So then its agreed? BS Call?

Basically. When you have a Laker fan calling it questionable, you can mark it down as a BS call. ;)

Charlie Walters, a columnist for the Pioneer Press, once again pulled some information out of his ass. In his column it reads:

Trade Rumor: Ricky Davis as part of a package to the 76ers for Allen Iverson.

It would be sweet if it was true, so I did some research on the NBA Trade Machine on ESPN.com. The Wolves could get rid of their two worst salaries (Troy Hudson and Mark Blount) as well as Davis (who I like, but would rather have AI) for Allen Iverson and Michael Bradley (whoever that is).

Anyway, far fetched, the Sixers would have to be retarded to do it, but a man can dream.

Rip Hamilton played out of his head tonight. Forty points in 36 minutes.

Every Piston except Lindsey Hunter and Dale Davis scored (Hunter had 7 assists and Davis had a couple of rebounds).

That's how you close out a series. Bring on the Wizards!

Yeah, I saw the foul for the first time tonight, it was real bad. They were debating whether it was sensationalized because it was Kobe, but I would argue the other way around. If they are going to suspend the other guys that they have, they needed to do it again there.

SecretDesire

Um, Nash clearly said timeout and it looked as if the ref was looking right at him. And if not that, then that should have been a foul rather than a jump ball. The steal and the shot to go into OT was clean and sick though.

I dunno, maybe I'm a little biased? Someone who isn't a Lakers/Suns fan answer that for me.

That isnt biased...Fact is Fact. Nash called for a TO and that blind ref didnt wanna to acknowlegde it. But Im gonna but that behind me now because Game 7 is gonna be the ultimate test! But its in Pnx so ;) In all honesty the PNX Suns deserve to win this series. For those Laker fans, all you have is Kobe. That was proven Game 6. A 50 pt game and stilll a lost! They have some growing up to do.

SammyG
05-06-2006, 05:18 AM
Take a look at every game before Game 6. The Lakers were playing great team basketball, the regular season was just Kobe, but the playoffs are a different story. Although I don't have much hope for game 7, I still think there is a chance. Also, its PHX, not PNX.

SammyG
05-06-2006, 04:38 PM

Only way Cleveland wins a game in this series is if the refs let Anderson Varejao spend the rest of the way with his hand up through the rim.
Can you imagine if Flip had left the starters in another couple of minutes? They could have won that game by fifty!

I was hoping to see Detroit/Washington, because I wanted the Pistons to get some revenge for the Wiz sweeping the season series. But I guess I'll just have to be content with them sweeping the Cavs.

Detroit over Cleveland in 4.
New Jersey over Miami in 7.
San Antonio over Dallas in 6.

I just think the Suns have too many weapons. They can give up 100 points a night, because they can score 125.

I'm a Clippers fan (particularly Kaman - who went to my alma mater), but I actually think the Suns will make the NBA Finals. San Antonio and Dallas will beat the hell out of each other for seven games, and Nash & Co. will pick up the pieces.

RP
05-08-2006, 04:46 PM
Heres the thing though. In the Lakers series the Lakers were killing the Suns by pounding the ball inside and slowing the game down. They were doing this with Kwame Brown and Brian Cook or something. It worked. That mixes with Odom and Walton slashing worked. The Clippers can do this with two of the best players in the league. Kaman and Brand. And they have slashers and great passers. I think the Suns were exposed.

loopydate
05-08-2006, 04:58 PM
You're right about that. If the Clips win, that's exactly how they'll do it.

Donnie Walsh and thats about it. Not on player on the team would dare speak against Bird. Yeah, they were also beat in the LA series. And they were supposed to get beat by the Clippers. And they had no chance to do what they did in the regular season without there "most talented player". ETC. ETC.

Ninti the Mad

I dont think the Suns stand a chance against Dallas the way they have been playing lately.

I think the brackets this year for the playoffs are a little lopsided.

I hate the fact that since Dallas and Spurs are in the same division, one of them gets bumped to 4th. That is BS. Spurs/Mavericks should be a western finals matchup.

Whoever wins this series is going to have a much easier time with Suns/Clippers because of the intensity of the matchup.

