message on your Wii Message Board.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/wi-fi/images/wi-fi05/wi-fi05_071228h.jpg
When you start up the game...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/wi-fi/images/wi-fi05/wi-fi05_071228i.jpg
...the data will be in its respective places.

Now, since this data comes from your friends, this is where you have to watch your remaining save memory! If the remaining free space on your Wii System Memory is running low, you won’t be able to receive the data. Move old data to an SD card or erase it.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/wi-fi/images/wi-fi05/wi-fi05_071228j.jpg
You can also send data to multiple friends at once.

It’s difficult to put the joy of being able to exchange snapshots and stages into words. I certainly hope you will all enjoy it.

Gamefaqs has the usual bunch of "insiders" saying so-and-so is in and so-and-so isn't. There is info on the internet from a recent event called JumpFesta or something. Turns out there is a soccor ball from Mario Strikers and sand bag are both items.

Drakul
01-04-2008, 01:29 PM
Heres some of the info gathered from that JumpFesta thing. Contains AT and Item spoilers.

- Pk freeze of Lucas is easier to control than Pk flash from Ness of SSBM
- The soccer ball, when used, will move very fast and flames will appear around it. (kinda like a Super Strike of the Mario Strikers series). the ball cannot be countered or caught in any way. If it is homing still remains unknown.
- The watch (clock?) item will slow down your oponent. how it is activated is not known. The article states that the user can be slowed down by this item too in some rare occasion.
- Kirby's final smash deals about 35% damage to all players
- The mines Snake can bury are not detonated if a player steps on them. The player must press a button to detonate them. Which button must be pressed is still unknown.
- Kirby's attacks seem to deal more damage than they did in SSBM
- Wario seems to be in the top tier, his strength is huge, but he seems to be rather slow. Kinda like Ganondorf of SSBM.
- Pegasus knight of the Fire emblem series is an assist trophy, also the song "The Kingdom of Bern" seems to be in SSBB.
- Rosalina of Super Mario Galaxy is also an assist trophy. She seems to float around and drop starbits, which heal some damage when picked up.
- Regigigas, Metagross, Onix and Garchomp are Pokéball appearances. Metagross seems to use earthquake, Onix seems to use the same he did in SSB64 and Regigigas seems to use Crush grip.
- Pokémon trainer and Pit seem to use voice acting. For example, when a pokémon of the trainer uses an attack, the pokémon trainer would shout something like "take that" or "triple finish".
- Zelda's Din's fire is less powerfull than it was in SSBM

Dive into a ruthless battle with an army of enemy pawns: the Multi-Man Brawl!

Multi-Man Brawl hosts a wealth of different brawls, including the widely recognised 100-man Brawl.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various21/various21_080108a.jpg
This is the Multi-Man Brawl menu.

Speaking of the Multi-Man Brawl, what could the enemy team of fighters be this time around? It’s the Fighting Alloy Team!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various21/various21_080108b.jpg
Red Alloy! He’s not the leader or anything!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various21/various21_080108c.jpg
Blue Alloy! For some reason she seems kind of gentle.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various21/various21_080108d.jpg
Yellow Alloy! These horns are scintillating!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various21/various21_080108e.jpg
Green Alloy! It may look like Kirby, but it’s not him!

If it’s a 100-Man Brawl, then you continue fighting until you’ve beaten 100 of them. Destroying so many really cleanses the spirit.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various21/various21_080108f.jpg
Just keep launching them!

This time, we’ve added a much desired mode...

Two-player Multi-Man Brawls!

Amazing! Co-op play?!

With two of you watching each other’s backs, it’s that much more fun. But that’s not all!

There’s a mode for playing with a friend over Nintendo WFC!

We’ve included online Team Multi-Man Brawl!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various21/various21_080108h.jpg

Grenade Launcher

Snake’s Final Smash is the Grenade Launcher.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/snake/snake_080110a.jpg
What is he calling in...?

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/snake/snake_080110b.jpg
Suddenly he does a great jump!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/snake/snake_080110c.jpg
Choppa-choppa-choppa!

Snake grabs the rope ladder the helicopter drops and takes out his grenade launcher!

So, the thing to do is shoot, right?

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/snake/snake_080110d.jpg
Poom! Poom! Poom!

You control the targeting reticule and press the attack button to fire grenades one at a time. There are six rounds, and when you run out...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/snake/snake_080110e.jpg
...he loads a new clip? How can that be?

It ends when you shoot 12 rounds or run out of time. Snake then climbs back up to return to battle.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/snake/snake_080110f.jpg
Yep. He makes his exit.

It’s probably better to just shoot all your rounds rather than run out of time leaving ammo behind...but if you just shoot indiscriminately, your shots may be dodged.

When there are two or more enemies, it might be a good idea to hit one while he is being attacked by the other, or something along those lines.

Captain Olimar is among the most specialised characters within the cast of Smash Bros. Brawl.

In order to really unleash Olimar’s full potential, you’ve got to have a good knowledge of his helpful cohorts, the Pikmin!

Standard Special Move: Pikmin Pluck
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080111a.jpg
Pluck, pluck, pluck up Pikmin.

First, uproot a few Pikmin from the ground. You can have up to six Pikmin at one time. As long as there is ground beneath your feet, you can reach down and pull up a Pikmin, but be aware that certain Pikmin are more likely to appear in specific types of flooring.

There are 5 types of Pikmin to use!

