What a crock of shit. The Pens are doing it again, losing games to extend series and sell more tickets. It's gonna backfire on them one of these days.

That call by the ref, where he blew that play dead even tho Halak didn't have the puck saved the Canadians, it would be in OT right now...

Also Rev. Hallowell, your sig is dumb.

Rev. Hallowell
05-10-2010, 09:53 PM
I just kinda threw it together. I need to shrink the sports logos.

And for that matter, shrink the sig itself. 800 pixels may be the rule's maximum, but it's too damn big.

Basically there was a scramble around the net, the puck popped out to Malkin and the ref blew the whistle right as Malkin shot it.

With that said, glad we're still alive.

I mean we could be like Habs fans and boo every time someone hits the ice trying to get calls.

That being said. I can't say I'm shocked its going to Game 7. The goaltending has been crazy this series, really for both teams. The atmosphere in Montreal I'm sure was something to behold. I can't diss on the Habs fan's passion but it can get little annoying wanting every call.

Also the "Crosby sucks" chants... Ask Philly or Washington how thats worked for them in the past.

Riiiiight. Except for Game 1, the Canadians have gotten away with so much more than the Pens have in the series.

Hawks are also younger than the Red Wings and more "hungry" to reach the Cup after their tough loss to the Red Wings last year.

Red Wings this playoffs looked like they just assumed they would win games with no effort and it caught them off guard when SJ didn't collapse and actually played like a championship-calibur team.

I'm a life long Pens fan and they are still my favorite team, but when Mario finally called it a career, I switched to the obligation of cheering for all Canadian teams first (even the Leafs, who I boood my entire childhood) and the Pens second come playoff time.

That shorthanded goal the Canadiens scored was probably the worst display of hockey by one team that I have ever seen. There is no way Kunitz should have turned it over, and then that dude tries to pass the puck off the board to get around Gonchar and he just fucking stands there and does nothing, then just turns around when the dude blows by him, and then Fleury lets in another one that shouldn't have gone in.

SJ - Never made Finals or won a cup

I was unaware that the NHL salary cap was structured in such a way that the cap hit per year is the total of the players deal divided by the number of years the deal is for. So the cap hit per year for Backstrom is $6.7 million, even though at the end of the contract he'll be making $8 million. The Cap for 09 was $56 million, figure that it is at least that next year. They've got $22.4 million tied up in those 3 players.

Even better info (http://www.hockeybuzz.com/cap-central/team.php?team=WAS)

Prior to the Backstrom signing they had $38.4 million in salary committed for the 10-11 season, and 8 Unrestricted Free Agents and 7 Restricted Free Agents still to sign. So with the Backstrom signing they now have $45.1 million committed for next year which is $11 million short of this years cap and still have 14 FA's to sign. Guessing trades? Theodore won't be resigned thats for sure. Plus Semin is a FA next year, find it hard to figure they'll be able to resign him.

St. Louis has never won a cup, so technically, Toronto and St. Louis will be tied for the longest cup drought if the Hawks win.

Just want to say that while I forgot about that, Toronto still has the longer cup drought.

They won the cup last in May/June of the 1966-1967 year
Blues didnt play their first season and thus didnt have a chance to win the cup until 1967-1968 playoffs.

Still, sucks ass for both teams.

I have to say that I am so disappointed and sad about what just occurred. I know everyone is going to say that I should have expected this, because it's a letdown every year. But this year seemed different. It looked so promising, and that it may be our year. I have not decided whether or not I am going to continue to watch the remainder of the playoffs this season. As of right now, it is a no. But once I calm down I'll be able to make a better decision about it because I can say that now I do have an invested interest in the Eastern Conference because whoever makes it out of that series alive, hopefully Montreal, I want them to now beat Chicago for the cup. The Blackhawks have now etched their name as a team that will forever leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Congrats to the Sharks on a fantastic season, and a most exciting playoff year. Came up just short again this year, but we'll get a good rest and give it another valiant effort next season starting in October.

Congrats to Rob Blake as well who may have just played the last game in his brilliant NHL career. If he decides to come back, that's great. If not, thanks for an exciting last season.

Yeah it sucks when your team loses, but you are acting like you have never been through it before. When the Capitals lost this year it was probably one of the top 2 crushing defeats I have ever been through. But chill out, it's not like the Sharks lost in the first round again. I love hockey so I have watched pretty much every game of these playoffs. Also why do you hate Chicago now just because they beat the Sharks? I always thought it was good sportsmanship to root for the team that knocks your team out unless they are some piece of shit team like Pittsburgh or you hated them beforehand/developed animosity towards them during the series but I didn't see a reason for Sharks fans to hate Chicago other than just being dominated by them.

The Bruins were probably worse off. Then again, it is the same amount of losses in a row.

Also, I suppose Chicago was only a point behind us in the standings so it was really two number 1 teams more than number 1 and number 2. Best of luck to them. I've begun to calm down. Hopefully that will be noticed.