Suns vs Lakers... Noone was really expecting Lakers to do as well as they did but they arent really a top calibur team to begin with. I thought both teams did mediocre and of course they are going to look brilliant making shots back and forth. Thats what happens when they lack defense. Guess what? Clippers arent gonna offer much defensive resistence either. The winner is going to come in and get cornered with such an absolute 360 in defensive intensity that they will choke while I believe /Spurs/Mavericks will get even more higher percentage shots.

I am interested in how Detroit will handle a top calibur team in Miami/NJ although I believe NJ is the only one of the two who I think can take out Detroit.

Just my take. The Suns wont be prepared for the defensive change.

loopydate
05-13-2006, 10:20 PM
The Pistons played terribly tonight. They were really complacent and they were settling for ugly shots and they let themselves get rattled by a couple of calls. Not Detroit basketball by a longshot.

That's been a bad habit of this year's team. They're very very good (possibly "great" in the all-time sense) and when they play their best, they're practically unbeatable. But they have a tendency to kind of half-ass it like "It doesn't matter if we fall behind. We'll just make a comeback."

There's absolutely no excuse for losing a game in which they held LeBron scoreless for a fifteen-minute stretch. Hopefully, they bounce back in Game Four.

BCWWF
05-14-2006, 04:07 AM
The thing that sucks about these playoffs though, it seems like nobody gives a shit about Dallas or San Antonio. Their first round matchups were relatively boring and now they are the better two teams playing each other, but I still don't care.

The good matchups have been the Suns/Lakers and the Suns/Clippers. They aren't the best teams, but they have cooler players, play more interesting basketball and the series' both seemed a lot more heated. I hate both the Mavericks and the Spurs, so I guess that makes me a Detroit fan right about now.

Brown did a terrible terrible job as coach, and its a legit thing to fire him. But its clear that the root of the problem is that Isiah is just a god awful gm. Theres absolutely no value to keeping him around as he will continue to run the team into the ground until their payroll is at 300 million, they have no draft picks until 2015 and they win fewer than 10 games.

Although if the Cavs somehow pull off the victory, it will say a hell of a lot about LeBron. I still think he is a year away from making the conf. finals though.

As for the finals, I don't think it will be Spurs-Pistons because the Spurs aren't going to beat the Mavs. Ginobili is all of a sudden bad and Tony Parker always becomes a choke in the playoffs. I would really like to see the "Clip Show" make the finals, partially because I hate Dallas, partially because I like the Clippers, but I don't think they have the firepower to stop Dallas.

As for the Nets, they just disappeared. Weren't they big favorites coming into the series? Clifford Robinson shouldn't make THAT much of a difference. But Pistons over Dallas in the finals is probably the safest bet right now.

Sucks how the Pistons are playing right now. Not to mention that the refs aren't helping them right now. Had a BS non-call when LeBron fouled Chauncey, and everyone knew it. Plus Sheed gets fouled for accidently elbowing Varejao, even though it didn't help his case by arguing. But then Varejao did the same thing later in the game to I believe it was McDyess, and did not get fouled. And Ben Wallace needs to head back to free throw school. I know that is not his strong suit, but missing all 7 of his shots in one game is unacceptable.

After the first two games, I really thought this could be a sweep. It's panic time now, and they really need to step it up.

I think Lebron is afraid to take the game winner/ tieing shot. He's always passing it instead of taking it. He did it tonight and got fouled with 1.4 seconds. You cant pass the ball . Especially when your down by three and your under 3 seconds. All the Pistons have to do is foul and its pretty much game over.

RGWhat316
05-20-2006, 02:50 AM
Glad the Pistons are still keeping the series going. But it seemed they tried to give it away by constantly fouling Lebron. If they would foul someone, it shouldn't be Lebron because he makes nearly every free throw. Not to mention that Chauncey almost tipped the ball in on Cleveland's side.

But it is back to the Palace on Sunday, where Lebron's series will be over.

You're down three with 3 seconds to go. Instead of popping the trey you drive and kick, which you get fouled in the process with 1.3 seconds to go. You make and miss the second. Game over.

You're either..

a) Afraid to take the shot

or

b ) Totally not ready to manage a game in the closing seconds of the playoffs.