- Red Pikmin -
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080111b.jpg

High attack power
Attacks imbued with incendiary properties
Immune to fire

- Yellow Pikmin -
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080111c.jpg

Range of attack slightly larger than usual; easy to hit enemies with
Travel in slight arcs when thrown
Attacks imbued with electrical properties

- Blue Pikmin -
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080111d.jpg

Strong when thrown
Slightly more durable than average

- Purple Pikmin -
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080111e.jpg

Doesn’t fly far when thrown
Slow
High attack power
Slams into enemies instead of latching on when thrown

- White Pikmin -
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080111f.jpg

Quick and light
When latched onto opponent, poison does additional damage

You can work out which Pikmin you will attack with next by looking at the order they are lined up in.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080111g.jpg
You’ll use a Red Pikmin in your next attack.

In order to perform a Smash Attack, certain mid-air attacks, and even throws, you’re going to need Pikmin!

Anyhow, just do your best to not kill off your platoon. Olimar doesn’t stand much of a chance by himself.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080111h.jpg
Pikmin don’t have graves, you know.

Side Special Move: Pikmin Throw

Throw Pikmin that latch on to your opponent!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080111i.jpg
They’ll cause an enemy’s damage percentage to slowly rise!

Up Special Move: Pikmin Chain

If you think you’re about to plunge to your doom, this right here is your best chance for survival.

The recovery distance for this technique is dependent upon the number of Pikmin currently in your troop!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080111j.jpg
Just imagine what would’ve happened
if you had had one less Pikmin!

Down Special Move: Pikmin Order

Call back Pikmin who have managed to separate from you. You can also use this technique to shift a new Pikmin to the front of the line.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080111k.jpg
Tweeet! Line up, everyone!

So there you have it. I bet you’re a little confused by his eccentric play style.

But don’t fret! It’s easier than it looks. Spend some time playing around with him. That’s key.

Apparantly Snake and Sonic are unlockables. If they are then do you think anything else we've seen has been an unlockable? I was wanting surprises left for me to discover on my own but I've probably seen everything in the game now without realising it.

They should not even mention Megaman and just put him in the game. When you beat Adventure mode with Snake and Classic mode with sonic you unlock him. That would rule.

I'm positive there's going to be so much more than what they have released. It would just be bad practice otherwise.

.44 Magdalene

With the last two games, they didn't release the unlockable characters until after the game was already out. Dojo hasn't said explicitly yet whether or not Snake and Sonic are secret characters, nor have I seen any other really reliable source put it down for sure.

Chances are good that there's still unlockables o'plenty.

Some Japanese magazine called "Coro Coro" did a big thing about Brawl, some guy translated it and said the magazine said Sonic and Snake where unlockables. Anyway, I'm hoping the Dojo doesn't give away all the unlockables.

.44 Magdalene

This month. By the time we get it 'Stateside, there will probably be no doubt as to who's on the full roster.

There's still no sign of alot of the classic characters--while Pichu, Roy, Marth, Ness, and Dr. Mario are pretty likely to get the boot, I don't really know why they'd abruptly get rid of Luigi, Game & Watch, Jiggs and Captain Falcon.

Especially Captain Falcon, since F-Zero has Assist Trophies in the game already. I keep thinking Falcon might be unlockable if they switched up his appearance dramatically--there's talk of redesigning him for future F-Zero games.

.44 Magdalene
01-12-2008, 01:03 PM
More specifically, it gets released on 1/24 in Japan.

.44 Magdalene
01-12-2008, 01:05 PM
ALSO, the revealing of Snake and Sonic are understandable. Snake was the big hype getter from the very first trailer, and was there to make sure everybody knew third parties are okay now--let it sink in before you get any further, y'know.

Sonic was revealed because--let's face it--if they hadn't, news of the pushed back release date would have started fanboy riots.

NEW INFO:
Pokémon:
Metagross - Definitely uses Earthquake
Onix
Garchomp
Castform
Gardevoir
Regigigas - Starts out slow and gradually turns red, until it uses what they think is Crush Grip
Latias & Latios - One comes out of a ball and calls the other one, then they zoom across the stage

Assist Trophies:
Duster
Rosalina/Rosetta - throws out star pieces for a few seconds, and that if you pick them up, you'll recover health. A Luma comes out with her.
Sothe (SAZA) from Fire Emblem Series - because knives are banned, he attacks with a sumersalt kick instead
Lakitu (JUGEMU)
Group of Pegasus Knights from Fire Emblem Series - "they attack in a group or something, with a Falcon Knight"
Jill Dozer ("drill girl with pink hair" but no doubt there)
Birdo — Shoots eggs at an opponent. Pretty standard Assist Trophy. Oh, and he's fully rendered; it's not a 2D sprite like the Melee stage hazard. (needs confirmation)
Tingle — Like the Nintendog or Mr. Resetti, Tingle doesn't inflinct any actual damage; he just stands there and does a little dance while shouting "Tingle-Tingle, Kooloo-Limpah," then disappears. I like to think of him as the Goldeen of the Assist Trophies. (needs confirmation)
Raiden — I'm not a big fan of the Metal Gear Solid series, but I think this is Raiden (he's the guy with the white hair, right?) He just attacks with a sword before disappearing. Didn't seem very interesting to me. (needs confirmation)

