Honestly, even from the shitty cam shots I can tell the graphics are MUCH better than I had expected.

The only real thing I'm worried about is that the driving looks funky and wobbly in all vehicles, but other than that it's looking awesome.

You get used to it, it's definatly a more real driving experiance....

There will be SOME copies available at launch for purchase, but not many.. Although looking at the "Limited Stocks" warnings of WiiFit... You only have to go into GAME to see big piles of them waiting to be purchased without a pre-order.

Whats key to remember is that many people may have pre-ordered in more than one place to guarantee thier copy (in the hope they get it earlier too, if one decided to break the street date).

So I would worry, but not greatly about getting a non pre-order copy.

Majority of the big online reviewers are giving out their reviews today. EuroGamer and TeamXbox both gave it a 10/10, 1up gave it an A+, Kotaku gave raved about it, and ComputerAndVideogames gave it a 9.5/10. Gamespot is suppose to release their review today as well.

Frame Rate
The Grand Theft Auto series has never been synonymous with a rock solid frame rate, something it generally seems to get a pass for. While GTA IV is smoother in general than it's predecessors, it can expectedly suffer during chaos. The Xbox 360 version seemed capable of achieving a smoother frame rate, peaking higher in certain circumstances, such as in confined spaces or during light traffic, but both versions seemed to regularly run at a similar clip.

Pop-In & Loading
With a huge, seamless streaming world, data must be constantly read from the disc. The PS3 version, with its required HDD install, loads missions a couple seconds faster and decreases pop-in. The Xbox 360 version can suffer from some very noticeable texture loading, as things like trees, vehicles and building signs will regularly pop-in as one tools about town. It can be distracting, especially during high speed chases, and the PS3 version isn't entirely immune from it, but it's not a game killing problem.

Graphics
The two versions are so close to identical, visually, that putting together a comparison was a challenge. Initially, it appeared that the PS3 suffered from more noticeable aliasing than its 360 counterpart, but after eyeballing the final retail copy, they appear to be on par. I noticed that the paint filter applied to cover some of the game's imperfections appeared a tiny bit muddier on the PS3 version, with night time scenes seeing more streakiness. Some of these minor complaints may be the result of our particular television settings and require the finest of fine tooth combs to assess.

Downloadable Content
The Xbox 360 version is announced to have two exclusive downloadable content packs for purchase. Details on what will be contained in those two exclusive batches of DLC are sparse, so we can't judge what they'll bring to the table, nor do we know if the PlayStation 3 version will eventually get its own DLC from Rockstar. If you're looking for more GTA IV, and you may very well be after you've completed the core game, you're going to want the 360 version.

So basically, the 360 version looks better and is slightly smoother, but has more pop-in than the PS3 version. I've only noticed the pop-in once, and that was drawing a parking space on the ground so I don't think it's a big deal on either format.

This has to be said:

GTA4 is the most fun multiplayer going on right now; I'm sure it will take over 'Live in the record books.

BUT...

...The Party/Lobby/Invite/Join system needs a serious overhaul. I don't know if Halo 3's party system is just so advanced that I find other game lobby systems below standard by perception, but GTA's system makes it hard to simply join up with your crew and make some games. It seems to choose a Host at random, and 9/10 times the Host is someone who doesn't know how many options he actually has, or care enough to change anything at all (screw AutoAim). And never quite know when it's alright to join a session or invite people.

I think the Party mode (which is kind of a wasted step) should automatically be Free Mode at the start, like right when you make the 'Lobby'. The Host, who should always be the guy who made the game, should adjust options for the next game from right there. And if they still want the classic Lobby room that comes up when games finish, they should do that all the way and drop the Party step altogether.

Love the game, but an update should iron out that frustrating system and make for a smoother experience.

Other than that mini-rant; I LOVE THIS GAME. More memories than I can post right now.

Maybe if you weren't such a tard you would understand how to use the game mechanics.

Driving is easy once you are used to the new engine. The GPS works fine other than very minor glitches that don't even happen frequently. Fuck, it even updates on the fly.. what more could you want.

The fight system is light years better than the old fight systems. Once you grasp the concept of pressing more than just one button like a retard, it is great. And you are an idiot if you don't notice the differences in handling between vehicles.

Though, considering you like mostly horrible music I'm not surprised you don't like the soundtrack.

- Slow down to turn and use the normal break, don't use the handbreak - this isn't a stunt game, it's more based on reality. Though I'll say that it's a bit slippery, once you've adapted to it it works wonderfully.

- How about pressing the left thumstick up? Seriously, that's a retarded complaint.

- I don't mind the soundtrack, in fact I like it, but it's a personal taste thing.

- Maybe bring the brightness up? I can see fine without headlights at night, but obviously having them on helps.

- The GPS is one of the best new additions. Now you don't have to guess that if you go on this overpass you have to double back. I can't believe anyone would complain about it.