I dont care what he did against Washington. It really doesnt matter. The fact is this. Most of the game winners this season Lebron has been involved in, have been passes that lef to the game winner. I think he's taken like 3 game winners all year. YOU DONT PASS THE BALL WITH UNDER 5 SECONDS TO GO WHEN YOU ARE DOWN BY 3! Its very simple. If you look to pass with 3 seconds to go . Any team in the league will foul you and make you take " 2 " shots and give them the ball back. It was just plain stupid and thats what ( imo ) lost that series for the Cavs. Cause whether you're a Cavs fan or not. You knew they werent winning a game 7 in Detroit.

The Outlaw

They need to check there stats. I haven't looked at an official "box score" but I would think that it's overwhelming (10 or more) in the other direction.

Arenas to police: 'You can't arrest me'

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas and forward Awvee Storey have been arrested on charges of disobeying police.

Storey was blocking traffic in the middle of a busy street when an officer told him to get back to the sidewalk Saturday night, according to police reports. Storey didn't get out of the street, and the officer arrested him and charged him with failure to obey a command.
While police were arresting Storey, Arenas got out of a vehicle and walked toward the arresting officers. According to reports, an officer told Arenas to get back in his vehicle, but he refused, saying he wanted to stand next to his teammate. The officer took Arenas into custody and charged him with resisting without violence.

As Arenas was being arrested, according to reports, he said, "You can't arrest me. I'm a basketball player. I play for the Washington Wizards, and I'm not going to leave my teammate."

Both players were then taken to jail for processing.

The Wizards released a statement saying, "We are aware of the situation and, until we have more information, we will have no comment."

The two were arrested as part of a crackdown on disorderly behavior among those who flocked to Miami Beach for Memorial Day weekend.

A total of 557 people were arrested between Thursday morning and Saturday night on Miami Beach. Most arrests were for disorderly conduct and intoxication. During the same three-day period last year, there were 333 arrests.

"We're definitely over from last year," Miami Beach police spokesman Bobby Hernandez said. "We're working a lot more plainclothes officers, so you're obviously going to make more arrests."

I think it is pretty funny how Detriot players are complaining now that they are losing. When they were winning all those games in the regular season they were loving the freedom on offense, I am pretty sure Billups said something like he was not allowed to score before, under Brown, it was like forbidden. Now you got a bunch of players complaining to the media, 'Sheed not going to the huddle during the time out. All around just looks awful, shows on the court too. Hopefully the Heat go all the way, I'd like to see Walker get a ring. Even though he doesn't play for the Celts anymore, I am still a fan of his.

The Pistons are really disappointing me now. I've been a fan since I was eight years old (I'm 23 now). I stuck with the team through the Dark Ages of the mid-1990s (Oliver Miller, anyone?). And now they've put together one of the best teams in league history top-to-bottom, but they're playing like absolute garbage.

They're letting the officials get into their heads. They should know by now that any time you breathe on DWade as he's driving, you'll get whistled for a foul. Every other team in the league has learned it, why haven't the Pistons?

What disappoints me the most is that this is a team that, throughout the regular season (and the last three seasons, really), prided itself on being a unit. And now all of a sudden, there's conflicts with the coach, they're not sharing the ball, and it's costing them victories against a team that they should be beating fairly handily.

Honestly, outside of the mismatch that Shaq has against anyone (and the aforementioned Dwayne "Floorburns" Wade), who does Miami have that's better than Detroit? No one! Rasheed Wallace should be torching Udonis Haslem every night. Antoine Walker shouldn't even be a factor, because Tayshaun Prince is usually one of the best on-the-ball defensive small forwards in the league. And neither Payton nor Williams can match up against Chauncey.

I know they play their best with their backs against the wall, but they're starting to come off as arrogant when they can dismiss yet another loss by saying "If it ain't rough, it ain't right." Yeah, it may be right for you, but for those of us who are hanging on your every pick-and-roll, every blocked shot, it's incredibly frustrating.

I'm begging for a three-game winning streak, but I know better. I just hope that whoever comes out of the West wins it all. I've said numerous times before that I hate the way Shaq plays the game (if I weighed 350 pounds and was allowed to just lean on my defender until I either got a dunk or a foul, I'd be the "most dominant player in league history," too!), and I hate to see him rewarded with another title. He seems like a good enough guy off the court, I just loathe his playing style.

Well individualy each player on Detriot is probably better then the player he is matched up againest on Miami, but unlike Detriot teams in the past, Detriot is playing like a bunch of individuals. While Miami is playing like a team

I wouldn't say that.
Chauncey Billups > Jason Williams
Rip Hamilton < Dwayne Wade
Tayshaun Prince = Antoine Walker
Rasheed Wallace > Udonis Haslem
Ben Wallace < Shaq

As individuals, I don't think Detroit ever really had superstars, it was just that they could play together.

