Yeah I haven't bought a CD in years tbh.. I dunno, if a local band that was good had a CD I would probably buy it. When my friend's group puts out their first, I will def. buy it, seeing as I already pay money to go to their shows and it is worth it.. but other stuff, it is too convenient to just download something now.

Was reading an interview with Trent Reznor a while back and he was talking about how downloading music was just going to be how it is now. Like there is really nothing the record companies are ever going to do to completely stop it, so if groups want to still make money from record sales they're going to have to adapt the way they go about doing it. His last album was released free online, with an option to pay like 5 bucks and get higher quality downloads, or to pay even more and I think get like a hard copy of it.

Same deal with Radiohead. They released it free, or offered the option to pay and get better quality. It is a pretty solid plan. Reznor also helped another artist Saul Williams produce his album, and released it with a similar method. The numbers weren't nearly as high, but the artist himself was actually really pleased with how many people actually payed for it when given the option.