Character Specific:
Pokemon Trainer speaks for his Final Smash (meaning VO)
Pit speaks for his Final Smash (meaning VO)
Snake's Mine is remotely triggered not proximity based and damage ranges from 10% to 20%
Fox is unable to move when he shoots his blaster in the air (may be referring to being able to turn around with your neutral B in the air maybe)
Kirby is stronger than he was in Melee
- up air is weaker
- Kirby's new "Yo-yo dash" is mentioned, but they say he doesn't use "yo-yos" as one would expect. It's called "Break Spin" and it's from Kirby Super Star.) See it here: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/26661.html at 1:38 & 1:42. Via Wikia: A break-dance style spin to stun the enemy directly
- Can no longer escape from his back throw anymore.
- His final smash not only sucks in enemies, but it sucks in nearby items as well. And when there are alot of the a single item that are sucked in, they can come out as the same item don't quite understand what he's saying here
-He was able to swallow some of the items and gain abilities from them. "The only item I got to see him suck up was the Fire Flower, which enabled Kirby to spit fire out (pretty identical to his Bowser hat in Melee)." Not all items can be swallowed for special abilities, though. (needs confirmation)
Yoshi's Final Smash Fireballs EACH pack 25% of damage
Wario's standard special move is a "Bite"; with it, you can "eat" an opponent and spit them out by pressing the special move button again (similar to Yoshi's Egg Lay). You can "eat" projectiles... if you eat a projectile without pressing the special move button again, Wario will eventually absorb it and recover a bit of health. You can also press the special move button to spit the projectile back out at your opponent. (needs confirmation)

Items:
Timer/Clock - Slows your opponents down, but it will sometimes flub like the hammer, and if that happens, YOU will slow down instead. So it's like grabbing "dynamite"!
Soccer Ball - Cannot be countered or caught and it turns into fire when you kick it.
Sandbag - When you beat him up other items come out

Music:
BGM siege warfare, "the theme of Fire" and the fiery "Bern superpower" (placeholder, will correct to real english)
Zelda's "Great Bay" song from Melee is selectable
Brinstar BGM, Samus's Theme, and the Metroid Ending Theme were selectable on Norfair
Two songs titled "Athletic" and "Ending BGM" were selectable on the Yoshi's Island stage

Stages:
WarioWare Stage - It seems if you "pass" a mini-game, you heal a little bit
WarioWare stage includes over 8 minigames, including Appeal!, Destroy!, Shave!, Cracker/Clacker! (?), Stay Dry!, Dodge!, Jump! & Don't Move!

Misc:
Apparently, the lv.9 CPUs are still weak

"And before anybody attacks regarding Snake; no, he wasn't playable. There were several videos featured at Jump Festa and Snake was on one of them fighting Link. That's how some of his attack percentages were seen."

Translations:

From the main thread on sumabura-x.com for JumpFesta. Here's a breakdown of the posts. All are from WeeklyJumpMan

Quote:
1-20: Alot of talking about things they want to see at Jump Festa and the like.

21-31: They talk about Wario & Kirby replacing Sonic & DK at the event.

32-75: (Latias & Latios are Poke Ball Pokemon), (it seems that on the WarioWare level, if you "pass" a mini-game, you heal a little bit), (Wario has his Wario Land clothes and Meta Knight has a "Kirby" color), (Animal Crossing Main Theme, Balloon Fight's Balloon Trip music, and WarioWare Main Theme are present), (when you start a match, the BGM title is displayed), (Wario-Man's bike is so fast, it's easy to take yourself out), (Wario is slow and strong), (you can now swim), (Sandbag is an item, and when you beat him up other items come out), (Pit & Pokemon Trainer talk in Japanese in the Japanese version).

76-130: (Link's Final Smash deals 67%, Ike's does 70%.), (Mario's tornado attack is his air A-down.), (Rosalina, Duster, and Sothe are Assists), (Onix, Garchomp, and Castform are Poke Balls, but the user states he's not 100% positive about this), (Poke Ball Gardevoir and Metagross are confirmed. Metagross uses "Earthquake"), (Yoshi's Final Smash Fireballs each pack 25% of damage.) (The WarioWare stage includes over 8 minigames, including "Don't Move"), (Kirby's new "Yo-yo dash" is mentioned, but they say he doesn't use "yo-yos" as one would expect. It's called "Gazer Spiral"(?) and it's from Kirby Super Star.), (Zelda's "Great Bay" song from Melee is selectable).

131-190: (Apparently, the lv.9 CPUs are still weak), (Snake's remote mine damage ranges from 10%-20%), (Brawl is slower than Melee, but smoother), (Poke Ball Regigigas is mentioned and his attack is "Crush Claw"), (Several posters state that Bowser and Kirby are far superior to their Melee versions).

190-230: (Brinstar BGM, Samus's Theme, and the Metroid Ending Theme were selectable on Norfair), (Two songs titled "Athletic" and "Ending BGM" were selectable on the Yoshi's Island stage), (Characters feel "balanced"), (Diddy's a "speed" character).

231-273: Just character discussion like "Fox is weaker", "Diddy's amazing", etc.

And before anybody attacks regarding Snake; no, he wasn't playable. There were several videos featured at Jump Festa and Snake was on one of them fighting Link. That's how some of his attack percentages were seen.

Be aware that these Japanese posters are still susceptible to "speculation" and maybe even a "little white lie" every now and then. Just like us Americans.

I'm not 100% positive about that WarioWare stage healing gimick... but we'll see...

