I'm not as big a fan of the movies as others, so I don't consider this nearly as blasphemous as others. The thing about remakes, though, is that if the director was nearly in as much love with the original as those who should be making a remake are, then they wouldn't dare do a remake, anyway. It's a bit of a paradox.

But honestly, I think I'd rather this than another ghost girl movie. Englund was great, sure, but I don't see why there could never be anyone else that could do great things with the Freddy character. Christian Bale made a great Batman, Daniel Craig made a great James Bond. There would be another guy out there who could take Freddy and not tarnish his iconic status.

Speaking of Johnny Depp, I think he is an actor that could do amazing things with the Freddy Krueger character.

My hopes for this turning out any good died when Michael Bay was attached.
