Mayweather wins by stoppage in the 10th
Hatton was always trying to force the fight, but Mayweather's defence was excellent, kept Hatton from striking close, then mixed it up, the punches which laid out Hatton were insane. Referee was really poor, allowed Mayweather to duck away, hold Hatton all the time, really didn't let the fight go. But he was the better fighter, no doubt about that one. |

In regards to the fight, I was absolutely shocked Hatton got KO'd. Mayweather is the bollocks. Fair play to him. Fought like a cunt early on but I blame the referee for allowing him to hold, wrestle and elbow instead of allowing both fighters to box out of the clinches. The point Hatton was docked was a fucking disgrace. Cortez should not be allowed to ref big fights again. Total bottle job. The sight of him posing with Mayweather after the fight makes me sick. Hatton is a total class act though. True people's champion. He'll fuck up everyone at 140lbs. Some of the scoring was shocking. The judges had it nearly a shut out for Mayweather. HBO had Hatton winning after 6 rounds. So did I. |

Absolutely no way Hatton was ever in the lead beyond the first couple of rounds in my opinion, Maywather was the class act that he's always been and I think to the surprise of the entire UK, pretty humble in victory, all the bravado and ott trashtalking is an act. Ricky is still a champ like Floyd said, who knows maybe he'll go for Cotto or even Junior Witter now, doubt we'll see Floyd fight again, its a great shame but damn, he's the best of the best and has nothing else to prove. For the record I think PBF would destroy Cotto, good as Cotto looks to be. I was shocked at the KO too though, I thought Mayweather would get less involved than he did. Thing is he doesn't need to stand back, he's so damn good he can pummel you on the backfoot whilst still being two steps too quick for you to connect with anything. Mayweather was a lot more successful up close too, Hatton was trying to take it to him but ended up coming off the worse for it in the end. Also he had Mayweather realing pretty early on, it wasn't gonna be a KO but I felt like he had an opportunity to lay on some damage (physical and psychological) early, coulda made a big difference. Thing with Mayweather though is that he really can adapt to anything you throw at him, nothing but respect for the guy, I just can't bring myself to hate him because generally he acts like a pro and a gent when it matters...Aside from the Baldomir fight, but hey, he clearly had/has more respect for our Ricky than he let on! Great fight all in all, I hope Hatton can get himself a light welter title shot next and go out on top but I don't wanna see him turning into a Jeff Lacy (he looked awful last night) or even worse, Roy Jones. |

I had Hatton winning up til the 7th by 1 point. Mayweather turned it on after that though. Mayweather only looked better close because Cortez was on Hatton everytime he tried something in a clinch. He didn't allow him to box his way out of a clinch like he does one single time.
Hatton can get a title shot at the snap of a finger. All of the 140lbs champions would love to fight him for the pay day. Might as well smack Witter around now since it's a big British fight. |

Mayweather has absolutely no reason to fight Cotto, and a fight with him will never top the Hatton fight, it was in the making and on every boxing fan's mind ever since Hatton beat Kostya Tszyu, and thus it'll never have the same atmosphere or build up and people just won't care about it enough for him to bother, he's gone out on a huge high note with a huge international audience watching, why bother with Cotto? And it won't be as lucrative either, so money isn't a reason, not that he needs anymore anyway.

Yes, comfortably. It was hyped up entirely for profit, Brits were duped into believing Hatton had a shot in order to secure more pay per views, which it undoubtedly did, he always draws pretty big over here but I doubt any of his previous fights even came close in terms of revenue from ppv buys. Also the fact that anything can happen if the right punch lands at the right time meant hatton did always have sort of a chance, it just wasn't a very big one.

They gotta do Mayweather and DLH again. Too much money in it and it was too close last time out. I thought DLH won.

I dunno, its easy to get caught up in percieved momentum, DLH threw a hell of a lot of punches, way more than Mayweather, but he landed far fewer. Personally before the decision I thought they'd set up the rematch right there with a draw ![]() |

Either way Mayweather won that fight as far as Im concerned, it was damn close, which is a credit to DLH at his age against the best P4P but I'm not shifting on this. DLH's jab was rendered useless, Mayweather's defensive was stunning as always and everytime DLH attempted a flurry he was countered far more effectively by Floyd. Like I said already percieved momentum (ie the crowd behind a fighter as he looks to be on the assault throwing flurries left right and centre) can cloud things, it can influence decisions but on this occasion it didn't. I'd be saying Mayweather won if the split decision had gone the other way.
And for the record I like DLH, he's been robbed before (ie Trinidad fight) and also taken some 'dubious' decisions his way (ie Whitaker - who he outboxed, much like Mayweather did him)...This one was close but Mayweather took it both in the decision and in reality. Oscar is probably the only one who'll be able to draw Mayweather into another fight, Pavlik, Malignaggi, Cotto, Witter etc, none of them have the name or the record to even come close to matching him right now.
Both he and Mayweather are at the point where they're considered all time greats anyway, Mayweather easily in the top 10 P4P, can't see either of them fighting anyone else but eachother at this stage. |

Pretty much. Hatton offered him a fight right before beat Tsyzu and Cotto refused it.