Quote:
OK, found something. Someone on there claims that Metagross, Onix, Garchomp, Castform, and Gardevoir are in balls (we knew Gardevoir already of course). They further say that Metagross hovers above the ground and stabs it, causing an earthquake.

This person also reports Duster, Rosetta (Rosalina), and Sothe as ATs (as well as Lakitu and Samurai Goroh) and that Sandbag-kun is an item.

Quote:
Oh, there's more in the comments, no wonder I missed it.

One person claims Regigigas, Metagross, and Garchomp are in balls. They say Regigigas starts out slow and gradually turns red, until it uses what they think is Crush Grip. They also say that Metagross definitely uses Earthquake.

Quote:
One person says "Latias appears (calls Latios)". I'm not sure what that means. I guess maybe that they're the same ball summon, and that Latias appears first, who calls Latios to come in too? Could explain why they do the same attack.

Also says that Pokemon Trainer and Pit say something with their final smashes, so I guess PT has a VA after all. On the other site, I believe they said PT says Ikuzo! Sanmittai! which, if the English version uses the same as the English site does, will be "Take that! Triple Finish!"

They also say Wario's techniques are slow to come out, but he's powerful.

Mario's tornado is now down air.

On December 27th, 2007 the Japan-Only Everybody's Nintendo Wii Channel posted up two new videos (not Brawl specific).
This is one of them: http://www.revver.com/video/588006/e...trailer-dec27/
It contains only about 8 seconds of Brawl footage which I believe is just recycled.

[b]This is unconfirmed information but probably true. We need somebody on the Japanese forums to confirm this:

Quote:
Birdo — Shoots eggs at an opponent. Pretty standard Assist Trophy. Oh, and he's fully rendered; it's not a 2D sprite like the Melee stage hazard.

Raiden — I'm not a big fan of the Metal Gear Solid series, but I think this is Raiden (he's the guy with the white hair, right?) He just attacks with a sword before disappearing. Didn't seem very interesting to me.

Anyway, those are all of the new ATs I've seen. A friend at the event claimed to have seen Kumatora and Duster from MOTHER 3, but take that as you will. I'll vouche for his credibility, though.

As for Poké Balls... to be honest, I never cared for Pokémon, so I had NO idea who most of them were. I recognized a lot from Melee, and saw some from the site, as well as a few new ones. I can't name any of them, but rest assured, I know who Lucario is, and I didn't see him in a Poké Ball.

There were a couple items that weren't on the site, but I'm pretty sure they've been mentioned. I'll describe them anyway:

Deku Nut — Just throw this at an opponent and they'll be stunned for a few seconds.

"WARIO IMPRESSIONS

I can't say much about Wario since I've only played as him once. I did notice, however, that his "classic" costume wasn't available in the demo. The DOJO!! update actually came as a surprise to me since I didn't expect costumes to be left out of the demo.

I immediately noticed that his animation has been fixed. His movement is no longer choppy, as seen in some of the older video footage. There are still some 'quirks' to certain animations, but they're definitely more manageable than the original frame (or lack thereof) issue. He's pretty slow and sluggish, but really powerful. He was enjoyable in the two minutes I spent playing as him. His standard special move is a "Bite"; with it, you can "eat" an opponent and spit them out by pressing the special move button again (reminds me of Yoshi's Egg Lay). What's most interesting is that I was able to "eat" projectiles... if you eat a projectile without pressing the special move button again, Wario will eventually absorb it and recover a bit of health. You can also press the special move button to spit the projectile back out at your opponent. Really versatile move. His up special move, which I don't know the name of, is some sort of spinny-cyclone jump attack. I've never played any of Wario's games, so I'm not sure what this is from, but it's fairly standard. Reminds me of a slower Mario Tornado... sort of.

KIRBY IMPRESSIONS

I didn't actually get the chance to use Kirby, as I don't much care for his games, but I've had the opportunity to watch other people use him.

He appeared to play the same as he did in Melee, but I noticed that he was able to swallow some of the items and gain abilities from them. The only item I got to see him suck up was the Fire Flower, which enabled Kirby to spit fire out (pretty identical to his Bowser hat in Melee). I was told that not all items can be swallowed for special abilities, though. "

Trophies, stickers, music...

Super Smash Bros. Brawl certainly has its share of rewards for you to collect. Among them all are several for which I’ve set certain appearance conditions.

So, to help you manage these performance-based rewards, I’ve created the Challenges mode. This mode gives you hints about what you need to do to unlock these items!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various22/various22_080114a.jpg
This is the Challenges screen.

It’s totally empty. I’d say that if anyone saw this empty screen in-game, it would be an extremely rare occurrence.

Each one of these windows has some condition or other that will unlock it.

When you meet a set of conditions while playing through the game, its window will automatically break open.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various22/various22_080114b.jpg
KSSSSHHH! Then you get what’s inside!

If there’s a CD inside, you can listen to that CD on the spot.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various22/various22_080114c.jpg
Hmmm... Nice.

When a window breaks, you’ll see a red silhouette of the windows on either side. When you align the cursor with these windows, you can see the conditions for breaking them open, too.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various22/various22_080114d.jpg
As you can see...

Use this to take on challenge after challenge so you can earn more, more, MORE prizes! It’s much easier to get excited about it when you know what you have to do.

By the way, you can use as many Golden Hammers as there are down below.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various22/various22_080114e.jpg
Even windows that aren’t open...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various22/various22_080114f.jpg
...can be broken open with a little force!

But use the hammers at your own discretion. Once used, a hammer will never return. You’ll want to save them for challenges you just can’t seem to overcome.

