Devils win their fourth straight, as Brodeur continues to play well. Their doing it without too much scoring, so once Gomez gets healthy and comes back, hopefully he can ignite Gionta and Elias who each have been slumping. Although Elias had a goal and assist tonight, so hopefully he can turn things around.

well, buffalo sabres are on a roll I see, as are the red wings, so it could be between the two. If I could pick a team, it would be the sharks, very aggresive and determined as witnessed last year. If any of those teams, or Lightning take the Stanley I would sport their avator for 5 months.

That would definetely be a great series. That series would definetely showcase speed, which is a big part of hockey. Although I am still going with the Sharks as the team from the west to go the finals.

samichna
11-21-2006, 10:40 PM
Don't get your hopes up for playoff match-ups just yet, cause the "new NHL" is pretty unpredictable. As evidenced by last year's playoffs, "hardworking" or "gritty" teams are sometimes able to wear down speedy/skilled teams over the course of a best-of-seven series. (ie. the Edmonton Oilers marching to the Cup Finals)

YOUR Hero
11-23-2006, 11:04 AM
20 is the new 30, that's part of the problem. Goal scoring may be up, but not like was anticipated, in fact it's down this year over last years. If he has a big year this year, he should be ok, but if he does not, coaches will start to play him less and the like because they'll assume age is slowing him down.

Caged Heat18
11-23-2006, 01:10 PM
Goal scoring is down. Selanne is getting older and he is still 100 away. I would doubt that he would get to 600. He had a great year last year, but I don't think he will be able to repeat that. He only has a few years left, so I do not see it happening.

Fignuts
11-23-2006, 06:14 PM
I dont understand how the Sabres can be that good.

Its because the whole team has been playing together for quite a while now, but at the same time they are still relatively young.

It really has to do with a combination of amazing chemistry and blazing speed. I honestly beleive they are the fastest team in the NHL.

samichna
11-23-2006, 07:11 PM
Yeah the Sabres are probably the fastest team in the NHL. I love watching them play.

ANYWAY, back to Selanne. I dunno why you guys seem so convinced that he has no chance of getting to 600 goals in his career.

He has 8 goals in 23 games so far this year. If he stays healthy and remains on this pace (which is below his capablities btw), he will score around 28 goals this year, leaving him with a total of 520 by season's end.

For argument's sake, lets say he plays three more years after this season. In those three years, he would need a total of 81 goals to tie Jari Kurri's mark of 601. That amounts to an average of 27 goals per year.

Is it really out of the question?

Zen v.W.o.
11-25-2006, 12:35 AM
nhl 2k7 is more realistic to what you might get in the NHL today. But the gameplay on 07 is fantastic. The ability to control how you stickhandle makes it immense. Plus the graphics are better.

The soundtrack for 2K7 is tops though. Anything associated with sub pop is good.

I have both, and you wont go wrong with any. Although I was never thrilled with the way 2K7 plays.

I prefer 07. The gameplay puts it over the top.

I just can't watch the Canucks anymore. Ever since I moved to BC, I've tried to (and did) make them my team. I came here as a Habs fan, they always remained my "2nd" favourite team as I "made" Vancouver my team... I find however I enjoy, actually always have, watching the Habs over the Canucks. Sure when Bure and Linden were rookies, it was easier to follow the Canucks, them trading for Naslund and him blossoming was awesome. They are however, and almost always have been, frustrating to watch. There is something wrong with the chemistry of the team. I don't just mean now, but always. Something at the grass roots is wrong with this organization. For me, they will remain a team to lightly follow, I wish them well, but I cannot suppress my desire to openly root once again for Les Habitant.

There, I said it.

Look at Turgeon in Colorado, he's been added to the team, he's played 4 games and has 3 goals and 1 assist. Now he won't become a 50 goal scorer again, but he's good for this NHL, just like I believe Bondra or Allison would be of value to teams.

Adder
12-18-2006, 05:47 PM
Rangers are a bit of a mess this year. They should be a rising power, but instead they are stagnant after making improvement last year. As good and valuable as Shanahan is, his arrival has messed up the team chemistry. Just look at Prucha for example. Here was a new young star, or so it would have appeared. Now that Shanny's there, this guy is relegated to line 3 or 4. No PP time, lack of playing time, etc. Not good. Stuff like that causes a ripple effect. This guy, in a different year could have been the RotY he had 30 (only 60+ games), 16 PP goals. - This year he's got 6 goals, he's being wasted.
Then there's Lundqvist. This guy was the toast of the Garden last year. In fact Weekes was booed when he was played in place of Lundqvist last year. Now, Lundqvist is butting heads with Rhenney about some cultural bullshit. If you don't know what I'm referring to, Lundqvist pulled himself out of a game and Rhenney said it was a weak character move (or something like that) by him. Lundqvist being a Swede, comes from a background where goalies do pull themselves when they don't feel they are doing a good job.

Good things for the Rangers they play in what is a weak division.
