The WWF was fine for a bit after that. Saving WCW might have just given us an alternate TNA. But if you actually prop up WCW, that could potentially harm the WWF and take us down another dark path. I dunno, I might be getting too far in the reeds in how destined some things are to be doomed.

WCW was a bit lost creatively, but they still had an established brand, legit wrestling stars under contract and a new TV deal under a new umbrella could have made them a viable alternative and kept WWE on their toes.

What we got from it was a nothing invasion angle, followed by a stranglehold on the business. WCW might have been in a creative mess for a few years, but WWE has been in one for over a decade now.

Today, in 2022, WCW, even at its worst, would have been very welcome. What we do have is a sole rival US promotion completely run creatively by the son of a successful businessman with no prior experience in the business.

I honestly don’t think WCW sticking around would be any worse than what we have now.