Oh, but you should also know that there are some windows even a trusty Golden Hammer won’t break.

And be careful of friends who might egg you on. I mean, imagine you have a hammer, some pristine glass, and a friend who just keeps telling you to break the glass...

It makes you want to break it, huh?

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/stages/images/stage22/stage22_080115a.jpg
The flooring in the middle of the stage is made of vines and is very bouncy.

As you play, you’ll see numbered Pellets fall from the Pellet Posies around the stage. Grab one of these and throw it into a nearby Onion to get items.

Here’s a Pellet and an Onion.

Also, this planet experiences frequent torrential downpours. When things get wet, you’ll want to stay away from the hill on the left, as it gets pretty treacherous.

Oh yeah – there are some fierce creatures prowling the area, so watch your step.

......What am I saying? Of course it’s not safe! Anyway, take care that you don’t get gobbled up.

I deeply apologize to the people who have looked forward to playing the game for so long and ask that you hold on just a little longer. Thank you for your patience.

I'm not sure why he has delayed it again. Maybe he wanted to have a worldwide release so he's delaying it until the PAL version is done (I think Japans release was delayed for a week or two aswell). It's probably just a shipping problem though.
After the delay was announce his wikipedia page was vandelised with a bunch of stupid things like him being killed by angry fans etc.
GameFAQS poster seemed to take the delay very personally :wtf:.

Use Zelda’s down special move to transform into Sheik! Once you do so, you’ll have access to a completely different character.

Sheik doesn’t appear in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, but we based her model on a design that was drafted up during the development of that game.

They have update every characters profile page with a list of their specials and their Final Smash.

So they have let us know the name of Olimars Final Smash. It's called "End of Day".

edit - The Japanese magazine "Famitsu" reviewed Brawl and gave it 40/40. Making Brawl only the 8th game to ever get a full score from them. Apparantly, Famitsu is a pretty important magazine in Japan.

End of Day

Captain Olimar always makes sure to return to his spaceship before nightfall when he’s out exploring new planets. Why is that?

That’s because night-time on these planets is absolutely teeming with scaaary wild beasts! To avoid an encounter with those creatures, Olimar takes to the safety of space during the night.

So how could we represent this idea in Brawl...?

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080117a.jpg
First things first. Get that Smash Ball!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080117b.jpg
There’s Olimar’s ship!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080117c.jpg
Blast off! The ship soars higher and higher into the stratosphere.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080117d.jpg
Stars fill the sky above.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080117e.jpg
Wild beasts everywhere! Aaaah!

Characters left behind on the ground take lots and lots of damage.

But dishing out damage alone won’t score you points. The more people in the brawl, the more damage you can expect this attack to do, but beware – another opponent may steal the KO you’ve worked so hard to set up.

In a one-on-one match, this Final Smash won’t deal as much damage, but hey, there’s no worry that someone else will steal your KO, either.

I guess you could call this balancing the gameplay, huh?

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080117f.jpg
The ship comes crashing back to the battlefield
with a huge explosion! Maybe, if you’re lucky,
you’ll catch someone in the blast?

Your battle against the Subspace Emissary will be one of epic fury. Naturally, you’re going to want to do everything you can to strengthen each character for the fight ahead.

And that’s where stickers come into the picture!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea12/modea12_080118a.jpg
These should do the trick.

Did you think those stickers were just for collecting?

Well, it seems you thought wrong! The truth is startling, huh?

Each sticker houses a special power-up. For example, some will up your attack power, others bolster the damage from fire-based attacks, and some even keep you from flying as far when you take a hit.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea12/modea12_080118b.jpg
You can find the details of each sticker’s power-up ability here.

On the Map screen, select the Sticker option to move to the sticker-application screen. You can switch between characters with the L and R Buttons.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea12/modea12_080118c.jpg
Here’s a shot of the underside of a trophy base.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea12/modea12_080118d.jpg
Now slap down one of the sticky stickers you’ve collected.

Generally speaking, the bigger the sticker, the more dramatic the power up.

The more stickers you put on a trophy base, the more powerful that character becomes, but you’ll need to consider your placement and sticker choices carefully as space is limited.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea12/modea12_080118e.jpg
Fill in those bare spots with little stickers...

Leave no space unused!

When two stickers offering a similar power-up are placed on a trophy base, only the more potent of the two power-ups will take effect.

So, for example, if you had [Leg] Attack +4 and [Leg] Attack +6 stickers on the same trophy base, the added [Leg] Attack bonus wouldn’t be +10, it’d simply be treated as if you’d only put down the +6 sticker.

You should always remember to maintain balance in your sticker selections.

Also, some stickers can only be placed on certain characters. Stickers whose range of usage is limited in this fashion are proportionally stronger when placed appropriately. Do your best to find a good place for each sticker.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea12/modea12_080118f.jpg
If you find placing down stickers yourself too much of a bother, just let the game do it for you by selecting Random.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea12/modea12_080118g.jpg
Once you’re ready, apply all the stickers at once!

You can adjust the position of stickers until you choose to apply them, but you can’t place stickers on top of each other, so you’ll occasionally need to remove old stickers to make space for new ones.

Once you peel off a sticker you applied, you lose it for good! So take care when you lay down your stickers.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea12/modea12_080118h.jpg
Stickers applied to a trophy base take on a grey tint.

Also, for some reason, you’re able to readjust the position of an applied sticker on its trophy base.

