Damn Canucks. Dallas played so much better in OT that I knew within 30 seconds that barring a fluke goal, They'd win.

And LOL the puck hit the outside of the post almost causing an own goal by Dallas on a delayed penalty to the 'Nucks. If that had gone in, I would have no way to be here today typing this as I'd still be huddled over with pains to my sides from all the laughter that would have ensued.

son of a bitch.

lightning is losing momentum, 3-0 shutout against the devils. Brodeur was on the puck tonight.

Tamba bay needs to win Sunday!

glad Sharks are doing great though, at least I got them to root for if Lightning is out (or the Flames).

Like wtf, McLennan gets called in, and almost the first thing he does is this completely blatant 2 hander. Iginla's was arguably stupider, because if he gets suspended for hitting with the butt end, he's fucked them a lost worse then McLennan.

Avery had another great one, don't have the exact words but I guess he was asked what he is doing to prepare for the sabres and he replied with something like

"I'm already making up things about these guys in my head, about things they have done to me in the past, I'm identifying them so I know who to go after and who to get revenge on"

Total psycho lol

Avery is the type of player that could be very key for any team in a playoff run. As long as he keeps his head semi screwed on and displays his passion, he'll elevate his whole team.

Funny thing, he's not the type of guy you even want n your team for an entire season as his schtick wears thin over the course of a season, but for a playoff run....

Zen v.W.o.
04-25-2007, 08:53 PM
Avery is a true pest. It's funny though, he's not dirty really at all. He doesnt go nuts on the ice, but he causes others to go nuts.

Take a guy like Tucker...he's dropped alot of the pesky shit Avery still loves to do, but Tucker was always much more of a ticking timebomb, unpredictable type. And he does go dirty.

Avery threatens another team only to get in their heads. Tucker sometimes threatens harm on others and goes through in trying to follow up on it.

They get compared alot but they arent really all that similar.

I hope this happens. Then I hope more US teams in poor markets move to Canada. The Florida's, Atlanta's, etc. The US networks don't contribute anything to the hockey revenue. It's all Canadian, so why should we still be catering to US cities that really couldn't care. I'm not saying there are no strong US teams, but come on.

That was a crazy game last night. Mediocre goal-tending on both sides and less than perfect defensive zone coverage. It all added up to an exciting game. As for Pronger he should get at least a game. I heard some people saying he didn't elbow him that hard, that it wasn't with intent, so he won't get a suspension. I dunno, from my perspective he should.

Also I would love the Ducks to win it at home, whether it be in 5 or 7. I think i'd prefer 5 to save a bit of stress, but saying that 7 would probably be more enjoyable.

Either way Samuel Pahlsson has to win the Conn Smythe (so far)

pretty good series, not the two teams I originally wanted to see in the playoffs but deserving teams no less. Coach was talkin about the elbow pad being so huge that he doesn't blame Pronger for the hit, but it's pretty blatant, not much worse than a fight imo aside from being a nasty cheapshot.

anyway, I look forward to seeing the next game(s).

Anaheim is a solid team, it's just too bad they are in Anaheim and are under appreciated. Like Tampa Bay and Carolina before them, they might win the cup and be popular for right now, but they are a franchise (like those other two) that don't sell out their rinks and hardly get coverage in their own market.

I hate that shit. Makes me pretty mad.

pretty good game; Sens slipped up quite a bit (scoring on themself, slipped penalty shot) and I am glad Aneheim won, they've been a great, consistent team for the past few years.

next year it's Lightning's time to win again, it's been 4 years (though one of those years doesn't count) - I can also see Flames and/or Sharks making it to the playoffs 08.

You know despite my disappointment and despite the fact that these past few seasons have seen teams in badish hockey markets win cups, each year has provided a good story. Andreychuck in 04, Brind'amour in 06, Selanne in 07 guys that have been in the league for years and finally get their cup.

2 strikes in @ 10 years doesn't help. Too much player movement as well (imo)

Right after the '94 season where hockey was on a high, the Rangers have the cup and what are they talking about? Strike. What do they do? Strike. Hockey shot itself in the foot. Also, there are far too many southern hockey teams that no one watches. Not the home towns, not the corporations, not the tv/radio/prin media. So many poor decision on hockey's part in the last 20 years or so.

I agree with your final paragraph. You pretty much nailed that point.

However as for the player movement thing, which mind you, I dont care much for either, since it's hard to build a cohesive team together and feel like you can relate to your team, every league is now like that, especially the NFL. And it's still loved. I think the NHL could get past that, but like you said, they arent starting off on the right foot in order to do so because of numerous errors they made in the past.
