According to numerous reports, Steve Yzerman (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8452578) will be named the new general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning (http://lightning.nhl.com/) at a 3 p.m. ET news conference Tuesday.

CBC's Elliotte Friedman and Rogers Sportsnet's Nick Kyperos both reported the Hall of Fame center and current Red Wings executive will be taking the job.

"This did not take us by surprise because for years Stevie has said one day he would like to be a general manager in the NHL," Red Wings Senior Vice President Jim Devellano told the Detroit News. "It was something he wanted to do, but it had to be the right opportunity for him and his family.

"It was a tough decision for Steve, that's why it took such a long time," Devellano said. "It's not easy leaving Detroit for somebody like Steve. He's been with us for 27 years. He came as an 18-year-old and just recently celebrated his 45th birthday. So it was not an easy decision for him to make.

"We are all happy for Steve," Devellano said. "This is something he wanted, a challenge that he desired and worked hard for. At the same time, we are going to miss him. He's been such a major part of all of our lives, both on the ice and in the front office."

When my team is out (often lol), unless I'm a huge mark for a player on a certain team, I'll cheer for the underdog. But not this time. I just don't like the Philadelphia Flyers. I liked them in the 90s when they had Lindros and co but since then they have become one of my least favorite teams. Plus, Toews is the shit and the closest thing we will have to a Sakic/Yzerman in the coming years I think (he's #19 too :cool:)

The long layoff between games hurt both starting goalies a lot since neither seemed as good as in the Conference finals but it did make for a really entertaining game on tv. I think NBC had the stat around the end of the 2nd period where 20% of all the shots taken ended up being goals.

The crowd in Chicago has been silent the entire playoffs. It is one of the worst arenas I have seen but NBC and Versus always make sure they mention the "madhouse on madison" and how great their fans are. When they show the camera from in the stands when they score a goal, all you see is a bunch of people just standing up and high fiving each other, that is it. Nobody is going crazy there at all.

Fans can make a break a wrestling show. To me, the card and matches could all be solid, but if the fans are dead it makes the show look like shit. A mediocre match where the fans are going nuts always looks better and feel more important than a great match where the fans are silent and unresponsive. That same mindset carries over to sports for me. If the fans suck, it takes away part of the game.

Yeah just watched it and that crowd was terrible, which is weird because Chicago is usually loud as hell for wrestling shows. Montreal is INSANE, actually any Canadian crowd is always really good along with the North East US crowds, Washington, Minnesota, Colorado and San Jose. The rest are "meh" from what I can remember.

Ignoring the 1st game due to goalies being a bit "rusty" due to the long time off between games, this game is the best of the 1st 3 games since Philly finally is playing with determination and Chicago is really playing hard to go up 3-0 in the series.

Also less calls being made by refs which is letting both teams play tough and keeping the game flowing great.

Philly crowds are generally like that. The only sport were i think the atmosphere is "casual" would be an NBA game.

I feel like the people who go to NBA games actually like the NBA and aren't just there to be there, because it seems like professional basketball is the least acceptable sport to follow. I think baseball is the most casual. Games are cheap and don't mean as much as games in other sport to in regard to the entire season. Maybe that's just Washington, DC though.

I was burned out from working all day on no sleep and dozed off at about 5 mins into the first.

Woke up as they scored 5-2 for Chicago and fell back asleep.