So while removed stickers are gone forever, you’ll be getting stickers left and right as you play – you’ll probably find that sticker you lost again. And, if you only use stickers you have doubles of, you’ll never lose one from your collection.

Plus, as I’ve said before, the higher you set the difficulty in The Subspace Emissary, the better your chance of running across rare stickers.

Going back to a previously-completed stage and cranking the difficulty up for a second run is a good way to round out your sticker collection.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea12/modea12_080118i.jpg
If you retry a beaten stage, you can adjust the difficulty level.

But if you should die and find yourself at the game over screen, be prepared to lose half the stickers you collected.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/images/modea12/modea12_080118j.jpg
Nooo! What a waste of good stickers!

Finally, remember that stickers are only of use within The Subspace Emissary. Sorry to say it, but they’ll be of no use to you in standard brawls.

Someone that's good at maths from another forum said, judging by the "3% clear" in the top right part of the second last screenshot in todays up, there is probably around about 33 level in Adventure mode.
I don't know how he figured it out because I'm useless at maths but I pointed out that maybe the 3% clear actually means just the level that is highlighted is 3% clear. Maybe by collecting stickers, trophies and defeating enemies in that level, the precentage for the level goes up.

Either way SSE is going to be pretty long considering it was said it would take roughly 10 hours to go through. Although, they always exagerate the time. Remember they said Twilight Princess would take about 60 hours and almost everyone did it in about 11-15 hours.

Light Arrow

In the final battles of many of the games in The Legend of Zelda series, you didn’t want to be low on arrows. A lot of times they were Silver Arrows, though...

Zelda’s ace in the hole is the magical Light Arrow, which you can use even as Sheik.

Fire! A beam of light pierces your enemy.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/zelda/zelda_080121d.jpg
Your enemy is blown away by a tremendous force!

When you’re using Sheik, some of the characteristics of the attack will change, like the direction your opponent gets knocked in.

It’s good to use the character whose attack is best suited to the cover on each stage, but you probably shouldn’t worry TOO much about that.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/zelda/zelda_080121e.jpg
After all, once they’re hit, they’re pretty much done for.

If you’re just playing one-on-one though, the Light Arrow might be easy to dodge. Try to create a situation where you have a good shot.

Apparently, Nintendo edited out alot of the original videos.

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pfb2l-iYlRo&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pfb2l-iYlRo&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

If you believe this whole mess--and it's the Smash Brothers community, so I'm not entirely positive that I do yet--then that video right there is the original. When it shows the sticker album at 4:20 and 4:21, and different stickers are highlighted, you can distinctly see tiny face icons in the white bar beneath the book. These faces are supposed to represent characters that the stickers are attached to.

Again, it's Smash Bros fans, who are notorious for faking and/or misinterpreting shit like this.

If you buy the whole story, though, then the face icons for Jiggs, Ness, and Lucario are visibe. The YouTube's so fucking blurry that I can't tell jack from jack shit, but I guess I'll take everyone's word for it.

.44 Magdalene

On second glance, the Ness and Jiggs faces are very, very distinct. Especially Jiggs. I wouldn't be surprised if that were someone's face besides Ness's, but that's 100% Jigglypuff right there. The Lucario, I'm still not too sure about.

Again, that's assuming this is totally legit. The "Nintendo edited out the videos real fast" story is hilarious, whether it's true or not.

Ah, the Mushroom Kingdom. Most Smash players will recognise this place from previous games in the series, where the world was represented in a pixel-art style reminiscent of the original Super Mario Bros.

But why the "y" on the end of "Mushroom"? What’s the difference?

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/stages/images/stage23/stage23_080123a.jpg
Oh, so that’s why!

This time around, we’ve designed a stage that recreates the layout of World 1-1 in Super Mario Bros. – but with rich backgrounds added to the mix.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/stages/images/stage23/stage23_080123b.jpg
The stage scrolls forward at a leisurely pace.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/stages/images/stage23/stage23_080123c.jpg
Pieces of familiar scenery scroll by.

The kingdom you once knew has turned to ruins over the long years, and it is now your battlefield.

You’ll get to enjoy a wide range of familiar structures. Also, since the stage slowly scrolls sideways, battles here will require you to come up with a very different strategy for winning.

Oh, and when you select this stage, it will occasionally load an alternate underground stage!

Obligatory short, blurry video of roster (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VxrQiCz4_o)

What I keep getting told is that that's bullshit. Apparently, some kid with a website claims to have gotten a pre-release copy of the game...

I could have heard wrong, but that's what I heard. Again, I'm skeptical of anything and everything not on Dojo because goddammit, the Smash fanbase keeps making shit up and Photoshopping shit and etc. Even with the video, that could very definitely be fake.

And if you're wondering why I think it's bullshit--not counting the fact that it looks like Bigfoot footage--is this: look at the roster pictures. They're identical to the pictures on Dojo. :| Like they were just cut and paste into tiny squares.

I heard queensaki (the person that uploaded the video to YouTube) was the creator of some incredibly popular Smash Bros tournement in Japan and got the game a few days early. I don't know why that would entitle him/her to an early disc though.
I don't understand why SB fans fake stuff but I'm inclined to blame GameFAQS.

While it’s true you can battle over Wi-Fi, your connection environment and the distance between players can cause great changes in speed. That fact would probably make you a little uneasy.