- I can pull off headshots in manual aim and I can switch between targets in auto aim. Don't see what your problem is.

- I haven't noticed many camera issues. Then again, I tend to manually control camera in every game I play, moreso than most people I would guess, so they may exist.

- The fight system is awesome and much more realistic than any previous game. Don't know what the fuck you're on. (Then again most people can't grasp it.)

Seriously, most of your points are from a learn to play standpoint. Is the game perfect? Fuck no, no game is "perfect" and the game does have its flaws. But you shouldn't have gone into it expecting GTA:SA in Liberty City. I expected a completely different game and a learning curve and I beat that curve within three hours of playing.

That said, the ONE major problem I have is the cover system. It's fine if you stay in one place/on one wall, but moving from, for example, car to car, isn't great and usually doesn't work at all, if it's even supposed to.

- I can drive fine when I slow down, but I want to drive decently fast, and cars cant turn at all when your driving over like 20mph, You can try the handbrake, but you go slipping rear-end past it.

- I tried controlling Niko during the SPoiler****Mission where you chase the dude up the construction site**** I dont know what was going on, but Niko as soon as he touched like anything would bump back, and turn away.

- The soundtrack has like nothing in my taste at all, I recognize like maybe 5 songs, and they are all meh.

- I have the brightness at full, maybe its the TV.

- The GPS talking is what I am annoyed by, but if you turn off the voice, you have to watch it yourself, really lose-lose for me, as most of the time, I can take a quick look at map, and get to destination no problem.

- When I have auto-aim on, and I go to use the targeting reticle, it auto draws to the nearest person, and I am unable to go to manual aim from that.

- When you in a smaller space trying to fight, the camera is retarded, it zooms into the back of your head, adn I have no idea where I am going.

- Maybe the fight system needs some getting used to, but I find it pretty annoying, especially when someone else joings the fight.

- I tried, and they dont corner much different, both either hit the wall, or slipped past when I used the handbrake.


Oh and another thing I am having a lot of trouble with, is L2 used to be look left, R2 was look right, and L2+R2 was look behind, that is taking alot of getting used to.

Turn Auto Aim off... Everybody turns it off online because its gay when people lock on, online. Got 7 kills without dying in a team deathmatch last night, was well chuffed.
Finished the game yesterday, took me 25 hours, just going around getting my friends like % up now. Got a turkey in bowling :D.
The game is great, some minor graphics lag but nothing major.
Also in the pregame lobby me and my friends have this new game we play, at spawn one team of 2-4 get lots of weapons then they go get a car and drive off. Then another team gets lots of weapons and then get in a helicopter. The helicopter team chase the car team, no getting out of cars, played it for like 2 hours yesterday. Playing hide and seek is pretty good to. Somebody hid inside the statue of liberty by the beating heart, anybody seen the beating heart easter egg yet?

I finished it on Sunday and I never expected to race through the story, it just engrossed me so I demanded to get more and more of the story.

No biggie, I put it on again today to do some more side missions and it should tide me over until some DLC comes out :D

Even if you do race through (I think I'm about 75% through the story, just opened the third island) you still have the side missions to do (which I'm saving for after the story) and multiplayer. It is a pretty engrossing storyline.

For me it comes down to the multiplayer, that's going to keep me on the game longer than any other GTA, and I played the GTA3 series to death and then some.

Yeah, took me a couple tries. Best bet is to buy some body armor beforehand. There is a gun store right near the hospital that sells it.

Tips for the rest in black:

Take out the two guys on the left side of the building from the parking lot, with your sniper rifle, and anyone else you see inside. Then go around to the back of the building. There should be a ladder there. Climb up and take cover immediately. Take out the couple guys on the second level and then drop down. As long as you use cover you should be able to kill them without losing much, if any damage.

As for escapaping police, make sure you know where the front exit is, so you dont get disoriented. Pull out an smg so you can run faster, shooting anyone who gets in your way. With the body armor, you should be able to make it to the pick up truck on the grass. From there, its up to you to lose your wanted level, although you may have to switch vehicles, as the cops will pelt the truck with shotguns as you escape. Three stars isn't that hard to lose tho.

There should be a ladder there. Climb up and take cover immediately. Take out the couple guys on the second level and then drop down. As long as you use cover you should be able to kill them without losing much, if any damage.

As for escapaping police, make sure you know where the front exit is, so you dont get disoriented. Pull out an smg so you can run faster, shooting anyone who gets in your way. With the body armor, you should be able to make it to the pick up truck on the grass. From there, its up to you to lose your wanted level, although you may have to switch vehicles, as the cops will pelt the truck with shotguns as you escape. Three stars isn't that hard to lose tho.


For an even easier method, when the swat team show up, just haul ass out of there as quickly as possible, find the gap in the fence (look for it before you enter the hospital in the first place if that helps) then just throw yourself into the water, there will be a speedboat to the left, get in it, get to open water, and you'll outrun any police with no problems.