Yeah thats true now that I think about. Shaq and Wade are better then who they are going up againest and Chauncy and Sheed are better againest who they are going up againest. Where as Walker and Prince do seem to be pretty equal. Miami is still playing like a team though (Even with ex "Superstars" Walker and Payton) where as Detriot is not, and that is the difference really.

I remember before the season when Detroit was going to win because they played as a team and Miami wouldn't because they were too selfish.

IMO, the Heat actually made themselves worse this offseason by bringing in a bunch of big names who will only serve to keep the ball out of Shaq and D-Wade's hands (which were the times when they were most successful last season). This is a team that was a game (and an unfortunate injury) away from the Finals last year, and they neutered it.

 Wow. Well, let it not be said that loopydate doesn't acknowledge when he's way off-base. Although, in my defense, I wasn't the only one who thought that when the season started.

Doesn't change the fact that I pretty much couldn't have been more wrong, though.

I will admit that I said the exact same thing as Loopydate. I thought adding Posey might be good, but I hated adding Williams and Walker. In reality, Miami just has a lot of good players right now and Wade is a bona fide superstar. As long as Shaq can be effective the rest of the Heat will be amazing.

To go off on a tangent of a tangent...Flip Saunders is getting torn up in the media right now, but the Minnesota media has been ripping his firing since it happened. In reality, the NBA is such a fucked up league that coaches only have so long to work. Now they are saying Dwayne Casey might be out after one year though, and I think that is way too fast. I really like Casey and hope the Wolves let him go through another year.

Since when did *insert any Detroit starter here* become Tim Duncan? And good job at throwing your coach under the bus. Way to know how to win but when you lose be a little bitch about it. Terrible.

They're letting the officials get into their heads. They should know by now that any time you breathe on DWade as he's driving, you'll get whistled for a foul. Every other team in the league has learned it, why haven't the Pistons?

LOL @ breathing comment. 3 free throws last game. Shut up.

If the refs called it "correctly", Ben Wallace/every defender would be fouled out every game. Ever notice he gives him an elbow every time down the court? You can't complain about Shaq "leaning in" (which is called backing down your defender, everyone does), when EVERY DEFENDER that goes against Shaq gives him much more than they take.

I thought Shaq was down to low 3's now? He's looking pretty "ripped" (for Shaq anyway).

Wade vs Nowitski would be the modern day Jordan vs Bird. I'm hoping for that, but quietly i'm hoping for 2 game 7's. Like the last round game 7's.

Wades sick tonight, but i think he's gunna step up big time cause i dont by the whole " Flu symptoms ". I think thats just glorifying a cold.

You took the words right out of my mouth Loopy. Since Game 3 of the Cav's series, they have made me dry heave like an alcohol poisoned Eskimo. Who is this team? Where did they come from? It's as if they don't even care. Its like the only thing they cared about was not losing the Miami series at home. They stunk up the goddamn place yesterday. I'm at a loss for words to describe how disappointed I am. What the fuck? First the Red Wings and now this? At least the Tigers will keep the safety on my gun for a while...til football season.

LOL @ breathing comment. 3 free throws last game. Shut up.

They were clearly holding their breath the last two games. It showed in their performance, frankly. He took 52 free throws during the series. He averaged more than eight free throws per game. Only twice during the entire series did any Piston attempt more than eight. Ben Wallace in game 3 when Miami went to "Hack-A-Ben" down the stretch, and Chauncey Billups in game 5 (and he was being fouled in the 4th quarter to stop the clock).

Add that to the fact that Shaq took 48 free throws during the series means that those two players took 100 FTs. As a team, the Pistons only took 154.

But, you're right, to say that Wade gets a lot of calls is absolutely ridiculous. Thanks for setting me straight.

I really can't believe how bad it got for the Pistons. It's a damn shame to have the best record out of everyone in the NBA this year to lost it all in not even a game 7 against the Heat. As much as I hate to say it, they definitely choked. Ever since game 3 against Cleveland, the Pistons haven't been the same. Who knows what the hell happened? Just unfortunately it all culminated in ending their season. Hopefully they can rebound next year.