So, we conducted an online battle between Nintendo’s headquarters in Kyoto and the development team in Tokyo. The distance between Kyoto and Tokyo is about 500km, or 310 miles.

Here’s the video of that match.

Well, what do we have here...?

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various23/various23_080125a.jpg
Yes, that’s Super Mario Bros.

Several memorable characters compete for brawl supremacy – that’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl in a nutshell.

But what about the past fights for each of those characters? What were they like?

It may sound impossible, but you can experience those battles in Brawl as well!

That’s right, for the first time ever, you can play trial versions of these games by the miracle of Virtual Console!

That’s what Masterpieces is! Here you can relive the greatest battles of the biggest star characters through demo versions of their games.

Here are some of the titles you can expect to see available in Brawl. Crazy, isn’t it?!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various23/various23_080125b.jpg

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various23/various23_080125e.jpg
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/images/icon/world_w_18.gif Kid Icarus (1987, NES)

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various23/various23_080125f.jpg
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/images/icon/world_w_04.gif Kirby’s Adventure (1993, NES)

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various23/various23_080125h.jpg

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/images/icon/world_w_03.gif Lylat Wars (1997, Nintendo 64)

Whoaaa. Makes my head spin just seeing all those. You won’t need to be connected to Nintendo WFC to play these games.

Just remember, there are some NES classics in there as demos, so expect some of the time limits on those games to be so short that all you can do is laugh at how hard they are.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various23/various23_080125k.jpg
I’m almost...at the top!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various23/various23_080125l.jpg
Ahaha! Oh man, out of time already?!

That’s what a good demo is all about. It gives you just enough to let you appreciate the game. Plus it’s a lot of fun to see just how far you can go before the little time that you have runs out.

If you take a liking to one of the trial versions, you can always buy the full game through the Shop Channel! You might even find a couple of titles that divert your attention from Brawl for a while.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/various/images/various23/various23_080125m.jpg
Some titles come with save data.

But hmm, it seems there are still titles hiding in the Masterpieces section.

Titles?! What games don’t I know about?! That discovery is part of the fun, isn’t it?

Masterpieces are called masterpieces for a good reason, and each of the well-loved characters here come from a past that is worthy of that title.

To end, I’d like to take this opportunity to send my thanks to all the game creators and affiliated parties who helped in making this possible.

Chronicle

This bonus feature lets you peruse Nintendo’s library of past titles. Missing titles in your Chronicle will gradually fill in as you obtain stickers and other things related to those games. (However, there are some titles that will not be displayed until the very end.)

Mm hmm... ...This is just nuts.

How on earth did we squeeze all these modes in here? I’ve clearly gone overboard with Brawl.

But still, it’s not like I want everyone to play through every single portion of the game. I think I’d rather you played small portions of the areas you find interesting a little at a time.

Whether you choose to go solo or play with friends, you’re covered, because Brawl is about playing the way you want to play.

In Brawl there are many ways to add music to your collection, from picking up CDs to unlocking secret songs. However, the number of tracks you can access from the first time you boot up is also quite impressive!

Therefore, I thought I’d go ahead and post a list of songs available from day one.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/images/common/arrow.gifFirst Songs in My Music (http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/music/music22_list.html)

Look at all those songs. Look at those big names...

Just think, that big list of songs is going to do nothing but grow as you pick up CDs and unlock additional melodies.

Man, having all this great music in Brawl is such an honour!

Brawl is what some might call the standard mode for the Smash series. There’s quite a bit to do on the character-selection screen, so I’d like to give you a quick rundown of what you can expect to find there!
There’s no need to memorize all this, though. Uh-uh.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130a.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130a-l.jpg)
Behold, the character-selection screen!

<Choosing a Character>
Move your little hand-shaped cursor around the screen and drop your token on a space of your choosing to select a character.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130b.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130b-l.jpg)
First you grab it, then you place it down.

<Changing Your Character’s Colors>
Tap your selected character to change his or her outfit.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130c.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130c-l.jpg)
Now that’s styling!
On this screen, you can also select which character you start a match as when playing Pokémon Trainer or Zelda/Sheik.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130d.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130d-l.jpg)
Just give the character of your choice a tap and you’re good to go.
For those times when you don’t care who you play, you can let the game decide by placing your token on the Random space. This time, unlike in Melee, you won’t know who you’re going to play as until the match starts.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130e.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130e-l.jpg)
Today I feel like playing Random.

<Name Entry>
Tap on the area marked with a pencil icon below a player’s selected character to select and enter a name for that player.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130f.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130f-l.jpg)
You can also register new names right from the character-selection screen.

<Fighting Computer-Controlled (CPU) Players>
Tap on the area marked with a player’s number (ie. Player 1) or name to exclude that player from the fight or switch that fighter over to a computer-controlled player.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130g.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130g-l.jpg)
All panels for CPU characters are grey!
You can adjust the difficulty of CPU players by tapping on the area where you’d normally tap to select player names.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130h.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130h-l.jpg)
This time around, raising the difficulty level for CPU players will put you up against some pretty fierce competition.

<Changing the Rules>
Access the rules menu by tapping on the area with "2-minute KO fest!" written into it.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130i.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130i-l.jpg)
Tap right here.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130j.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130j-l.jpg)
Switch the rules to a Stock match and it looks like this.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130k.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130k-l.jpg)
And here’s where you can adjust item settings.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130l.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130l-l.jpg)
You can adjust the match length for Time brawls from here as well.

<Setting a Handicap>
If you turn on Handicaps in the rules area, you can set it from the character-selection screen.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130m.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/images/various25/various25_080130m-l.jpg)

Tap on the area marked Brawl in the upper-left portion of the screen to switch play to Team Battle. The most common form of Team Battle is 2 on 2.

Tap on the flag in the upper-left area of the box to change your team assignment.
When everyone has finished making their selections, those famous words "READY TO FIGHT!" will appear on screen. Once you see those words, press the button on your controller that functions as "Start" or tap the words themselves to move to the stage-selection screen.

Here’s that stage-selection screen.
I’m sure you see that icon marked Melee Stages down at the bottom of the screen, don’t you? Tap here to access several Melee stages (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/stage18.html) for your playing pleasure.

I couldn’t quite get every stage into Brawl...
But there’s more! There’s a switch at the bottom here marked Custom Stages. Tap on this to access the custom stages you made in the Stage Builder (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/various10.html).
So many situations are possible when you try combining various configurations of characters, stages, items, and individual rule settings. I’m hoping you make full use of these choices and have a lot of fun.

Yeah, sorry I didn't post the update. I thought with the update being pretty useless and with the amount of spoilers flying around, you guys wouldn't be interested.

January 31st, 2008. Super Smash Bros. Brawl has officially gone on sale in Japan. Is everybody having fun with it?

However, Smash won’t come out in North America for a bit and sadly, Europe has an even longer wait until the game releases.

For the past eight months or so, Smash Dojo has served as a source of basic information for the game, but with the release of Brawl, the Dojo will take on a new role.

From here on out, the Dojo will begin to introduce the hidden characters, hidden stages, and additional features in Brawl that have gone unmentioned until now. I’d like to continue to add on to the Dojo so that players of Brawl can come back to this website following it’s completion and view Smash Dojo as a sort of guide for the game.

I plan on continuing updates for another two months, so please continue to enjoy the site.

Just remember, I’ll be posting information on hidden characters and other in-game secrets, so you should take caution when viewing the site if you want to save those surprises for later.

----------------

I think I'll be avoiding the Dojo until March.

Spoilers in black.

Wolf O'Donnel is hellaconfirmed. I could dig up YouTubes if people doubt it. Wolf, Fox, and Falco have roughly the same moves, but they're heavily Luigified; for instance, Falco can do his reflector in the air and actually throws it. Wolf's forward special has shorter distance and goes at a bit of an angle. Also, his blasts are larger and fire more slowly, but have fatty stun. He's more of a one-hard-hit kinda character.

Same with Ness and Lucas. Same general moves, but they act quite differently from each other. Ness is up on Dojo now if you're curious.

Windwaker Link is the same as Link, but his animations are Windwaker-esque (his bombs have a dotted line trail when you throw them, etc). His level is a boat that looks rather fun to fight on.

Ganondorf's final smash is turning into Ganon. His moves are very similar to Falcon's, but they did get mixed up a bit--instead of a dashing punch, he grabs the opponent, then explodes them out of his hand. His up special no longer has a flip after the grab/explosion. His down special is much more floaty; if you do on the ground, he just sorta glides forward with the kick.

You pretty much just made him writing in black pretty moot.

I'd already mentioned Star Wolf being in twice before hand, so that being in black itself was pretty moot.

Port Town Aero Dive is the huge track that appears in F-Zero GX/AX.
The main platform for this stage zooms along the track, stopping randomly in several locations, each of which has its own unique terrain.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/images/stage24/stage24_080204a.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/images/stage24/stage24_080204a-l.jpg)
You start here.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/images/stage24/stage24_080204b.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/images/stage24/stage24_080204b-l.jpg)
Hop on the platform as it whizzes around the track.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/images/stage24/stage24_080204c.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/images/stage24/stage24_080204c-l.jpg)
The platform will randomly stop off in one of many locations.
Since this is a rather daring course, the configuration of the terrain in each location within it is appropriately treacherous. Expect lots of steep slopes and ups and downs.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/images/stage24/stage24_080204d.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/images/stage24/stage24_080204d-l.jpg)
We’ve even included that famous stepped portion of the track.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/images/stage24/stage24_080204e.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/images/stage24/stage24_080204e-l.jpg)
Th-there’s a wall in the middle of the course?!
Sometimes the platform will even separate completely from the track. When it does, you’re in store for some really great views of the course.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/images/stage24/stage24_080204f.jpg (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/images/stage24/stage24_080204f-l.jpg)
The track looks so 3-D from up here.
Boy, all this talk of angles and curves gets me in the mood to watch a neck-and-neck race. Guess I’ll have to settle for a lightning-fast round of Smash.

So it looks like, that in the Japanese version they can play as “Purin” (who, judging by the pink ball of fur with the big blue-green eyes in the pic, looks to be none other than the Pokémon we in America know as Jigglypuff), whereas it looks like in the character select screen in the screenshots of what is so far in the USA version, we will no longer have the option to play as Jigglypuff. Not a huge loss, but still, it was in both previous games that came out stateside...Oh, well at least G&W is in there...Now they have no excuse to avoid putting in some kind of G&W stage in the game...please, Nintendo, make it so! I remember in Melee, his stage was one of the ones I enjoyed the most intensely.

What the fuck are you talking about?

Jigglypuff's in and is probably the first secret character, like she is in every game thus far. Footage of her Final Smash and shit is floating around. There wouldn't be a reason to exclude her specifically from the American version.
